Harris VP choice as she is the official presidential nominee of the Democratic Party for 2024

Yeah, gotta give the talking heads their chance to yap. Because heaven knows we’ve never had storms or stock market fluctuations!

Just more room for the market to bounce back when the Fed eases interest rates. (Insiders make their money - largely - from volatility, whether up or down. As opposed to the majority of us who buy and hold…)

This is a fairly informative tweet from Julian Castro about what is involved in the VP vetting process, based on his experience in 2016:

Talked to a friend of mine in Arizona. She agreed and added that she didn’t think Kelly would have chosen to get into politics if not for carrying on Gabby’s work.

I wonder if he has the fire in his belly needed to step into a national campaign.

I wish the pick was Julian.

Ronny Chieng did a bit on this on The Daily Show. It was pretty funny.

And then there were two….

(Shapiro & Walz)

nvm…

ddd

So actually he would be my choice if this was a regular primary. But as Harris’ VP, nope. It needs to be an old white guy from Midwest.

According to this the choice as been made and the person has accepted

If that’s true, it’s probably going to leak out in the next few hours.

I don’t know why but I feel like it’s going to be Shapiro. sigh

The article also claims that Pete and Beshear and still in the mix and only Kelly and Pritizker are eliminated

Well, technically, only one is currently in the mix if it’s been offered and accepted.

Fair. I think they meant that it will be one of them.

Polymarket now has Shapiro at roughly 2/3 and Walz at roughly 1/3 with everyone else at 1% or lower

Yeah, I think Mark Kelly is out.

VP has accepted the job, just not sure who.

All of this is still rumour (or rather, unconfirmed leaks from multiple insider sources) but the leaks have been consistent so probably true.

As for who it is, (a) for many days now the betting markets have been going with Shapiro, and (b) I don’t want it to be Shapiro, so therefore (c) it’s Shapiro!

If it is, I sincerely hope I’m wrong about the negative impact this could have on the campaign. I’ve rarely wanted so much to be wrong!

I think it will be Walz, and I know why.

I prefer Shapiro, and I’m a pessimist.

No biggie, but I like a more disciplined process where we do not have so many leaks.

Shapiro’s Wikipedia page, citing a recent article from The Bulwark, now claims that Shapiro worked for Israel’s “Hasbara”, essentially as a propagandist:

After graduating from college, Shapiro moved to Washington, DC. There, Shapiro began working in the public affairs department (known as Hasbara) of the Israeli embassy in April 1996.[19] According to a Shapiro spokesperson, he worked there “to get foreign policy experience. His job largely involved educating the public about Israel.”[19]

Not a great look right now.

I wonder why Fox 2 Detroit is still the only source reporting this? I’d think other news outlets would be on this by now
