Have You Ever...?

Yes. I volunteer in the school libraries. I go and talk to the kids about a new public library in the area. Sometimes we do crafts or I read to the younger grades.
Speaking of libraries, HYE looked into the genealogy room at your local library?

Wut??

Beck, I don’t know if Chan looked at the rules of the game.

Chan, this game is easy. You answer the “Have You Ever” question posed by the last poster (preferably in the affirmative, though “no but close enough” answers are allowed), along with a bit of explanation. Let’s continue:

No, but a cousin of mine is fascinated by genealogy. Thanks to him, and his reports to us on his findings, we can trace our roots back a few hundred years.

Have you ever waited until the 26th (or later) to open a Christmas gift?

No, I have enough trouble waiting for the 25th. Waiting another day would be problematic.

HYE hosted a New Year’s Eve party?

Moderator Note

For those who are confused about these:

HYE spammed the SDMB? Chan: Yes.
HYE posted nonsense to a thread to try to evade spam filters? Chan: Yes.
HYE had your posts wished away to the cornfield? Chan: Yes.

Carry on.

No, but we had some nice New Year’s Eve parties at my grandparents’ house. At the stroke of midnight, we not only said “Happy New Year”, but “Happy birthday, Uncle Cliff!” (We used to joke that he believed the fireworks were for him.)

Have you ever read a Star Trek novel?

Oh, yes, many. My favorites are probably *Dark Mirror *by Diane Duane and Imzadi by Peter David.

HYE written fanfic?

Yes, oddly enough, I wrote a Star Trek: TNG short story when I was probably 11 or 12 years old. I still have it. It’s a bit amusing to read it now, but I would be way too embarassed to show it to anyone not related to me. My younger brother got ahold of it at some point and wrote his own “commentary” in the margins.

HYE done cosplay?

Yes, sort of. I was at a gaming convention @ Southern Illinois University Carbondale (GO SALUKIS!). My traveling companions just needed a warm body to fill a Red Clearance Troubleshooter costume and I ended up in it for about half a day.

HYE played the RPG Paranoia?

Thank you.

Nope. Had to google it to even know what it was.

Have you ever flown somewhere and back on the same day?

No, fortunately. Air travel is 'way too unpredictable for me ever to try that.

HYE been on the Concorde?

No.

HYE been in a DeLorean?

Yes, back in the very early eighties cruising with a bud down Hollywood Blvd…which reminds me:
HYE been to the original Frederick’s Of Hollywood?

Yes. I was visiting LA with a girl, and she wanted to go to Frederick’s. So we did. That’s all I’ll say about that.

Have you ever driven your car to a place three or fewer blocks away?

Yes. Used to pick my MIL up and take her next door to her daughters house. She wasn’t able maneuver her scooter over the gravel road they lived on. I always thought it was stupid, but I did as asked.

HYE been wheelchair bound for a length of time?

Well, I was immobilized, but didn’t have a wheelchair. A few years ago, when I awoke with sudden spinal stenosis, I was unable to be on my feet more than a couple of minutes at a time. Now I have two walkers and I’m up to 5 minutes. Big difference.

HYE been on an Alaskan cruise?

Yes. I took my son on a cruise up the inside passage. It was a blast.

HYE been on a Caribbean cruise?

I’ve never been on any kind of cruise.

Have you refused to watch any of The Pirate’s of the Caribbean movies on general principal?

No, I’ve watched. Not really my thing. I feel you have an opinion to share.

HYE compromised your principles in favor of just keeping the peace?
