My niece sent this to me.
I really do love this trend of flash mobbing. It’s like anti-terrorism. Instead of bombs and death it’s dance numbers and singing.
Same here, I’ve enjoyed every one of the flash mobbing videos I’ve seen. This is truly a joyful one, very season-appropriate. Thanks, ExTank.
Wow, those singers were really good. It must be a well trained choir. All very tightly together, and the sopranos hitting those stratospheric high notes. That must have been an amazing sound experience to be sitting inside the choir, with the music coming from all around you.
Thanks** ExTank.** You’ve brightened my holidays. Hope you have a very good Christmas.
Wow. That’s amazing. Did you notice how everything got very quiet when the guy on the organ hit the first few notes (by the 5th note?) but well before the lady started to sing?
Alas this would ever work in the U.K…
because by tradition, everyone stands for the Hallelujah Chorus
It’s like you can’t even enjoy a Hot Sam pretzel and an Orange Julius anymore without some darned flash mob gettin’ all up in your business.
Actually I had a big old grin on my face for the entire video, though I was kinda hoping it was the Leonard Cohen version of Hallelujah.
I saw that yesterday on someone’s blog. I’ve watched it twice so far. It’s amazing. I like that the lead soprano is on her iPhone the whole time. And the guy waving the Caution sign is great.
WTF? I don’t have speakers on my work computer, so I didn’t hear it at all, but I looked at it. And I’m nearly bawling… I’ve gotten to be such a weenie in my old age.
Well, here too, but the last place I’d expect to hear it would be in the food court of the mall!
Awesome!
Re: the British tradition in America
Really? How did that arise?
And does anyone else think that the girl at 2:50 is hot? She can sing for me any time.
I was thinking exactly the same thing.
Cool!
Before I actually clicked the link, I was expecting it to be this.
Something about these people singing in street clothes instead of choir robes or costumes makes it all the more wonderful for me. Especially the first dude who sang, who looked pretty ratty but sounded like a real pro opera singer.
I like how all of the singers went back to their lunches at the end too
Thanks, ExTank!
I just rewatched that part. You can still here all the mall patrons talking, it’s just quieter. I’m thinking they turned the volume down (in post processing or made the mics less sensitive) since she was sooo much louder then the crowd.
You’re all welcome.
And I thanked my niece, too, for sending it out.
Very Cool!!
That mall’s about a 30 min. drive from my place. The last time I was in that food court was on a Saturday morning about 7 years ago, hungover, and wondering how the hell I was going to get home (long story). I don’t think I would have appreciated a spontaneous Hallelujah chorus breaking out then considering my delicate condition, but I appreciate it a lot now. Thanks!
Forwarding it to a bunch of friends and family…
I cracked up at the girl that started the whole thing had the phone up to her ear the whole time. Were they feeding her the lines through the phone, or did she just want to sing to someone???
Oh man, I hate interruptions to my meals.
