Yesterday, I decided to quit smoking again. I didn’t do it because it was your birthday, but I do remember vividly how supportive you were of me in my last attempt, a year ago. For that, I will always think of you as one of the most awesome people around.

Cristi, I hate to admit it, but after 7½ months of non-smoking, I started again in late December. I’ve tried a half dozen times (obviously not hard enough) between then and now to quit again and I just can’t seem to do it. I even said I’d make that my birthday present to myself this year (said as I puff away on a cancer stick right now). Those threads were amazing - so inspirational. You are awesome, too. I really, really appreciate all the support you gave me. As I’ve proven time and again since, I couldn’t have done it without you and all the caring people who offered their encouragement. Perhaps we ought to consider trying that approach again. (?) Congratulations on your decision and best of luck to you! And thank you for the birthday wishes.

elelle, I had a long, long weekend (the bossman gave me Thursday off and I only worked a half day on Friday so it wasn’t really like working), AND I had my best girlfriend in town to boot. And I definitely enjoyed my adolescence on my birthday - just ask Heloise and Brenda! Hehe
