Halfway through August in the M.M.P

Spent the day down flat with vertigo.

is “basement cat” like “barn cat” ? oh and do yourself a favor don’t give kitten a nickname until you pick one that way you don’t end up with the cat coming ot the nickname … like we had a mentally ill cat and even though we named her everyone called her “evil kitty” and that was her name for the next 12 years …same with “fleabag” i had a cat that was shameless even for cat so I started calling her “fleabag” and anyone else could call her name and shed come … id have to yell “hey fleabag” …

One thing I did learn tho is offspring and relatives don’t get to name animals …my nephew when he was 2 named out black cat “blackie” which wouldn’t have been so bad but I live in a diverse neighborhood when she escaped and became lost I learned " here blackie come on out " isn’t something a pudgy non-physical caucasian person should be yelling …

DH got his COVID test results same-day (done at a hospital).

Speaking of DH, he’s been duly carved and is now camped on our sofa. Surgeon claims it looks quite good for quick recovery unless there’s some infection (results on those tests will be in a few days).

I found out he was back to consciousness when he commented on a Facebook post of mine.

Ok all caught up now. Hope you feel better soonest Susan. I don’t know how to bold names anymore.

I asked my doc about a flu shot the other day and he said it’s too early as it wears off in time. I am going to get mine in the middle of Sept. Out of curiosity I asked him about what he thinks about the pandemic. He said “well they have been saying it was going to happen but I didn’t believe them”. They are taking precautions. When I arrived for my appointment I called and let them know I was in the parking lot. Asked what kind of car. Sent a nurse out about 10 minutes later carrying a basket. Called me out of the car, checked my temp, gave me squirts of alcohol in my hands and took me in the back door. Saw doc and then went out the front door. I didn’t see any other patients but there could have been.

I took the best nap between 5 and 730 tonight so that means I shall probably be awake half the night. We have been promised rain for a couple weeks and have very little. I want rain dammit. It is so hot too. Today was 93F with heat index of 106. Way too hot. Gotta keep an eye on the tropics. Ocean is very hot. Does not bode well for hurricane season.

I hope Gordy feels better soon, poor baby. Glad Echo is OK. That call would have scared me too. I loved that house Sari. Too bad someone else did too. Keep an eye out because things happen, financing falls through, people get cold feet. It may come back on the market.

Hugs to Dots and anyone else who needs one. Shoe beautiful kitty.

Little Monkey asked us to tell you: you should wear bells instead of marring my feline svelte beauty with a collar-when I hear your bells :bell: I’ll reach out and swipe your butt with my :gloves:paws and warn you off. It’s better for me that way. Make it so.

Glad to hear. Now it’s your turn to post a picture of him lounging on the couch on FaceBook. Turnabout is fair play.

Asterisk asterisk the name asterisk asterisk (no spaces)
Asterisk word asterisk makes whatever the word is italic

Kinda fun once a kind soul here taught me how.

not to depress anyone but here’s some sad news …

she passed away today and since I know most of everyone here doesn’t read much out of the mmp thought id let yall know

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to sort.

Sadly the Hurricanes were eliminated last night. And Gordie is at least slightly better today. The carpet, not so much.

Shades, I saw that. :anguished:

Reminds me of a friend in Florida. I was getting some ice from her freezer and dropped a cube. She said “Pick that up - it’ll leave a clean spot!” Single mom with more important things to worry about, yanno…

Regarding toddler bath - Daughter did some research - turns out bath time tantrums at this age are not unusual. One explanation is they precede a growth spurt so lots of things are upsetting to the child. But after a bit, things calm down and life is back to normal. So she’ll be getting sponge baths till then.

Gonna grab a quick walk, then I’ll come back and finish reading. My day is crazy already!

Happy Thursday!

I’m so so sorry. Even when it is anticipated, it is such a shock to the system when it happens. There’s really no way to brace yourself. My heart is breaking for you.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 88 with a fifty percent chance of rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon. We shall see. This was also yestiddy’s forecast but no rain happened. The big item on today’s agenda is mowage. Woo and Hoo. We shall get that done this mornin’ thereby most likely ensurin’ no rain this afternoon. Sup shall be my version of Philly cheesesteaks.

Suse hope you’re better today. I’ve had bouts with vertigo. No fun!

Nettie glad to know DH came through so well!

shades I saw that as well. Thanks for informin’ folks who might not know.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward to makin’ da yahd not look like the worst in da hood! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

I have walked. Daughter has left for work. SIL has one job this morning, and his main job this evening. FCD is out fetching breakfast because I guess he didn’t want anything in the house. Or maybe he’s having blood drawn? He was gone by the time I got back.

As for bolding and italics, at the top of the reply box, there’s a B and an I - highlight the word or words of interest and pick one or the other to bold or italicize - they automatically insert the *** as needed. Lots of handy things among the icons at the top.

I have decided that we shall make our own pizzas for supper. I’m going to make the dough in my bread maker and divide it so we each can create whatever we want. Plus side salads if desired. Daughter will text me when her meetings are over and I’ll drop Roxy off at her classroom so I can run to Food Lion. Then I’ll fetch her back after.

I’m also going to try a bath game - Roxy has a big inflated cow that’s currently covered in crayon. So I’ll see if she wants to wash her cow in the tub. Worth a try. Poor kid will have enough to deal with in a month when she has a new house, new bedroom, new bathroom, new routine.

OK, time to do something constructive.

Roxy needs one of these for her new house! https://tinyurl.com/roxycow

Sort well, my friend. I hope you have few anvils, no Liquid Ass, and that the only dumbbells are your co-irkers!

Morning all. Garbage and recyclables are outside for pickup and my grocery list is complete so I shall shortly head out to Kroger for a few mid-month things. Heel is 95% recovered, guess it was just a pulled muscle that needed some rest. 50-60% chance of rain, it all stayed south and west of me yesterday, much like swampy

Nettie, there are apparently several tests, one like husband-unit got that they get the results back fast and the swab for 5-7 days for folks like me (no symptoms, more of a precaution). Glad he is recovering quickly.

shady, thanks for the news about silensus. Will visit his thread in a bit.

FCM, good luck with the bath game. And I just leave ice I drop on the floor, figuring like your friend it’ll help clean. My brother’s bassets take care of any ice the hits the floor in his house.

OK, need to make myself presentable and forage for sustenance. All y’all take care.

He says it was of the “impale head with a mega-Q-tip” variety.

He says he’s feeling pretty OK today, except for post-surgical pain that we were pretty much expecting. He’s still unsteady enough to be using a cane around the apartment, so I’m staying home with him today.

Good morning. Is so far here. My yard guy has just brought back my car from washing and detailing it, now it will be less frightening to open the door and glance inside. With the stay-at-home avoid-the-virus plan I don’t take it much of anywhere but this morning have to spend hours in it driving to a doctor’s appt in Omaha. About 3 hours driving time. Not looking forward to the 37 little injections but my migraines need the Botox from the magic fingers of Dr. Chad. Plus he is always good for a few laughs. Could use a few of those.

Yesterday evening my housemate cut my hair on the front porch so I look much more ‘sheveled. ‘Tis good to be shorn.

@LH75 gave me a neighborhood 2nd generation pizza place tip to grab lunch at afterwards. I’ll give you all a review when I get back in case you are ever in Omaha-no :roller_coaster: any more but we still have some really good food.

Time to put on going to the dr. clothes. They look just like my regular clothes, except the t shirt is clean.

Boo

Happy Thorsday!

It was a dark and chilly 61 degrees at the dog park this morning. I wish I had worn my hoodie. Wasn’t too bad until the wind blew. So dark too that I had to wait a bit to clean up behind Echo. It’s hard enough to find as the grass needs to be mowed without trying to find it in the dark.

I came home and put a load of clothes in the washer. Ate some breakfast and fell asleep.
I got up a little earlier than I wanted this morning, thanks to a weird ass dream. I woke up when some man was trying to put my hair on fire. All I wanted was my car keys.
Probably dreamed about that because I lost a set of keys yesterday. I told my son when I got up that as soon as I got back from the park, we were going to find the keys. I seldom lose stuff like that, and I found them shortly afterwards. I remembered having them in my hand when I was looking for something. I have a cute little box that I keep on the table next to my chair. It holds a few things that I want handy when I’m irking, like a nail file and such. I had dropped my keys in the box when I was looking for something else.

I picked up my neighbor from the hospital. Next time I’m taking the dogs. While I was waiting for him a a little old lady asked for a ride. Uh no, I don’t know you and you reek of urine. Not that I was that rude, I told her the truth, that I had to be to irk by 6. She had a ride coming anyway, and they picked her up before my neighbor came out. My neighbor didn’t get out until 6:15, he was discharged at 5, but it took that long to get his meds. So I was late to irk anyway.
I need to send them an email.

Good luck at the doc Boo.
Glad your hubby is safely home Nettie.

I was talking to a guy at the park about my fence. He says there is an Amish lumber yard near here and they are always fully stocked. He says you just drive up, load up what you want, then somebody comes out and tells you what it costs. Always cheaper then the other lumber yards. I let the lawn/fence guy know about it. Hopefully, he can get the posts sooner and cheaper.

MetalMouse, I had a pain in my heel for a while. Hurt worse in the morning and the more I walked on it the better it felt. Then one morning the pain was gone.

I need to finish laundry, and go to irk, and do whatever else needs doing around here.
It never ends.

Hey there everybody! Life always seems to get out of (my) control, and then the next thing I know another day/week/month goes by and I never seem to have the time I need to get everything done. I bet if my dad were still here he would tell me that is just a part of being olde. He seemed to really get a kick out of telling me whatever I was whining about was just another sign of becoming olde. Ahahaha dad, lol!

So, I have two beautiful surprises coming, and since this is where I come to bitch and moan, you all deserve to hear from a happy kaiwik!

First, if we are friends on the Book of Faces then you have probably become aware, and if we aren’t (and why aren’t we if we aren’t, hmmm?) then here is the shortest prego story ever told! My #3 daughter (#3 because she is my third child as well as being my 3rd daughter) (from now until the time when she actually makes an account here, she shall be known as Daisy, and her SO shall be Irish, because he is!) so Daisy is pregnant. Very pregnant. She looks as though she is smuggling a beach ball under her clothes. Her due date was 08/14, and unless she goes into labor before 8:00 pm tonight we all will head to the hospital and she shall be induced. So, either tonight or tomorrow I will have a new granddaughter in my arms! I just love babies, and the fact that this one will be raised in my home just makes my heart swell with joy. :hugs:  :hugs:

There is more, but I can tell that I am properly medicated as I am feeling chatty. I hope I have amused you with my rambles, if not, sorry. I just cut this post in half, and I was nowhere near being done, lol! I saved the other half, and if I get back here I will post it.

I hope that everyone is well, I would be okay with getting to the end of the virus without losing anyone I know, either irl or my internet people.

ttfn!

You so funneeeeeee! :stuck_out_tongue:

SIL’s morning gig ended up not happening, so he’s been wrangling Roxy and I got to run to the store in Charlotte Hall. On the way back, I stopped at the Amish market by the library. Apart from all the signs that said “Don’t touch our food!!!”, there were the prices. $7 for one of those small green pint boxes of tomatoes. Cukes were 2 for $3!!! Nope! BIG nope.

But closer to home, there’s a farm/corn maze place that had a sign for peaches, so I decided to stop there.

WOOHOO!!!
Cukes were 3/$1, zucchini - 39¢/lb, 'maters - 49¢/lb. I got 4 huge 'maters, 3 cukes, 2 zukes/2 yellows squishes, and 4 purdy peaches - all for $5.49!! SCORE!!! I could have gotten a cheap green pepper also, but I bought one at Food Lion already. But now I know - cheaper and lots closer.

I’ve got a dozen eggs boiling - some will be deviled, some will just go in the fridge. After Roxy goes down for her nap, I’ll cut up the various toppings for pizza. And I’ll plant the bulbs my mom sent to me. So a full afternoon ahead.
