Happy Happy! Chris Morris is back on TV! Joy Joy! Hes doing Nathan Barley!!

For those of you who don’t already know this, Chris Morris is the genius behind Brass Eye; the Day Today; Blue Jam and some of the best radio around.

He is doing a series (TV) around Nathan Barley – one of my favourite comic creations of the last decade. If you don’t know about Nathan Barley – google is your friend – but the language is not office-safe.

Nathan Barley was created by the equally wonderful Charlie Brooker on TV Go Home (again well worth a look)

The series is advertised around London as a spoof mobile phone ad – the “Speechtool” posters are Mr Barley.

I can’t wait – Chris Morris has been off the TV for far too long.

Wow! Chris Morris always gives me the heebie jeebies though he’s a genius, and Brooker has a very similar sense of humour. I anticipate in horrified amusement. Or amused horror.

It’s hard to see Chris Morris’ work over here in the States, but I managed to get a CD of his “interviews” with Sir Arthur Streeb-Grebling (née Peter Cook), and they’re brilliant. The idea of him doing Nathan Barley is pretty amazing, though I can’t quite see how actually “seeing” Nathan could be funnier than reading about him on TVGoHome.

I like the nature programmes in TV Go Home “Look at the tiger. Look at the fcking tiger, we spent months here wating for this poxy tiger, so look at the fcking tiger”…
