taxi it has been my experience that sometimes a good grrrrr is what’s needed.
I had to go run an errand a little earlier, so natch, I stopped off at the wonderful coffee shop in downtown. Hey, I was within three blocks of it, that means it was close. I got me a medium mocha latte. Good thing I didn’t get a large, or I’d be climbin’ the roof right now. WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! CAAAAAAFFFFIIIIIEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNNEEEEEE BUUUUUUUUZZZZZZZZ!!!
I’ve never liked dark chocolate. I always found it too bitter and harsh, not enough sweetness or smoothness to appeal to my sensibilities. White chocolate, technically, isn’t chocolate at all. It’s cocoa butter, so in a narrow sense you’re correct; it doesn’t deserve the name chocolate. Since it’s derived from the cocoa bean however, I’m willing to let that slide, particularly in light of the fact that white chocolate is an orgasm for the mouth. An oralgasm, if you will.
I am also a lover of good, quality dark chocolate and the higher the cocoa content, the better.
What passes for milk chocolate here in the states is awful. Good Swiss milk chocolate is okay, but, again, I say verily unto all of you, dark chocolate is the food of the gods!
Okay, I finished my significant contributions. I came up with 20 them and it took three pages. I am now waiting for my boss to let me know when I can give them to him and we can go over them…sigh. I have a feeling my performance appraisal will be late this year.
gt, my rating period runs from 1 Nov to 31 Oct of each year. I am also supposed to have an initial and mid-point counseling somewhere during that time frame.
Come April, none of that will matter, as I have been informed that we are “for sure” going to fall under the NSPS system. I am not thrilled. I am not afraid of being paid to perform; that’s the way it should be. What I am afraid of is that it won’t be fully funded and we won’t really see raises. Additionally, under the current system, if one were to be promoted one full grade one receives a twenty percent raise. Under the upcoming rip-off system, you’ll see a FIVE percent increase. It’s a total rip-off. Okay, off my podium now. Sorry about that.
it’s perfectly okay to enjoy the white confection made from cocoa butter, but no cocao liquer - just DON’T call it chocolate. I like the white stuff. I used to onky eat milk chocolate, bt of late I developed a fondness for the dark stuff. I’ve yet to try anything darker than 80%, but I am lookig forward to it. (I know 100% tastes awful, but it must be great for baking)
What’s with the weird phone calls? I came home last night to 2 messages, both heavy breathing.
The housekeeping service finished my house yesterday. However, in their desire to be thorough, they managed to lock me out of the house. It’s funny how there is never anyone around, but while I was breaking the chain lock, about 50 people must have passed by. I think it’s definitely time to get a 2nd house key made, lest I make a habit of this.
I’m on the white train, too. Don’t get me wrong, I like milk, I can deal with dark (if it’s all that’s available), but white’s the way to go, as far as I’m concerned. I don’t care if it’s not “real” chocolate. It’s damn tasty.
And for those interested in a temperature update, it’s warmer outside than it is in the office. There’s a storm front brewing in the hall, where the cold air from Marketing/IT meets the pleasant warmth of Customer Service/Accounting.
I waited too long to pick up my order, the toast was barely warm. But the oatmeal was just right.
I love white chocolate in small doses, especially with peanut butter. If regular chocolate disappeared off the face of the earth, it wouldn’t bother me. I’d miss it, but it wouldn’t be traumatic.
One of the transferred partners has decided that she wants me for her admin. She’s being sneaky, though, since she knows I only support managers. She has her managers call me, and not say who the client is until the very last second. Very clever. So I’m, ah, aggressively charging my time to her clients. It’s a win-win, right?
Coach’s show last night was fun. He didn’t come right out and promise, but it looks as if my player will be a keeper. I was talking with our new player/assistant coach after the game, discussing the new rule enforcement. (DB, that is one reason why the PIMs were so high in that game - hooking and interference are no longer tolerated. Of course, there were at least 8 fights, also.) We have 2 guys on our team who are about 5’6" and fast as hell - AC says he’d hate to play against them under the new enforcement rules. “Before, I’d just grab them as they went by. Can’t do that anymore!” So there are going to be a lot of penalties until the players get used to the new enforcement. Which will really slow down the game. Boo Hiss.
I have to make the trek all the way across town to PetsMart for cat food. Grrr. I also need to get stuff for Connor’s road bag - they’ll be leaving right after the game on Friday for the away game on Saturday.
I need to get moving but would rather sit here and drink coffee. Oh well, PetsMart is open until 9.
