Halfway thru the year in the MMP

help. my parents are crazy. my extended family is crazy. please help. send patience and more beer. lots.

You need to learn how to smoke weed. You have to practice so you don’t do that telltale cough. That’s the only way I keep smiling through our dysfunctional family reunions.

Same, darling. Same. Plus the world’s gone nutz - it’s just too much some days, too much, too much.

Evening all. About 12:30 this afternoon they plumbers called and…their leak detection equipment was tied up and they’ll be here tomorrow…so I went out with my shut-off tool and shut the water off. And the meter stopped moving, so I guess I do have a major leak somewhere, but so far neither lawn or house has sunk below ground. But not having water (except the bottled type) is a bit of a pain and I never did make it out of the house to swim or do anything. Hopefully they will be here early tomorrow and we can get this solved.

So watched TV and read and managed not to nap, but very little accomplished. Not a great day.

So…it sounds like I wasn’t the only one to have a no-good, terrible day…

shoe, lovely guests, your parents.

Well, you are tattoo’ed, currently lack employment, and do partake of the leaf, but you will NEVER be a LOSER in our eyes!!!

nellie, lovely comebacks.

JtC, bad news on the waterbed (never have had one) and the store’s stubbornness in correcting things. And glad Husband unit saw the light on the laptop.

FCM, hope the kids don’t fuss much if they are achy from the shots.

Sunny, would gladly send patience but my supplies are a bit stretched now. As for beer, if you ever get to N. Ali-bama, it’s on me.

OK, enough depressing stuff for now. Hopefully if I stink up the joint tomorrow the plumbers will hurry to finish (may have to turn the water back on tomorrow for a bit for the toilets). All y’all take care.

So it got up to 102 today(a record), and the heat index hit 115(also a record). I also had severe thunderstorms(but not at the apartment), and flash flooding(also not at the apartment). it’s not gonna be pleasant at work tonight(but not as bad as it was for Day and Twilight shift today)

Make a bigger hole.
And congrats on the new PC!

I would have fed them to Charm and Pretzel. Sorry the visit sucked.

: email beer :

It doesn’t mean the meter isn’t bad… it truly isn’t possible for that much water to be going somewhere that isn’t a pool or a lake. I hope you get it figured out tomorrow. If the plumber doesn’t have any luck, maybe you can tell us which make and model the meter is. I’d be glad to do some research on failure points, and how to check for same.

Well, my recent family meeting ended with my mother declaring that her 80th birthday gathering was turning into too much trouble and maybe folks should just turn up whenever they wanted and people could just bump into each other in the area (yes, passive aggressiveness is one of her skills), my sister announcing that her daughter would essentially be scarred for life by missing her school activity to attend my mom’s party and also could I watch her dog for 2 weeks, my dad doing too many aggravating things to list, and me essentially saying “well, gotta go” and exiting stage left. I will end up making the reservations, managing the event, and being the general dogsbody because This Is The Way. Yes, I will also watch the dog, and my parents’ animals because they are leaving town too. Woe. Woe is me.

Second beer, second edible. I should have started earlier.

Howdy everyone!

My ceiling job got finished. There’s still little minor touch ups that need doing.

My new plantation shutters that I ordered at least three months ago are in and will be installed at 1PM tomorrow. I’m excited for this. This also means I need to wash windows in the morning. It’s only five windows. Shouldn’t take too long.

Tis still major hot here. There was rain all around us but nary a drop to be had here.

MetalMouse here’s hoping you get this water situation all sorted.

Stay cool and healthy y’all.

Ohhhhh … she and my mother could have a fun dance-off.
I think my mother earned a triple world championship belt in the P/A battles a few years back.
Sadly - or happily, depending on perspective - age has worn away some of her sharpest edges.

Oh, goody. Tonight’s ammunition show has started.

Imma crank up music and/or pink noise. And repeat constantly: “It’s not gunfire. It’s not gunfire.”

They trashed the Arby’s sign, amd are tearing down the Char-Grill and the round Holiday Inn? There is no God :sob: :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

We used to notice that all the time about Ocala - we’d see the weather radar and worry that FCD’s folks were in the thick of it, then we’d call and they’d tell us they got nothing. Weird.

Stoopit bladder woke me around 3:30 and I’ve been up ever sense. My usual trick of stoopit tablet games didn’t help. I was dozing off while playing, but as soon as I put the tablet down - AWAKE!!! Dammit. So at 5, I gave up and got up. I’m showered, dressed, just finished breakfast, and I’m caffeinating.

I did figure out why lifting Tobias is such a challenge - that kid is over 20#!! (His sister is around 44#.) I don’t need to join a gym - I just need to keep picking up that boy thruout the day. Here’s hoping he’s not crabby today after his shot - he’s usually in very good spirits.

My only non-babby chore today is loading the truck so FCD can take the trash and recycling. I know he’ll go to the boat this morning, but he can take the trash before supper. I’d do it, but I’m not going to take the Tobester in the truck, and I won’t be done with the kids till after the convenience center is closed.

Anyway, onward into the day! Happy Thursday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slugabed until seven-thirty! :sleeping_bed: ‘Tis 79 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 95 and mostly N.O.S. for the day with a bajillion percent humidity for the day. Gonna be a hawt one! I need to pick up some ‘scripts today and will perform a few other errands whilst out and about. Followin’ that there will be sloth, quality cee-mint pond time, day drinkin’, general overall uselessness and a late N.O.L./early sup at the not to shabby Chinese hog trough buffet. Thus it shall be today in swampland.

I have read all, but retained next to nuttin’, so, yays, boos, hugs, trouts, chitlins, noogies, and how you doin’s all around as needed.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Very grouchy morning in my household. The cats were having a mild tiff (no evidence of significant violence, just a lot of rude commentary) and DH greeted me as soon as I emerged from the bedroom with the news that some cornbread I’d made for him yesterday was a flop (I followed the directions on the mix!). No “good morning” or other social pleasantry, just jumped right into my culinary failure.

My lower back hurts from dumping and washing the litterbox, and I’m still facing refilling the damn thing once it’s dry.

TVCTPMO, domestic division, needs to lay off. Probably better disregard worries about carb intake and have some chocolate.

Good morning everyone.

Currently a warmish 61 degrees with an expected high of 75 and clouds. It rained off and on yesterday, but there isn’t any rain forecasted for today.

I have to take a last-minute trip to Central Washington (over the passes) to meet a mover for a walk-through so he can finalize his quote. I’m to meet him tomorrow, but I’m driving over today because I don’t feel like driving 3.5 hours each way in one day and fighting traffic both ways.

Ugh, I typed several paragraphs about this whole office relocation thing, but I’ve deleted it. Bottom line up front; I will be readjusting some folks’ expectations about my role and theirs with regards to this office move. I am not the OB(office bitch), nor am I their personal packer or laboror. I am management, my role is to DIRECT a move and I think some people need to hear that. I’m not packing their shit, that’s their job and they need to get over themselves. There’s a whole long drama associated with what went down yesterday, but suffice it to say things are going to change and they’re not going to like it.

I’m sorry your morning was crappy, seanette. I think chocolate is definitely in order.

I hope you all have a terrific day!

More adventures in quilting: I am heading off to our favorite fabric store today to take a class in how to operate a long arm machine. This is the sewing machine used to sew the front of a quilt to the back and sandwich the batting between using decorative sewing techniques.

This quilting process is always very expensive to hire it done, costing up to $250.00, depending on the size. Once I finish this class I can rent time on their long arms for $13.00 and hour. I am not planning to go into business for this but this will be a significant savings for the quilts my wife and I make.

Morning all. Up early and turned the water on so I could bathe and use the facilities, then turned it back off. Also moved the car out of the garage and to the curb so I wouldn’t be trapped when the plumbers come. Amazed that my brain functioned that well this early! Now comes the waiting for the call of when they are coming.

hippie, sounds like an interesting hobby and you’re smart in investing now to payoff later.

Taters, I had to do the office shuffle more than once, and I always had to pack out my stuff and disconnect the computers (they did move the boxes and desks). Can’t believe some folks think they are above packing. Go get’em!

Seanette, DH needs sensitivity training…  Or to be hit with a waffle .
iron. Chocolate is definitely prescribed

Butters, pics of the new shutters once installed would be nice.

Sunny, I am thinking that might even be a 3-beer day. Family, can’t live with them, can’t drop a nuclear device on them…

For those of you discussing the need for chocolate, I’m stepping out of just stalking you all, and posting to say that today is World Chocolate Day. So, let’s all celebrate appropriately!

Trying to establish a new routine with the kidlet. I moved the pack-n-play to the back bedroom that tends to be darker during the day. Once he started getting tired/hungry/cranky, I put him in and gave him his bottle. When he finished, I covered him and tiptoed out. I’ve got a monitor in there so I’ll hear if he fusses. I think it’s better for him to sleep there than in his swing, plus it’s quieter in the bedroom. We’ll see how long before he gets used to it.

Now, some quiet time before lunch. I emptied the dishwasher - go me!

Thanks for the info, @kayT, and please do continue to add to the chaos.
