So much for being productive in the office this morning… the one program I needed to finish my write up went all wonky on me - again. I just had it fixed last week! So instead I did my personal assessment submission and emailed that to my boss, then worked up my travel claim and waded thru my email.
I had arrived to find a pizza box with 2 congealed pieces of pepperoni pizza sitting on my desk. Swell. Apparently when I was gone, my cube became party central. I was not impressed. I thought about sending an email out to everyone telling them to not do that, but I decided to let it pass. Idiots.
So I came home after less than 2 hours. I’ve done laundry and vacuumed the house. As soon as I unload the dryer, we’re headed to the boat to talk about replacing the headliner. But mostly we won’t be doing anything today. Which is good.
It was a good part, I didn’t drink much, but I was out until 3 (old time) and I’m tired. Didin’t make it to church, but the RCIA guy is coming at two, and I have to make the livingroom (which is in post-Hallowe’een-part-chaos) look respectable.
There were two slut nurses leading a girl in a straightjacket, three… no, four guys in armour, two mermaids, a Marie Antoinette, three or four guys in various 18th century getups, with wigs, a bunch of dark fairies, a guy in an old-fashioned English soldier’s uniform made of vinyl, a really impressive deer costume, and a guy who looked *exactly/i] like Ricky, from The Trailer Park Boys.
And a lot I’m forgetting. Lots of people just in masks or little horns or cat face paint.
And what did you and Mr. Lissar dress up as? Hope the RCIA guy works out well.
I’m back from church and straightening stuff up at the park. There were a few corn stalks that had fallen over, a ghost that had become partly detached, and a witch whose eye had fallen out. Repaired all that and then came home.
After volunteering at this park for 5 years, I discovered last week that there’s a route that is almost 10 minutes shorter than the other two alternatives I’ve been using. I took it home last week because there was a home football game and I wanted to avoid traffic; just about fell over when I realized how much quicker I get home. I just looked at the map again and still can’t see how it can be that much shorter, but I drove it again today and got the same results. Color me
The movie of the day (while I’m cleaning the living room) is Grosse Pointe Blank. Also, I’m going to have lunch.
I’m waiting on butter to soften. I know I could do the nuke it thing and get it softer quicker but it’s not as squishy as when it softens by being left out to soften. Why, you ask, am I doing this? Well, cause I have to make a batch of my world renowned cheese crisps. They shall be a munchie at the official unveiling of the City of Camilla, GA Christmas ornament which shall occur tomorrow afternoon. Fortunately, I don’t have to be there (YAY!), just my cheese crisps. I’d rather they go than me.
Oh and because I just know each and every one of ya is on pins and needles wondering just what all the beautimous Christmas ornaments we hawk every year look like, I have very generously decided to share a link. Behold. Just click on the links for the ornaments so that you may gaze upon the glory.
Cheese crisps are done. Actually they were done almost an hour ago. I cheated and did the nuke thang on the butter cause I was tired of waiting. Besides, I had to make the dang things before I could have a beerverage, cause, well, ovens and alcohol don’t mix. I did a test sample and pronounced ‘em good. They are in a baggie sittin’ in my vehicle awaiting transport to the work place tomorrow. I have a habit of putting stuff in my vehicle that I need to remember to take with me the night before cause I’m afraid I’ll forget in the morning. This is a fear second only to the dreaded running out of toilet paper fear, which is the worst fear ever!
Mr. Taters is on a bit of cooking, domestic thingy today. We ran to the store and picked up the ingredients for beef burgundy, bread, and ice cream. The beef burgundy is almost done, the bread is baked, and the ice cream is currently whirring away in the ice cream maker. In fact, Mr. Taters is feeling so like cooking today, that he is currently making another loaf of bread for our friends.
Other than that, we haven’t done anything but play games on the computer. I haven’t even read my paper today! Soon, I’ll mix up some flour and water, and add it to the beef burgundy mixture, let it thicken for awhile and boil up and butter some egg noodles while the beef burgundy mixture is thickening.
I should do some more laundry. I’m sure I’ll get to a load or two more today.
Back from running errands. Bought exciting groceries and then came home to make myself a pleasant dinner of ham, potatoes and raclette cheese, with green beans on the side.
I, too, am doing laundry. Probably two loads to go. And two ready to be put away.
I’ve even been a good girl and put the recycling out already.
I’m in on the cheese crisp order. I think we should have an MMP potluck. One of us needs to get fabulously wealthy so that we can get together and do that…
Hi
I’m home
I’m tired
Tell you all about the weekend in the MMP OP tomorrow
Happy everything to all - I’ll steal a bit of Spats’ thunder and leave you with this Hallowe’em pun:
Oh! Can I volunteer to become fabulously wealthy? Who do I need to speak to? Where do I sign?
I’ll bring a vat of my chili!
ahem
So, anyway. The wife decided instead of taking a nap she’d make pasta sauce. We both make good pasta sauce, but she adds too much water, so when she’s not looking I add a bit of flour to it to thicken it up. Shhhh…
I also signed up with eMusic. 25 free downloads during the free trial that you can keep even if you don’t stay on is a pretty good deal. They don’t have licenses with any of the major labels, but they’re a great font of indie label stuff, which includes some stuff I actually may stay on for, at least for a few months so I can grab what I like. I grabbed some obscure, hard to find stuff so far, and have plans to grab s’more albums on the basic $10 40-song-per-month plan. Some good stuff to feed my iPod with anyway, and the price is right. (And yes, they’re completely legit; I checked 'em out, and their inexpensive pricing is precisely because they don’t have licenses with any major labels, so you get a bunch of cool indie stuff cheap)
sigh Back to the grind tomorrow – and another MMP.
Thanks for the cheering thoughts, DB! I haven’t given up hope yet. I usually don’t give up hope competely until the end of the last game of the season/playoffs. Season before last we ended the regular season in fifth place and came back to win the Championship. A good ass-whuppin’ may be what some of these guys needed to knock some of the cockiness out of them.
I need to go to bed, so I can get up early and get things finished out here so I can go get the new baby. I’m so excited!
