Happy/Merry HalloThanksMas The MMP

Back from work. A little slower, guess everyone is broke and tired from the State Fair. I’m having leftover rice and chicken for dinner, with frozen grapes for dessert.

SCL 80 penalty minutes in one game?!? Rod Brind 'Amour only has 89 in 17 seasons.

Jahdra, I don’t feel fresh either.

Fcm, you’re lucky. Lucretia prefers to sit in front of me, usually with her butt in my face. For your self assessment, use a quote from Clerks: “I’m a firm believer in a ruling class, because I rule!”

Welcome (back?) Lucky and Morgyn!

Not Conservatively??? :stuck_out_tongue:

Ok, everybody root for the Giants to hang on here…if they win, I win this week’s pool, $165 is mine, mine, MINE I tell you!!!

I’ll do it for a beerverage or 3

  **dogbutler**, Cheesehead

I think I might love you. This could lead to proposals, except I may have enough Husbands. Speaking of which, at work, I had a sudden premonition that Driving Husband was at my place, so I called his cell phone.

“Guess where I am?” he said.

“On your way to my place”, I replied.

“Two blocks!” quoth he.

I’m psychic.
Jahdra, I need to go bra-shopping. Feel free to share that with your co-worker.
Bedtime.

Happy/Merry HallowThanksMas! Or, as they say on the Virgin Mobile commercial, Happy Christmahanukwanzaakah! Great OP, Swampy. And good on you for all the coats. There’s going to be lots of happy people receiving those coats. As my mother would say, cast thy bread upon the waters.

Congrats on your player sponsee, SCL! Keeping fingers crossed that he doesn’t get cut.

Great cat pic, FCM!

I’ve never heard of Allan’s imitation theoretically chocolate-flavored waxy substance, but it definitely sounds like something I wouldn’t be fond of. Lindt truffles are the BEST. Especially the dark chocolate and white chocolate. Although their white chocolate truffle bars are also to die for. Speaking of which, I’m definitely overdue for one.

This is mostly a drive-by; it’s taken me all day to find time to read through a page and a half of this thread, which is ridiculous. But I am sitting here in absolute awe of this interpreter on this job I’m working on. The woman can listen to the witness ramble on for several minutes, and then turn around and spit back a complete translation without any hesitation whatsoever, and without leaving out any details. She’s not just multilingual, she apparently has incredible memory training. In 20 years in this biz, she definitely wins the award for Best Interpreter Ever. I can just tell how thrilled you all are to learn that, too.

And now back to it. Sigh. Why is it that recently, I’ve only been coming awake and at my most productive for working at about 11 pm? I don’t know, but it’s getting real old real fast.

I taught all day Saturday, which was pretty fun, and then spent Sunday fairly wiped out from the flu shot I had last week. The good news is that this was the last set of shots before my trip, so from here on out it’s all oral anti-malarials and antibiotics if needed. Today I dragged myself over to another college and taught somebody’s class for an hour and a half. It went well, and I was observed by a co-worker who’s never had a chance to watch me teach, but it wiped me out. Then I came home and spent several hours on Hannukah shopping, because my family exchanges gifts the day after Thanksgiving since that’s the only time we’re all together. I’m going to be at a conference dtarting next week, and then overseas for a little under two weeks, so by the time I get back, it’s Thankhnukah.

OK, Shoshana, you can’t stop in here, tell us about antimalarials and not tell us where you’re going. There’s a rule! [sub]Shhhhhhhhh! She doesn’t need to know there’s no rules!!![/sub]

I see the Giants won. (I went over to Yahoo sports just to check on them.) So, what do I win?

I normally buy Ritter Sport bars for everyday chocolate. Lindt for special occasions. Hershey’s is OK at work, but I’ve discovered that Nestle has apparently forgotten how to make chocolate. Co-worker has a jar of chocolate and stocked it with Nestle miniatures. I’ve never tried Allan’s, but I’m afraid they may have a rival.

I’ve been awake for more than an hour. Finally gave up and decided to cruise the boards and start having breakfast.

Are you sure Driving Husband actually has a place of his own? It’s possible he just wanders around between stops at your house, LiLi.

Nice lunch today - I’m being taken out for a belated Boss’s Day lunch. Yay!

Gives me something to look forward to.

Off to think about what to wear today.

GT

Wow we got new folks. Or at least folks who don’t come around very much. I feel so honored y’all are choosing to check out the MMP this week. Howdy there Shoshana and Lucky!. Where ya goin’ Shoshana? [del]Extremely nosy[/del] Inquiring cool kids want to know.

I had a MickeyD’s bacon, egg and cheese biscuit for breakfast. I had a craving for one this morning. Ya know, those things go down and kinda just lay there. I feel like I have a rock in my tummy. But it was nummy and warm. It’s  40 degrees Amurkin outside right now.

LiLi, Mindfield could be your Sends Me Good Chocolate Husband. Surely you need one of those.

Yay MBG won the pool. Lunch on him today!

Rigs thanks for the compliment.

In honor of my latest compliment, I have edited my sigline. Behold!

Yesterday my cell ran at 1:30pm but it was nobody. No idea how did “nobody” manage to call me, but anyway I took it and nobody answered.

Left work at 16:15… my tummy was acting up big time and in two consecutive moments of lucidity I thought “gee, if I was home, I’d just be scrunched up in a corner of the sofa with a big cup of tea, not giving a damn whether the world ended” and then “ok, so what the hell am I doing here, then?” and my supervisor didn’t have any problems with letting me leave. Apparently I was looking pretty green. I’m OK today.

On the way home, the cell rang. It was the company from Tudela that had asked for my cv last week, they want to interview me Friday. I also had an interview for A Couple Central European Countries last Friday (they are supposed to answer tomorrow) and may get another for Another European Country Followed By An Asiatic Country one of these days.

The Tudela people had called Mom’s before, though, so right now she’s more nervous than I am :stuck_out_tongue:

Is there such a thing as a Job Opera? Hm… wonder if I can use my last 12 jobs or so for NaNoWriMo, but it’s not really a novel… Would a Job Opera count as a novel if the main character manages to live happily ever after (or at least until next paycheck)?

it’d be a novel if you changed the names to protect the, well, everybody

I’m…I’m…I’m flabbergasted! I am honored!
[The Jerk reference]I’m somebody! I’m somebody![TJr]

Off to shelve books-and I really do try to do it conservatively…that is, I try to shelve as few as possible during my grueling 3 hour shift…
The Rule here is that no-one can go anywhere without MMPers approval. Those shots may have all been for nothing, Missy Shoshana…you get back here and tell us where your bound.

Beautiful day here in Chicagoland. I need desperately to winterize the pots and clean the patio furniture and store it. Where do I find the time? Stay tuned…

It’s Arctic in my office. Yesterday, I was okay with it, because it was Monday. Today, I’m very upset.

And I had to start my Halloween costume all over again because I suck at sewing. But I shall prevail. I’ll have something to wear Saturday even if I have to glue it to myself and call it good.

Gratz on your somebodyness, rigs. Now, will you kindly explain what’s your relationship to my mother? I do know her English is not this good, you can’t be her!

Seconding the ‘beautiful day’ from rigs.

This is what fall should be about, sunshine and just a bit of a chill in the air. All well and good, but I’m stuck inside most of the best part of the day.

Of course, I do have that pool winnings to look forward to the Wife bringing home for me!

Oh, I see. That’s how it is, is it? Y’all just want me for my taste in chocolate? I feel so … so used.

Just wait 'til my Baked Goods Wife hears about this.

I rather like my office. It’s mostly separated by a load-bearing firewall (the cement kind, not the digital kind) but there’s an opening into the other section of the office. Kind of like a more permanent cubicle except there are three desks in my office and two in the other (though I’m the only one in my section). The other section, where my supervisor sits, has the benefit of being where the heating/AC vent is. Unfortunately because of the firewall, it can be routed into my section of the office. So intead, I have my own personal baseboard heater. During the winter, it means I can have it as warm or cool as I like it, because I have the controls.

Doesn’t do much good during the summer, but I also have my own fan by my desk for that.

Morning all! It’s a nice crisp 35 degrees Fahrenheit. I’m having coffee and the paper. I think Maggie has been scamming me. The last year or so, she has needed help climbing into bed. This morning, the lawn crew has been mowing and trimming, so the dog lept into her chair to bark at them. I swear she must have Ent in her.

Nava, I got an odd message on my machine the other day. It was an annoyed women who either said “Call me back”, or “Commie bastard”.

rigs, congrats on being somebody. I got noticed by Bosda once.

I have a headache. :frowning: I think I should have skipped the gym this morning and just slept in. Maybe I’d be more motivated now if I had.

The only good chocolate is really dark chocolate, like a minimum of 70% cocoa. The white stuff doesn’t even deserve the word “chocolate” in its name.

Maybe I should go find some chocolate. Maybe that’d make this headache go away. Or at least it might improve my disposition. Grrr. I think maybe I’ll actually growl at someone today. It might be fun to see what happens. Grrrr.

I’ve just checked with whoever’s in charge of heating things–our heat is broken. Just this one section of the floor. So, I’ll go over to Customer Service to warm up every half hour or so until it’s fixed.

I’ve got nine Husbands so far, and some of them are for far more mundane things than chocolate. Lazy Husband, for instance. And Dishwashing Husband.

I woke early-ish but lazed around in bed. I’ve got to go downtown to pick up copies of our wedding certificate (to Mr. Lissar, all the others were private ceremonies :D) and our baptism certificates, buy bagels, maybe go bra-shopping, meet Quasi-Daughter for lunch, come home and do chores, and then go to RCIA this evening, again downtown. So today will be a little busy.

The bagels are from a special, Montreal style bagel place. That is why I have to travel far for them.

I should buy a transit day pass.
