Has this many people ever wished for one person to die?

I don’t want to see Trump - or anyone- die just for the sake of seeing them die. But if some good can come of it, it’s a sacrifice he should make.

For example, my grocery store sell these little bags of preheated chicken nuggets, ready to eat. The batter dipped ones are better than the breadcrumbed ones but they don’t always have them.

If, for some reason, Trump choking to death on his own phlegm would set into motion a chain of events that would allow me to score a bag of batter-dipped nuggets instead of the breadcrumb coated ones - then Trump should die. And I will know that some good came from his death and he didn’t die in vain.

But I’m not sadistic, I’m just…what’s that word Republicans use when they think like this…oh, transactional. Because I don’t want anything bad to happen to anyone else unless there’s something in it for me. And I’m really craving batter-fried nuggets. If some people I don’t even know have to be really sad so I can get the lunch I want, so what? I got mine.

Until now I din’t know that batter-dipped nuggets is a dish best served cold.

Hah! :joy:

I would never want somebody to die just so I can have some batter-dipped chicken nuggets.

If I’m going to wish somebody dead, I’m going to at least want to get a drink and a side order of fries out of it.

Here’s an article about how all the ‘Own the libs’ types who were happy to mock Hillary when she got pneumonia are now whining that people are being mean to Trump: Trumpworld delighted in cruelty. Now that Trump has COVID, it demands empathy.

Also, I neglected to mention before that I agree with other posters in that I don’t wish that he dies from it, because a quick death is too good for someone like him. I want him to be alive but badly weakened, then have to wheel his oxygen tanks around as he loses the election and is prosecuted for his crimes, then dies a lingering death in prison, with just regular prison healthcare because his fortune of lies falls apart and he can’t afford anything better. I’m sure the whiners will complain that’s mean, but that’s the fate he (and they) think is appropriate for people who haven’t done anything wrong, and that he and his supporters have wished on me and others like me.

I don’t want Trump to die. I want him to suffer just enough to understand what he’s been putting hundreds of thousands of Americans through, recover, get stomped in the election, and then spend the rest of his life in prison.

That is certainly straighforward to the point of simplicity, yes. KIll those you see as unhelpful or actively harmful.

H.L.Mencken famously said “for every complex question there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong”.

Do I want the authoritarian white nationalist, who just this week issued orders on national tv to his thug militia to stand by, to die? Do I want the man who has used his office to enrich himself, caused the deaths of tens of thousands of Americans and colluded with foreign governments to undermine our democracy to die? Man, that’s a head scratcher.

The idea that liberals have to tolerate everyone and every philosophy just because they’re liberals is bunk, and I notice it is often pulled out when the ultra-conservative assholes are suddenly on the receiving end instead of the giving end of the shit and want to hide behind a charge of hypocrisy. You want tolerance? Start showing some your own damn selves.

Liberals are not required to tolerate the intolerable, and that includes people and philosophies whose principles include causing harm to others in the pursuit of power, profit, or shits & giggles. That includes Trump and his toadies, and that includes you, @Tim_R.Mortiss. Tolerating the intolerant is how Germany got Nazis, and I don’t want to see that happen in the USA.

Trump and his toadies are getting exactly what they deserve, and what they’re getting is the direct result of their refusal to listen to the experts, their derision of commonsense actions, and their turning simple actions such as wearing a mask into a political/cultural football. Fuck him. Fuck them.

I want the bastard to live just long enough to see the “YOU’RE FIRED!” headlines on November 4th. Then, I don’t give a rat’s ass what happens to him.

When your loved ones have died from his actions these last 8 months, come back and post again.

In a way, this thread reminds me of what Vir said to Morden on Babylon 5:
Morden-“What do you want?”
Vir Cotto-“I’d like to live just long enough to be there when they cut off your head and stick it on a pike as a warning to the next ten generations that some favors come with too high a price. I would look up at your lifeless eyes and wave like this. [gives a mockingly cheerful finger waggle] Can you and your associates arrange this for me, Mr. Morden?”

Now, this isn’t what I want to happen to Trump, of course.

What an arseholish comment. What makes you think I don’t know what it is like to lose a loved one through the incompetency of another?

Because I have, and not just one, and no, I didn’t wish death on them at any point.

Fuck taking the high road. Trump exploited the high road for weakness for his entire career. Can you think of anything loving and tolerant Trump said of anybody? “I like guys who don’t get captured,” he said of war hero McCain, for example. All the childish insults he tweeted? All the “suckers” and “losers” who served our country? Was he being loving and tolerant when he mocked a disabled reporter? “Uhhhh… I don’t remember…” Is that what you’re saying right now while tucking your hands and shaking?

It’s amazing that you think you have grounds to criticize. But then again, there’s around 60 million of you that are somehow permitted to continue breathing. At least you’re not wearing protection while breathing, so you’re doing the US election process a favor by culling yourselves out.

He is not a liberal, he is a troll.

But I don’t hold it against someone who has lost loved ones to someone else’s actions who does feel that way.

If wishes were horses beggars would ride. I don’t see beggars riding horses and I don’t find much offense from what people are wishing.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask people to be more decent, more compassionate, more humane, and more “Christian” toward this irredeemable piece of shit than he, himself, has always been toward almost everybody.

But I do think it’s unreasonable to expect it.

The desire for revenge may be understandable, it doesn’t make it any less ugly and pernicious.

If a Proud Boy, trying to shoot a liberal, accidentally shot Trump, and the ambulance ride to the hospital was impeded by an anti-mask rally, I would not feel bad.
