Have You Ever...?

Yes, a friend who is a tequila fan insisted that I try Dulce Vida Anejo Tequila. It is very pricey, has won lots of awards, yadda yadda yadda. It didn’t convert me - I still don’t like tequila.

HYE shelled a large quantity of nuts(say a couple pounds or more), that you collected yourself, at one sitting?

No. I’ve only ever shelled a few nuts at once, and not that I collected.

Have you ever gone to a “pick it yourself” farm or orchard for any kind of fruit?

Yes, I’ve been to local apple orchards. And when I was a kid, we’d often pick bushels of blackberries in the fields near our house.

Have you ever canned your own jellies or preserves?

Yes…well, I “helped” my mother make jams and preserves when I was a kid. My help usually consisted of one part peeling or pitting for every four parts of tasting. As an adult, however, I’ve pickled cucumbers and beans from my back garden on a number of occasions.

HYE owned a record player with a 16 rpm setting? And more importantly have you ever played or listened to an actual 16 rpm record?

Well, my Dad had one and I inherited it. He did have some 16 rpm’s, and played them once in a blue moon. I don’t know whatever happened to them.
Have You Ever wolf-whistled at girls?

Yes, but it wasn’t like you might think. It was on stage, as a part of a community theatre production.

Have you ever owned, or looked after for a period of time, a black cat?

Why yes I have. Just finished fostering one. He was quite the character. I hated to give him up. His new Mom will do great with him. And I can go visit. Solid black with green eyes and a kink in his tail.

Have you ever driven a tractor?

Yes, many times although never for actual ‘field’ work of planting or cultivating. I’ve used them as snowplows, brush hogs and backhoes and in one case used one to run a powered post hole digger.

have you ever went to get ‘just one’ slice of pie or cake and ended up finishing the whole thing?

Yes, many times. Pizza too. This was back in the old days, when I thought I could eat whatever I wanted.

HYE gotten injured falling on ice?

Yes, last year, while walking. My tailbone ached for a few days.

HYE helped a kid build a snowman?

Does helping my kid sister count? We were both kids (I was maybe 11, and she was 8), and there was a big snowfall, and she wanted to build a snowman. “Will you help, Spoons?” Of course, I did. I liked to play in the snow too. In the end, we built a great snowman.

Have you ever skated on an outdoor ice rink?

Yes, and my ankles always ache a little afterwards.

HYE done any downhill skiing?

Yes, I’ve been skiing 4 days this winter (2 of them record cold days too) and in fact I’m planning a ski afternoon on Saturday.
Re Spoons’ question on skating, it brought back good memories as I learned to skate with friends at Wollman Rink in NYC’s Central Park. I don’t want to go back there since now Trump’s name is displayed prominently >:-{

Have you used a thermos for hot drinks or soup?

On an almost daily basis. I have a 32 oz thermos of coffee within arm’s reach right now and I’ll drain and refill it before lunch. I almost never use it for anything other than unsweetened black coffee and I have a separate small one that I will rarely use for soups or broth. You didn’t ask about foods but one of my favorite breakfasts is to cook oatmeal in a wide mouthed food thermos. Put in the fixins, top off with boiling water, seal and shake, come back in half an hour for a piping hot, no muss, no fuss way to start the day.

HYE added rum, bourbon or other alcohols to your hot chocolate?

No, I don’t think I ever have, although I like my eggnog with a generous shot o’ rum.

HYE gone shopping and then realized you forgot your wallet or purse?

Never. I always check for my wallet, keys and cell phone before leaving the house.

HYE tried to give up coffee, but couldn’t?

Yes. (sigh)
HYE had to take your pet the Vet because of something you did to it?
(I stepped on my Yorkies back foot and broke a toenail off at the quick. It wouldn’t stop bleeding. She had to get a stitch. I feel soooo bad)

I didn’t, but my mom did, when she accidentally drove over the tail of our beagle mix dog, Casey. He bled a lot, too, and the vet had to amputate the end of the tail, but he otherwise had a long, happy life after that. Good dog.

HYE met a pet named Casey?

I know a guy who drives a truck, and he has a cat named Jones and a large nasty parrot named Casey.
HYE hitchhiked over 200 miles?

No. In fact the longest ride I ever got, the one and only time I hitchhiked, was about two miles.

HYE run farther than 10 miles (16 kilometers)?
