Has Louise Fletcher Died?

I read an obituary of her posted on another board which stated she passed away of a heart attack on August 20th, aged 71. I can’t find it listed on “Entertainment Insiders” or here. Anyone know for sure?

Sir Rhosis

IMDb says it’s true.

I think IMdB is wrong on this one. I can’t find news of her death anywhere else. I’d imagine the death of an Oscar-winning actress from a popular Jack Nicholson movie would make the papers somewhere !

Her unofficial fan website suggests that she’s appearing at a convention in Atlanta this week.

You have to admire her work ethic.

On the “anti-dead” side, there was no Eve thread and Wikipedia doesn’t list her death.

Well, I hope she hasn’t died because I was gonna go to her house this October to watch the goddamned World Series.

There’s nothing on Startrek.com, either.

The conventon’s website says that due to professional commmitments she will NOT be appearing . Maybe death is considered a professional commitment?

Death is easy. Comedy is hard.

Dead or Alive?.com says she is alive. I love the Internet.

The last, and greatest, audition?

I’m sorry. That last link should have gone HERE.

Googling was negative, which for her is a positive. “Louise Fletcher” + dead, Louise Fletcher + death, and “Louise Fletcher” + obituary don’t turn up anything related to her actual death, so I vote that she’s still kicking.

Checked the New York Times Web site: no obit
Checked the Las Vegas newspaper: no obit
Checked the AP wire (including the one at the newspaper): no obit
Checked the LA Times: no obit

This is indeed good news. I am going to the site that listed the obit and question the poster as to where he got this false info.

Thanks.

Sir Rhosis

You know what they say - the show must go on.

In fact, the IMDB biography was exactly what the poster on the other board posted.

Sir Rhosis

She’s not dead. She’s just re-decorating. In France!

The poster of the obit at the other board replies that he was perusing IMDB’s listing of celebrities who had died in '05 and found her listed. So, I think it was just false info submitted to IMDB (wonder how long it will take them to correct it, and wonder why they didn’t double-check for a celebrity of her stature?).

Sorry to have started this, just wanted to know.

Sir Rhosis

I love Louise Fletcher. She’s an incredible actress. But outside of Star Trek fandom and this board, you’ll find about one in a hundred people who will recognize her name. Her FACE, yes…but it’s the kind of thing where people go “That’s…HER…whatsername! She was in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Big Eden and Flowers in the Attic! What’s her NAME?!”

I don’t even think that she is that old. I would guess maybe mid-sixties.

71 seems to be right.
