Make up your mind, sport.
I would have much less of an objection to Christianity if Christians would start, you know, following Jesus instead of substituting their own hate-filled agendas and blaiming it onw Jesus. Jesus preached love and compassion to the weak, the lost, the disenfranchised; he talked about giving to the poor, caring for the sick, and loving God and each other. Why is it that so few so-called Christians have bothered to read and obey Mark 12:28-31?
[quote]
One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
“The most important one,” Jesus answered, “is this: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”
Jesus said nothing about attacking gay people or pushing creationism in schools; he said not one word about voting Republican or supporting the death penalty.
I hate to break the Christians’ bubble, but most of you are not followers of Christ in any way. You are scary, hateful people who are intolerant, unloving, and dishonest.
And stop saying that the GOP is the Christian party because that’s blasphemy against your own God.
Jesus doesn’t hate gay people.
Jesus doesn’t support the death penalty.
Jesus doesn’t believe in supporting the rich against the poor.
Jesus doesn’t believe in killing Iraqi children.
Jesus doesn’t believe in racial or relgious intolerance.
It’s called a typo. And that’s Ms. sport to you .

Matthew 8:10
Echoing Poly’s post because it merits an echo. I’m just an observer, and include myself among those undeserving to be called “follower of Christ”. But I do believe that God gives to every man the desire of his heart, and Christ is my desire.

Poly, is there any way to let him know about the SDMB? You said he’s from Pittsburgh-we’d be honored to have another Pitt Doper among us!
Just to let you know – I’d originally requested (earlier in the year) that he contact me by Private Message – leaving the ball in his court. After receiving e-mail from Siege about him, I took the initiative of e-mailing him. He has a week off from work and will be away until January 7, and isn’t sure whether he’ll be viewing his e-mail in the interim. But contact has been made – he has Siege’s and my e-mail addresses, and a forwarded expresson of concern from Sol. If and when he responds, I intend to invite him here. And he has an open invitation to Siege’s church, as well.
Hang it, brother, you weren’t supposed to tell them that! I’ve got a reputation for being too damn pious as it is!
Happy New Year,
CJ
