I’m sorry about your dog, GaryM. My dog had a similar diagnosis and when she started losing weight I changed to Tucker raw frozen food and she liked that a lot. Oh and I’d grill some cheap meats on the BBQ grill and she liked that too. Inever tried CBD so I can’t help with that.
Thanks Bullitt, Sometimes he’ll eat a particular food or combination, then the next time, or day, he’ll just look at it and walk away. We’ve had him for 11 years pluss a little and are trying to keep him going. The Vet. Oncologist said that there’s nothing to lose by trying CBD, so I came to the Dope for anecdotal evidence and encouragement.
Cannabis is not legal in my state as I’d mentioned above. and I’m not cruising North St. Louis looking for a dealer.
The CBD is not likely to assist directly with stimulating his appetite, but it does control pain very well so if it’s stomach upset from the cancer and drugs to treat it that’s driving his lack of appetite the CBD can help. Plus, pain relief is a good end in itself. The strain I used for my cancerdog was Harlequin, which does run about 10% THC and about the same for the CBDs. That made it a good choice for my doggo but eventually the cancer just gets too far and they won’t eat anything unless it’s a total treat. As my euthanasia vet puts it, “The body won’t eat food it knows it won’t use.” I hope your doggo does well and isn’t in too much pain.
