He Hate Me FF Keeper League – Year 11

At least your not going to lose to a team that is missing a RB, but carried by Seattle’s Def.

I watched the end of that game last night in utter fear. Stop throwing the damn ball, Drew - you’re up 21 points with 8 minutes left! Good lord that was stressful. A 39.5 point lead doesn’t feel all that secure when you’re up against Drew Brees on MNF.

Yeah it felt like they came out there trying to make a statement.

I need to make a trade. Who wants CJ2K?

Wow! Great work buddy. I like your informative post. well done.

Big trade to announce

Jules gives up
Lamar Miller (RD 2)
Demaryius Thomas (RD 3, kept 1(?) year)
Jordan Cameron (RD 10)

I give up
Roddy White (RD 2)
Ben Tate (RD 6)
Alfred Morris (RD 10, kept 1 year)

Jules really wanted to get his hands on Morris and proposed about 9 deals to make it happen. I figure Morris will probably still be the most valuable keeper in the league next year in the 8th round and I wanted a lot for him.

I have a gaping hole at TE this year, and Cameron fills it. Roddy White will probably have a productive second half of the season, but it’s a risk. Thomas gives me an immediate top WR to pair with Johnson. Morris to Miller may not even be all that huge a downgrade if Washington can’t get their shit together - he can’t be kept, but I may not miss the production terribly this year. Jordan will likely be worth keeping for 2 more years - it’s not as valuable as keeping Morris, but I do get 2 years out of him, and he fills a critical need this year. Tate I expected to be a flex-worthy starter, but he hasn’t been - I mostly hesitated to give him away because he’ll be a free agent this year and may be a productive starter elsewhere next year.

I give up some keeper value next year (Morris is more valuable than Jordan, Tate may be worth keeping) to try to salvage something of my season this year. Johnson/Thomas/Gordon/Jordan will be the best receiving combo in the league by a large margin I think (without having looked at others). The RB corps will be… possibly adequate. QB is a huge question mark. But this makes me better this year, and I do get a worthwhile keeper in return. Between Jordan, Gordon, and possibly Stacy, I may end up having all the keepers I can take into next year anyway.

I can’t help thinking Jules is getting screwed.

Oh, good. That means this is probably a fair trade.

My team is a mirage. I’ve gotten the benefit of some good luck and my opponents have mostly under-performed in our games. That luck won’t last, not with my terrible bye week situation putting me at a weekly disadvantage for the next six weeks. So, some tough choices had to be made. This trade is me planning for next season without tanking this season by selling high on some assets and hoping I can stay afloat and sneak into the playoffs. Hedging, basically.

I’m giving up some nice looking pieces, but I think I’m selling high for the most part. Demaryius Thomas is **the **mirage of the 2013 NFL season. I’ve tried to dump him for weeks (even before the draft I tried) in hopes that the bubble wouldn’t burst before I got something for him. I’ve watched every Denver game this season and Thomas is actually their 4th option in the passing game. Peyton Manning doesn’t look his way unless it’s on a WR screen or quick slant designed for him. Just look at his three-year low yards per catch (13.2) and career high yards after catch (7.6). He doesn’t do anything downfield, and a staggering percentage of his value is based on two flukey screens that went for touchdowns in garbage time. I’m thankful to give up on him before the cold weather kicks in and his screens and slants stop turning into big plays.

Roddy White has been a huge disappointment so far, but he’s been hurt. If he comes back after the bye healthy(ish), he’ll have the targets almost to himself in an offense that has to pass to win. And he has one of the best late season schedules you can get as a WR. I can afford to roll the dice because WR is my deepest position.

Jordan Cameron has been a huge surprise, but I’m worried Weeden might tank his upside. I’d rather have Morris in the 8th next year than Cameron, even if I trade a chance at Cameron in the 6th two years from now (i have a feeling he might not meet that keeper spot). I think I’m selling high on Cameron at a position I don’t value much and where I have a viable starter in reserve.

I didn’t want to deal Lamar Miller, but after talking with SenorBeef for a couple weeks, it became clear he was going to need a RB back to make any deal work. I like Miller and I think he’ll be great this season, but it’s always a concern when one player significantly outplays his teammates and still can’t earn the full time job (Jerome Harrison, anyone?).

So I get back Alfred Morris, the most valuable keeper in the league to pair with Percy Harvin (possibly the second most valuable). If Ben Tate does land a starting job in free agency, I’ll have a full set of great keepers (with Jeffery as a backup in case Tate signs somewhere without a path to playing time). And to do this, I didn’t really give up anything I don’t have a replacement for.

Hmm. Morris has been slightly better than I thought he had, and I suppose the Redskins won’t be playing from way behind all year. I still think you’re giving up too much, though.

Well after an extremely shitty start, I strung together two 125 point back to back wins. At 4 and 4, and a 4/14 playoff structure, I’m not likely to be able to make up lost ground, but it’s nice to have some life in my team.

It may be worth considering a 6 team playoff next year, it would still be less than half the league, and the top two seeds can get bye weeks, so there’s still competition at the top.

I really like that idea. 4/14 is a tough row to hoe, and the consolation bracket isn’t much consolation. I have quite a bit of ground to make up, but I have 3 games against teams ahead of me - so hopefully I can make some progress.

I truly, truly hate fantasy football. I would specify, but none is needed.

It could be a lot worse for you. He could’ve started the Pats defense at 24 points, and he could be starting Foles who has 25 points in the middle of the second quarter. Instead he has Matt Ryan with 4.5 points. You could still easily win this game. I don’t understand what you’re talking about.

I assume he’s talking about Gio Bernard and CJ2K having their best games of the season in the same week. But yeah, I could have started Foles. 56 points with a quarter to play.

I have Peyton in a two-QB league and my opponent this week was talking trash about how I couldn’t win without him. Guess who my #2 QB is (and whether I was prescient enough to keep Foles on my roster in case Vick went down)?

Well, I didn’t think it needed to be clarified, but I was referring to the six touchdowns that Washington’s backup running backs have scored in the three games since I traded for Alfred Morris. It really seems like I’m batting .000 on start/sit decisions this year, too.

Re: Nick Foles: it sucks to see all those points on the bench, but not even Nick’s own mom would have started him this week in your shoes.

So Rodgers is out three weeks for his collarbone. I’m clearly out of contention at this point. I’ll put him up on the blocks for a keeper prospect or two.

J-Stew and Matt Ryan?

That sounds reasonable. Wanna send it?

Anyone else have an offer?

RNATB - any interest in that deal? If you want to keep an eye on Rodgers’ injury, feel free - just let me know.

Sorry, missed your response. I’m in. Just hope Rogers gets back by Foles’ bye in Week 12.
