Oh, I’m so glad for you. Buying good headphones was a very considerate thing to do. Anyone whose music can be heard by others is intruding on their solitude, on their ability to feel some peace, and just think. (Yes, I try to think in public. Silly me. And I love music so much, I can’t NOT listen to it)
And you don’t deserve to have people judging your music.
In the new Reacher series (Amazon), the white guy loves delta blues, but the black detective keeps changing the car radio to Boston or Kansas, which his partner Reacher hates. Kind of a running gag.

I always found my musical tastes to be so personal, I don’t listen to music in public. Period. It’s deeply embarrassing to have others start noticing or asking questions, or making assumptions, etc. As you’ve found out. So yeah, your getting those better headphones was a great idea.
