Happy 70th Birthday to Ringo Starr

And I suddenly feel very, very old.

Me too…

Thank you for that.

Happy birthday! Given that he’s the luckiest man in the world, I’ve no doubt he’ll have many, many, many happy returns to come. I’m betting he hits 120.

Peace and love, Ringo. Many happy returns!

His birthday wish is that we’ll all stop whatever we’re doing at noon, throw peace signs and say “Peace and Love”. I’m all for it.

“Peace and love. Peace and love.”

My chairman sent me a note saying that he believes Ringo will live forever. Of course he will – I think he’s been feeding off Keith Richards’ life-force since 1963. After all, Lennon and McCartney did give ‘I Wanna Be Your Man’ to the Stones so they could finally have a hit, and Ringo sang lead vocals on the original…

Subsequently, Ringo looks pretty good for his age, and Keef doesn’t look a day under 3,000 (I give a quiz every term with a current photo of Keith next to a photo of the mummy of Ramses II, and ask the kids, ok, who’s older. The mummy is in seriously better looking condition.)

Huh. I think I have the makings of a conference paper here. Oh well, Ringo, happy birthday, and here’s hoping no one cuts the head off your topiary simulacrum this year.

Peace and love!

I think you’re right:

Ramses II

Keith Richards

Hey, he has a new album out (Y Not), and constantly tours with his All-Starr Band. Not bad for a man of 70. I wish I had half his energy. Ringo is truly ageless.

That’s because he takes his time, and he doesn’t rush things. It did cost him a James Bond theme, though :stuck_out_tongue:

Just watching a blurb about this on the news right now. Damn, that dude does not look 70!! If I met him on the street, I’d think he was maybe 50 - 55. Is that him, or make-up? Didn’t seem like make-up.

I think he could *easily *pass for 50.

And Barbara Bach is looking pretty good at 62 herself…

Happy Birthday, Richie. Peace and Love.

It was always a big argument over how good a drummer Ringo was. There were people such as Albert Goldman who thought he was heavy handed, getting the job because Pete Best was more popular with the girls than John and Paul. Others, such as John, defended him saying people love Watts and Wyman with the Stones. I think they are great but Paul and Ringo were a better rhythm section than them. The thing is Paul is modest about his bass playing and such an egomaniac about everything else.

It’s also nice that his marriage to Barbara Bach has lasted 30 years. Just as long as we don’t have to watch “Caveman” to celebrate it.
