Congrats to the winners, and to whoever finished 12th. And thanks to @Wilson for running the league again.
Congrats Beef! And thanks @Wilson for setting us up and keeping things going!
I was kicking myself for not starting Robinson (NYG) over Harrison Jr. but Bijan Robinson went nuts and it ended up working out much better than anticipated.
This is a good time to bring this topic up. I’m good either way but I understand the concern.
I run a league with friends from HS and college and we had a fairly spirited discussion about how to handle the 17th game when it was first added by the NFL. At first we didn’t make any changes but the folks who actually had an opinion REALLY seemed to care about our season not matching up with the NFL season. The next year we decided to set things up so the final game of the playoffs is week 18, and it was a little weird with how teams handle the final week of the regular season but nothing terrible.
This year I’ve already had several people (from the same group of opinionated folks) reach out about ending our season earlier than the NFL season to avoid sit-start issues. We vote on our rules in the summer, so I’ll see if people remember by the time the 2026 season is ready to get going.
So we have 14 players, which means there are 13 other teams besides ourselves. 13 week regular season = play every other team once, 3 week playoffs = championship in week 16. Seems elegant. Works for me.
The math is really clean. I like it.
I’m not against this idea, but there is an alternative that I’ll put out there - leave the regular season at 14 games, but cut the playoffs to 8 teams (4 in the championship bracket, 4 in the consolation bracket).
That’s how it was in the first 12ish years in the league and we voted to change it since it seemed like 4/14 seemed like too few. I personally would rather keep the 6 man playoffs and shave off a regular season game but I’m also okay with keeping it as is. I like the two first round byes as a reward element for having a great regular season
