I like d’onofrio’s Kingpin, but I hope he’s just the generic big boss in this show. There is a tonal difference between the Netflix shows and the MCU/Disney shows. Hawkeye’s power set seems ideal for “Street Marvel” but he’s firmly established in the Avengers league and should stay there. If Kingpin does play an important role in this series I hope it’s because he’s really a Skrull.
Agreed-this just isn’t as “gritty” as DD was at all. Hopefully it’s a cameo? I can see him fading back and cutting his losses if they confront Kate’s mom. He’ll likely be the Big Bad of Echo anyway (and hopefully that will have a more fitting tone).
Ugh…I just had a thought. Kate and Clint are captured, things are looking dire…and Laura Barton kicks the door down and wipes the floor with everyone. Ugh…please no. And no Skrull reveals either. Its too late for that.
I WILL take Swordsman assisting in a rescue. Having it turn out he was a deep-state SHIELD agent or even more interesting…just a dude who was looking for a sugar-mama, but the jig is up.
I am pretty sure the title is just referring to the fact that it features Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel but you never know.
No, but I could see Yelena and Echo doing the rescuing. That would be cool.
Actually, a question has occurred to me: we really haven’t seen her “echo” anything, so calling her series that is kinda odd apart from the character name.
I was gonna say, not since we kinda saw her do it to that first kid she faced…I mean I thought she was going to at least recognize Ronin and Clint were the same by their fighting styles.
Maybe she’ll pick up a bow by the end.
Also, I’m wondering what do people know about the blip and when did they find out? Obviously, people know that Natasha, Tony, and Steve* are dead. But who knows what details? Also, Natasha died right before Hulk snapped everyone back - there’s no way that news of her demise could have made it out of the Avengers compound for someone to hear about it when they reappeared. It must have taken at least days to get the news to Yelena.
*what did they tell people about Captain America, exactly?
When Kate and Yelena were talking, Yelena told Kate that Clint killed her sister. That got me thinking, yeah, there was likely some kind of debrief, but Clint wouldn’t want Nat’s memory tarnished. He wouldn’t reveal the exact details of what happened, that Nat essentially killed herself, to stand as her final legacy, even if it was a sacrifice to (get a chance to) save the universe. Then what would he have said? That they flipped a coin? Maybe he would tell how she selflessly sacrificed herself, despite his best efforts. The truth. But I bet the full details never went beyond classified reports. So Yelena knew that two Avengers went, one came back, so it must be Clint’s fault that her sister died.
Plus, whatever version the Countess told her.
That’s just it - I thought from the stinger in FaWS that it was Countess that told Yelena it was Clint and sent Yelena after him. Of course, that doesn’t mean that Kate/Kingpin didn’t also hire her.
As far as how Natasha died - all Yelena (or anyone) truly knows is that 2 went and 1 came back - her anger/loss is going to ignore any other stories until the plot needs it.
That’s what I assume. Few of us hear the real details of any e.g. military operation, and I’m sure assumptions are made, or details are fudged for those, on the reg.
My feeling was, for an actual himbo, he was far to casual and collected while being arrested. He’s up to something, though it may not be what Kate thinks it is.
Probably something along the lines of “He was injured in the final battle and retired (to the moon)”.
This discussion does bring up a good point. The average person never even heard of or saw Thanos. What did they tell people, anyway? No doubt conspiracy theories sprouted like wildfire.
We know why Yelena thinks Clint killed Nat. Julia Louis Dreyfus told her he did in the post credit scene of Black Widow
Yeah, it’s kind of like Echo. Yelena is looking for someone to blame and Clint makes a good target. But once Clint uses his pep-talk powers, she will see the truth of things and refocus her anger and vengeance on someone more deserving.
It could be that the countess put a bug in her ear that Clint killed Natasha, but couldn’t give her more details about where to find him, until Kate’s mom reached out and was like, “I hear you want to kill Clint Barton…”
I’m pretty sure the public story is that Cap is dead, but since he disappeared some time after the big battle, there’s a lot of conspiracies about him.
