Has this many people ever wished for one person to die?

Not if he has residua. Suppose he ends up on oxygen for the rest of his life? Or unable to walk long distances, and needs to use one of those carts? and suppose he has to take medication a couple of times a day forever? insurance issues won’t hit him in the gut, but just having to manage meds, deal with refill issues, etc., would be, umm, “nice” isn’t quite the word I’m looking for, and “justice” doesn’t work either, but it would serve him well.

Probably also means that when he does die, it’ll be lingering, and full of indignity, like diapers and feeding tubes. He won’t succumb to a heart attack in his sleep after a normally active day.

And yeah, that is the reality of surviving COVID-19 for some people. It’s also the reality of surviving pneumonia, and other lung diseases. I used to work in community living for disabled people; I’ve seen it.

I think having to appear in public with his oxygen cannula, on his pony cart, for the rest of his life, would be long-term suffering for him-- in addition to losing. Or winning, and then getting 25th’d. The latter might even be worse for him, because there’d be legal documentation calling him incompetent. Between “unpopular” and “incompetent,” I’ll bet he’d hate “incompetent” more.

I think those honestly wishing death on a person are showing their true colours.
I hope they are just hyperbole in the safety of an internet forum but I also suspect a fair portion are not. Even if they come from my side of the poltical spectrum they are not representatives, they are just dreadful human beings.

That I detest Trump and all he stands for is on record, That he is a royal fuck-up and unsuited for office was also clear from the get-go. Yet still I manage to behave like a civilsed human being and refrain from wishing a quasi-summary-execution on him. Somehow I can’t find such revenge fantasies in me.

I rather pride myself on the fact that I’d behave in the opposite way than he would. I’m sure he would delight in the deaths of him political enemies. That I don’t is just one of the many ways that I remain better than him and I’d prefer not to take even one small step in his dingy, shit-stained direction.

So I hope he and and his family recover. There is no afterlife and sod karma, only by living does he stand a chance of having to face the consequences of his dreadful behaviour.

An eye for an eye and a fart for a turd, you should know this kind of justice.
That said, I do not really wish him to die, not soon (but of course, if it is Goddot’s will, there is nothing you can do). Still I’d much prefer to see him, his family and his aQolites and enablers in jail after due process. But do not worry: I do not think you have the relevance or influence to be in that group.

Thoughts, hopes, wishes, and prayers - the epitome of facilitating and doing nothing. None of them make anything happen. They don’t make peole rich, famous, healthy, or dead, so climb down off your high horses and face reality for a minute.

500,000,000 people are thinking, hoping, wishing, and praying for Trump, the impeached imbecile to die. None are doing anything to make that happen. Whatever happens, he has brought upon himself and he has inflicted onto others. His actions, and even his intentional inaction, has inflicted this onto well over seven-hundred-million Americans alone.

Yet some still don’t “think” death for the idiot is warranted. The question for them is, “Why are some people so enamored with stupidity and evil that they still want him walking the face of the Earth?” It says far more about the ignorant purveyors of evil than it does the vast majority of good people. You have to ask yourself why you want him to live on to continue his curse on our country?

A good leader never asks of those s/he leads to do that which s/he is not willing to do themselves.

I don’t think most of the world had an OBL obsession like the rest of America does. I’m glad he got a fitting end, but after the first couple of years of him in hiding, I never gave him another thought.

By contrast, Trump is an active threat to every nonwhite, non-American person on the globe, and a good chunk of everyone else. In the US alone, every 3 days we have a September 11th amount of casualties. He needs to stop being President as soon as reasonably possible.

I do not wish death on him, not out of an overweening performance of charity signaling, but frankly because we need to do this election by the book. We need every legitimate candidate and voter we can possibly get.

So this is my hope and prayer: that from now until the end of his days, he stays bedridden, fighting for every shallow breath like my grandfather when he died, watching the people and assets of his corruption machine drop like flies around him, long enough to see Biden decisively win election. Long enough to see his enabling toadies defeated by election or dropped in their tracks by COVID.

Once he has witnessed his thorough, comprehensive defeat, only then is he allowed to die. But I’d be just as entertained watching him give depositions in an oxygen tent. You know, “reviewing some documents”.

If anyone told you to expect love and tolerance toward an absolute monster, I’m afraid someone has taken advantage of your obviously feeble intellect.

Don’t answer the door for any aluminum-siding salesmen, OK? They know how to spot people like you.

I pray he has a change of heart as Scrooge did, the method doesn’t really matter, if it’s a near death experience or accepting a bowl of rice from a child. Someone who has done as much evil, caused as much division and pain, and fanned as much hate as Trump has could be powerful in healing that. What I pray does not happen is Trump is healed and continues on his current path of destruction.

"Has this many people ever wished for one person to die?

I will assume you’re referring to people in the United States and their hatred for any individual. The only person this many Americans have hated that much may have been Hitler. If one assume the ridiculous, that every person in the country wanted him dead, that would be 135 million death-wishes in 1942.

Today we are close to 350 million Americans and if only half want Trump** dead, that would be 175 million death-wishes, far exceeding Hitler. This makes Trump** the most hated, probably ever, by far.

Excluded middle. You can decry stupidty and evil and still be against wishing death on someone.

One can be against anything or for anything you desire, for any reason without qualification. My point was the person who does not want this person removed from the living population should be able to articulate to themselves the reason they feel that way.

There are people who are against the death penalty and others who are all for it. Each have their own reasons. Are you able to articulate a cogent reason for your choice?

Hey man, we’re not the ones who encouraged him to ignore COVID protocols and get sick. We asked him to take precautions, and were told to fuck off by the people who are now so troubled by our lack of compassion.

Wishing Trump were dead is more practical and direct than wishing all his enablers were dead.

Not that I, personally, wish he were dead. If I get a free wish, it would be simply that he do no further harm.

As somebody who loves America, I don’t want Trump to die now. I want him to live so he can be resoundingly voted out of office and everyone can see that the American people rejected him. Only then can we start recovering from the shame of having elected him in the first place.

That’s a curious way of phrasing it. Almost like the elimination of a person is the default and a reason is required for them continuing to live. I think the opposite is true, one should assume that continued life is the default and the case for them dying is the one that needs the (very strong) case made for it.

Is that a rhetorical question? In which case I agree. If you are asking if I have a cogent reason for not wishing death on Trump, then yes, I think I gave it.

I don’t wish him to die. Nor do I wish for a speedy recovery. My reaction is more of a “I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?”

Don’t you worry, there’s some 8 billion other folks more deserving of love. Trump can get in line and wait behind all the other mass murderers, rapists, and genocidal losers terrible at golf. If he dies before that happens, oh well, I guess he should’ve tried a bit harder at not being a traitor? Can’t win it all, I guess.

You know what, though, I’ll be sure to pay my respects after his passing. Visit the grave, have a moment of silence, clench my ass and shit all over his body. Maybe grow some flowers. It’ll be the most beautiful thing he’s ever done! See, liberals* and conservatives working together to make the world a better place!

* As if “someone who wishes Trump dead” = “liberal”, lol

It’s a 200,000 strong case by this point. It’s a pretty straightforward evaluation: would the world be drastically better off without this person? Yes? Then good riddance.

I don’t want him to die because I don’t think that would be the best possible outcome for the longterm safety of Americans. The best possible outcome is for him to get better, but to suffer lingering symptoms long enough to completely discredit his narrative that the virus his harmless. I want him wheezing through speeches, visibly short of breath and trying hard not to cough. I want all of his supporters who have bought into his bullshit to see how weak and sickly he’s become and to maybe, maybe, maybe change their worldviews just the slightest bit as a result. Just enough to start wearing masks and protecting the people around them.

I also want a private island and a pony.
