This… illuminating GQ thread piques my ire in a not insignificant manner.
For one
Hmmmm… Allow me to grapple with the cognitive dissonance I’m experiencing.
…
…
Nope, didn’t help. If it weren’t for my horse, I never would have spent that year in college.
i was wondering in my frustration whether reading comprehension skills, diction and critical thinking had ever been recorded on film.
Belief. Factual Question. Belief. Factual Question. If it weren’t for my horse…
Is it more than you could explain with eczema? The fact that your friend’s cousin’s brother’s aunt was eating mushrooms doesn’t automatically mean that you needed to call Ghostbusters. I mean really! Where’s your sense of hospitality? I seem to remember hearing “but really mom! I’ll take care of the new shooting star ghosts! I’ll feed them and everything! You won’t have to do anything!” If you can’t handle your responsiblities, you shouldn’t be bringing home these stray ghosts!
Now how about factual questions in GQ? If it weren’t for my horse, I never would have spent that year in college.
If only the system had a block-stupid-questions mode…
However, just to comment, we do get lots of questions on the nature of “Is there any scientific or physical evidence to support the existence of X”, where “X” has included about everything, such as ghosts, yetis, bigfoots, Loch Ness monsters, dinosaurs, colors, Noah’s Ark, Joan of Ark, Arkansas, and other arcania.
If you applied the same logic as you seem to me to be doing:
Asking for evidence of black holes is dumb.
Why?
Black Holes would explain some things that occur in space. But they are only theoretical. Might be other explanations that haven’t occured to us yet.
Ghosts/Spirtis would explain some things that we think occur on the planet(spooky noises, hauntings). But they are only theortetical. Sometimes there are explanations, but they may occur, as we don’t understand enough about them.
The only difference is that ghosts can be explained away most of the time. The truly unexplainable may be caused by things we don’t understand that are not in fact ghosts, or they may be. We just don’t understand enough, but we can make a educated guess that they don’t exist and or we don’t have good enough technology to find out for sure. The same applies to black holes if we switched it with ghosts and replaced don’t exist with ‘probably exists’.
Simply asking if there’s photos of ghosts ‘piques my ire in a not insignificant manner’ you must go through life in a constant state of ire.
As for the blister story it does top the chart in stupidity but not inherently offensive to deserve anyone’s anger. (And I think it’s slightly misleading that the blister story IS NOT THE OPs) Doesn’t a pitting require some level of totally over the top behavior or chronic behavior on the part of one person not just a stupid thread you disapprove of?
Well I may venture to help answer you instead of taking part in this argument. There are a few authors who have put books out on this the most prolific is Hans Holzer. Take it for what its worth but he has a crapload of pictures and witnesses. Hope that helps you.
Well Ilsa… Since you seem to be pseudo-pitting me, without mentioning my name, I will have to add that you’ve omitted the most important part of my response. The question was if anybody’s been able to capture ghosts on film. My (admittedly) long response was that I have what my two close friends are identifying as the ghosts they saw on the night the pictures were taken, on my film. Further happenings, which produced physical effects, also lead to the fact that they were indeed some kind of spirits.
Thank you for your dermatological concerns. No, I don’t have eczema, nor any other kind of skin condition. What happened, happened. I can’t explain it away with science, no matter how hard I try. I know I had burns on my stomach/waist area. If there was a way of explaining it away, I would have.
And THAT was my FACTUAL response to the question in GQ. If you don’t like it, tough. If you can’t believe that there are indeed some things that happen in this world that are beyond your comprehension, then I pity you. Perhaps Lib can come in here and invoke is Axiom S5s or whatever the fuck it’s called. I know what I saw on my body. My friends know what they saw on my film. You’ve surely decided you’ve learned enough in this lifetime. Good luck with it.
The fact? Bullshit. Lens flare doesn’t prove shit.
Burns hurt. Some rashes or skin conditions don’t. Did you see a doctor? Do you have a file in your chart saying “Burns, Second-Degree. Most likely caused by maniacal demons while victim was simultaneously sleeping and running for her life from said demons. Recommend Exorcism.”?
Does somebody need a nap? I call your pitting weak and ill focused and now it looks like a little tantrum.
And it seems to me that the author of the question was indeed asking a factual question. “Are there any photos of ghosts?” The answer is no. If the thread was hijacked later too bad let the mods move it. Which of course NEVER happens.
