Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Another Thanksgiving has arrived. Seems like I was just responding to this same thread a few months ago. This year I’m up early and decided to get it started.

We’ve already got the steaks marinating. My family decided the Turkeys needed a pardon from us this year. That’s bad news for the cows.

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday with their families and friends.

My family gathered last Sunday because today several members had to work, more than usual. Not in retail though, but in hospitals. And you just can’t turn out the lights and go home at a hospital.

We had a wonderful time though, and I nearly went into a food coma. We most assuredly did not give the turkey a pardon!

Today my mother and I will have dinner with my sister and BIL. It will be turkey again, but not the elaborate meal of Sunday.

aceplace57, I’d love to try those steaks!

We’re trying Jack Daniel’s EZ Mesquite Marinader this year. A liquid marinade that comes in a bag. Add steaks and thats it. I’d seen them in grocery stores and thought it was worth trying.

Ribeye Steaks this year were pretty small. only .7 lb, and another was .6 lb. That size range was all Kroger had. I guess they had a meat shortage or something. Ribeyes are usually a full lb or even 1.1.

Happy Thanksgiving! I’m looking forward to having relatives over. Turkey smells great right about now! Fresh smoked Kielbasa from a butch shop does too (lol).

I don’t smoke cigarettes, but my two brothers in law do and I want them to keep coming on holidays. We don’t allow smoking in the house, but we have deck chairs out back for them.
This year I made for them some ash trays out of empty Budweiser cans (their favorite beer).

*Cut the top off of the empty can with a hack-saw about 3/4 of the way up.
*Cut (4) 1" slots in the sharp metal from 2 perpendicular center lines.
*Fold in/down the metal between the slots to cover the sharp edges.
*With tin snips, cut 1/2" diameter semi-circles at the 4 remaining sharp points (for resting the cigarette).
*Add sand to the bottom for weight.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too aceplace57.

Right now the house smells amazing and Lord Nuzzles (Lord High Admiral of the Floors and Master and Commander of HMS Kitchen-Underfeet) is on the verge of starting a mutiny and finding Himself deposed and marooned in a deserted bedroom.:smiley: He too thinks the food smells are amazing however his demands of tribute are a bit premature.

I’m watching philly’s thansgiving day parade, on tv, even though it is across the street. Heading to turkey central in a couple hours. The cat crew will enjoy fancy feast turkey until I bring home left overs for them.
