Happy New MMP!

I can’t believe it’s almost 2pm and I haven’t done anything yet today.

Just got the mail and the flippin’ health insurance company sent me a bill saying my payment is due on the 1st and it doesn’t show credit for it already being paid.
I guess it is my fault for paying it well before the due date.
They aren’t crediting the overage I paid last year either.
The only reason there is an overage is because they screwed up the billing last year too.

I’ll be at the doctors all day Moonday so I guess I will be on the phone all day Toosday.
Joy and Happiness!
Or maybe I’ll just let it go and see what happens. After all the guy I talked to last week told me everything is okay.
I want it written in blood.

Heading out in a minute to walk my whopping $2.59 check to the bank. I may treat myself to a bit of cheapie fast food on the walk back, which means lunch will be free both monetarily and calorically. The finches and sparrows are back, and glancing out at them just now I see a few patches of bright blue among all the heavy grey clouds, so it’s time to don some sneakers and hit the road! Glancing out at them also made me realize how grimy the glass has gotten. Time to get adulterated (swampy’s words, not mine) and bust out the Windex.

Package was for a study I’m participating in, testing some facial cleansing products in return for a few bucks. In other words, I’m being paid to keep my face clean. Could be worse.

OYKW made fun of me because I want to take my cute Christmas bear platter to the soiree this evenin’. I have a nice crystal bowl for the pineapple cheese spread and the platter will be for the crackers. I called him a big ol’ meanie and said I would neener in his face tonight the first time someobdy says my Christmas bear platter is cute. I bought some fancy cracked black pepper and rosemary crackers cause I want to be all high falutin’ and fancy tonight.

Dem’s some high falutin’ crackers for certain!! Even classier than Ritz!!

The pulled poke was quite yum! I figure I’ll have 2 bags of it for the freezer, and maybe a wee bit for the fridge. It’s got to cool down first.

I’m still trying to figure out curtains.
It doesn’t help that all the windows are odd sizes.

I came home from irk early because I was exhausted. I can’t push myself as hard as I did ten years ago. It’s official: I am in my mid-30s.

I took a nap which sort of helped. Perhaps tomorrow I’ll be clear-headed enough to actually write some of my story. For now I will attempt to make pizza in a skillet. Maintenance M says this is possible.

I had a nice little nappy poo. Soon we must commence to get purtified for the soiree I reckon.

MOOOOOOM them fancified crackers make Ritz look like crackas from the dollah sto.

Swampy’s a ding-dong!
Wait, you guys clean the inside walls of your smoker? What about the grill? Do you clean the inside walls of that too? I scrub the racks & liquid pan & store them inside as food touches them, but the parts that stay outside don’t get scrubbed because they don’t touch food & stay outside.

I don’t want the inside of the smoker to be all gross and disgusting. So I shall wipe it down after using it. Just because you’re a slob doesn’t mean I have to be! :stuck_out_tongue:

The inside of a barbecue pit is never cleaned, and a cast iron skillet must be carefully cleaned to preserve “the seasoning.” I wonder if the same should be true of smokers.
:dubious:

Time to recline. MWAH!

Home from irk, and the new schedule I’m on (changed departments) feels odd. Aside from deheathenation tomorrow (which now commences at 1100), I have no place I need to be at a set time until 0700 Wednesday.

I’m probably going to need to spend a good chunk of my “days off” on defilthifying the mini-cavern, though. :frowning:

Did a bunch of walking earlier while the weather was nice, accomplished some de-cluttering, and the thinly sliced Cuties are finally simmering away in sugar syrup. Am debating melting a bit of dark chocolate to dip them into – I’ll probably wait and see how they come out first, if they’re good enough to merit chocolate (or too good to gild the lily?) I haven’t candied citrus in a long time, and still remember the only time I tried limes, which came out tooth-peelingly bitter. Infuckingedible. Hope these come out better.

Marinated tuna about to be seared for dinner. Am considering broccoli to go with it, as a nod towards nutrition. I wanted to make chocolate chip cookies but I’m all out of baking powder; we shall see if I get ambitious enough to walk out for some tomorrow AND actually bake, too. I have macadamia nuts in the freezer, I guess I could throw some into the batter.

Ah, who am I kidding, if I do go out for baking powder (and possibly a piece of salmon to go with it; I’ve been craving seafood lately which is quite unlike me) I’ll get halfway towards making cookies and then eat the dough.

I’m a chronic cookie-dough-eater myself. :stuck_out_tongue:

Howdy Y’all! Home from the Epiphany Soiree. ‘Twas a good time as usual. Lots of good company and lots of incredible foods. BTW this is held at the home of one of the church folk. Those who have homes large enough rotate hostin’ this each year. I don’t have near enough room in da cave to do this. I know over a hunnert folks attended tonight. Also, this is an adult thing and someone always volunteers to provide childcare. YP and his wife hired a sitter for that this year.

I do clean the walls of the smoker. I think of it as kinda like an oven and don’t want grease buildup.

OYKW is abed and I shall join him shortly. I’s tahrd!

Nitey Nite Y’all!

The Princess Cat is silly, even by cat standards. She frequently thinks she needs to come into the bathroom with me, and it’s pretty usual for her to use her litterbox while I’m using the people version.

Why she thinks that’s a social activity, I don’t know.

swampy, did people like the bear platter?

The church I grew up in had three big old bells and as kids ringing them you could actually “ride the ropes”. Hey - for farm kids that was a thrill and three quarters!

Got caught out the AM in the freezing rain. We didn’t crash but we say some rather interesting driving techniques and stopped to help one guy who decided to customize his car by applying a telephone pole.

Went to work – and am paying for the 10 days off with some real stiff parts. And as the Old Wench would say not the ones we usually want stiff.

Listening to the Steelers. Not that I want to but where I live I have no choice; the TV barely covers the sound. If they ever leave town, I’ll be the one resident of the city helping them pack.

Home. Gotta get up early for tailgating.

Ruble, the Steelers and Pens both lost tonight. Life is good.

Nettie, Bella has decided that Gordie’s hockey goal is THE BEST CAT TOY EVR!. How’s that for weird?

Good luck at the docs, sari!

Apparently, 4:40 is my internal clock preset for GET UP!!! Even when I tend to bladder relief, then crawl back under the covers, I’m up and that’s that. And so it goes.

My sister and her husband are idiots! They’re both younger than I. He hasn’t worked in some years due to health issues. She’s always held relatively menial jobs, rarely above minimum wage. They’ve “retired” because his mother died and his share of the inheritance will end up being around half a million, once her house sells (waterfront in Annapolis, of all things.) Now, that in itself wouldn’t be a bad thing, but they just bought an RV and they intend to travel the US.

My sister never saved money as a kid. Once she had it, she spent it. I don’t know about BIL, but I do know they have a house with 2 mortgages on it, and in the past year, they’ve gone on 2 cruises. I could be wrong - he might have been a great money manager and they’ve got investments to allow them to be retired, but just over a year ago, they were borrowing money from my mom to pay hospital bills… I know, not my problem. But I still think they’re idiots. And I’m guessing my sister is counting on a pile of cash when our mom dies. It sure won’t be half a million…

On a happier note, despite the rain, it’s supposed to get to near 70° today. And on Wednesday night, we’re looking for 11°. We are not amused.

Happy Sunday anyway.
