(I’m labeling this as “spoiler safe” because Lara’s appearance in last night’s episode was announced in the TV Listings, and Zor-El already appeared in previous episodes, and I’m not giving away ANYthing else about the episode.)
Don’t get me wrong. I still like the show. I particularly like how they’ve been avoiding the “freak of the week” stories lately. But I think they’ve brought in way too many Kryptonian family members all at once.
In the comics, Krypton was dead, and there was no communication at all between Superman and Krypton, except in time-travel stories (and the exceptional surviving Kryptonians like from the Phantom Zone or Kandor). The movies and Smallville went a little further, allowing computer recreations of his parents to talk to him in the Fortress.
But last night’s episode really got to me. It’s not just Kara anymore, it’s also her father and his mother. It’s just too much all at once, in my view. It reminds me of the 60s, when we had a whole zoo, of a super-cat and super-horse and super-monkey and whatnot.
Anyone else?
