It’s good, but it’s no “Cheers” !
It is the neoironic usage for “Hey, look at me, I am the manly man, so manly that I have successfully suppressed my deep-seated desire to have sex with men, and I am so proud of that.”
I could believe a twenty-something has an opinion, but it’d almost certainly be an uninformed one, i.e. he views the past as some lost golden age and it’s easy for him to do so since he wasn’t actually there.
But more likely he’s just a Troll playing the reactionary card, trying to rile liberals, etc.
:smack:
Hey CJ! What we’re all saying is, you’re too stupid to realize how dumb you really are. My cite is every post you’ve made thus far.
So you prefer them back when they were your mother’s age?
Interesting.
Not quite true.
He keeps making it for the sake of strawman-ing the hell out of it.
So it has been made–just not seriously or by anyone other than him.
Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But the on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development: When I was ten I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.

Bronies?
I’m afraid you actually didn’t say nuff.
mmm
so, you are calling him faggoty as a way to denigrate him, embarrass him, or what? I don’t get the neoironic usage.
And another thing, what’s with grown men going to see this The Lion, The Witch & the Wardrobe movie?!
The discussion is about the level of depth in the show compared to ‘adult’ shows intended for deeper intellectual or critical analysis.
Not a discussion on whether or not “people should only watch adult shows”.
Just like how the song “Happy Birthday” is just a fun song for younger audiences, not a deep piece of composition intended to be viewed as worth of deep analysis as Beethoven’s symphonies.
It’s not that hard to get, really.
Apparently Boing-a-Boing is now a credible source.
Oh, and CS Lewis didn’t claim that Alice and Wonderland was a deep existential treaties like the Brothers Karazmov; he admitted it was just a fun book for younger audiences to enjoy.
For what it’s worth this was also the case with the Beatles’ song “I am the Walrus” - they admitted it was just a nonsense song written for children.
So again, please show me sources by notable critics claiming that MLP is a show worthy of deep intellectual analysis and commentary like Breaking Bad. I’m still waiting…
Though honestly, wouldn’t surprise me if a good percentage of the self-identified “Bronies” on 4chan are also the ones arguing that CS Lewis “loved children” a little bit too much either…
To be fair the Rock used the term “jabroni” a jobber… a loser whose sole job is to make others look good… the OP would be an example of this.
otherwise… spot on.
Signed,
Father of a son who was a huge wrestling fan in the nineties and aughts… and, coincidentally at some point, a Brony who seem to get regular tail (heh) from the Pegasis’ (yes they really used this term) in his crowd. Horny bunch of Cloppers they were.
You’re not just a troll but an arse. So why don’t you head off to ARRSE - it’s a military forum - and post your thoughts there and see how quickly they apply a boot to your arse?
…and why don’t you realize that ‘Rarity’ is not really your girlfriend, and even if she existed in real life would probably find you a tad creepy, and at best would confine you to the friendzone, while she dates that douchebag Bugs Bunny.
Sorry I just really can’t stop chucking at the irony of someone calling others a “loser” after trying to argue that critics are calling MLP the next Breaking Bad, something which of course still lacks a citation, lol
Do you have an anime girlfriend too. Mr. “Cool”, or is it just losers like me who don’t find the thought of making love to imaginary underage ponies all that appetizing?
While we’re on the subject, Michael Bay also admitted he intentionally makes “bad movies”, he just makes movies he thinks would be fun and action packed for teenage boys to enjoy.
I bet if you search around on 4chan enough though you’ll find someone somewhere trying to argue that “Transformers 2” is secretly some deep intellectual treatise and should have won an Oscar though. And that the scene with two dogs humping was actually meant to convey some deep intellectual message about the meaning of life…
- Prefers women his mother’s age
- Claims to know a bit about NAMBLA
- Has some knowledge about My Little Pony
Very interesting.
Well if you wanna kinda smash bits and pieces of different posts together… sure. I don’t believe I made that argument.
I think you are a loser because you are clearly … and very clearly at that… trolling. You seem to be parodying South Park’s PC Principal, which is in itself a parody and… like their celebrity impersonation disclaimer points out… you are doing it very very poorly.
I have no opinion on the Breaking Bad v MLP comparison. I didn’t watch either. I do, however, know that, despite the reputations of Bronies that you have presented here, my son, as a Brony and young adult, was not lacking for peer female companionship during that time.
Are you perhaps mixing up CS Lewis and Lewis Carroll?
If stating a pretty common sense fact that MLP is intended just to be a fun show for younger audiences, not some profound intellectual analysis of the human psyche like Breaking Bad or whatever ends up ‘trolling’ some people, then maybe they should seek professional counseling.
Anyone who has to hide from the real world on some safe space on the internet out of fear of being ‘triggered’ at the notion that people might not like the same cartoons as them will never make it in real life.
Cool story bro… I just hope by female companionship you don’t mean “anime pillows”
Plus there’s a difference between “liking My Little Pony” and “being a Brony” anyway…
