Yes. But I’ll make that move anyway. Deal?
Thanks for starting the wrong defense, SenorBeef!
Ah, shit, didn’t see this last week, and didn’t realize the trade deadline was upon us.
I’d make the trade if we want to extend the deadline.
Yeah, no problem.
I didn’t think a defense starting against Denver would be a good bet the way Peyton has played the last couple of games - I don’t think anyone saw that meltdown coming.
I’m now the top scorer in the league with a record of 6-4. If I don’t make the playoffs it’ll be a pretty big ripoff.
Let’s get it on! Assuming nobody objects to a trade deadline extension.
Do we have any sort of relief for a player on IR? Can they be dropped and kept the next year, or do I need to hold onto Dion Lewis the rest of the year?
Yahoo does allow IR slots. I think that might be an appropriate tool to use (or just to say that players that got IRed during the year are keepable even if dropped) to provide some relief with people who are already hammered by having an injured player worthy of being kept.
I need Crockett Gilmore to post a 0 tonight to win, otherwise I’m going to be 7-5 with the league’s highest score.
At least most of my competitors for the lower playoff spots did badly. Yellow Kings, Fourth and Nineteen, Nine Inch Neils and Varlos all lost, which helps me a lot. Baltimore Weirdos needs 26 points out of Allen and Barnridge tonight - if he loses then no one moves up on the playoff chances against me. Except obviously Furt, who would have beat me. But it gives me a strong lead for the 4th playoff spot.
Oh, are there really only 4 playoff slots? Welp.
I think 6/14 with the first round bye for the top two slots would work fine for this league, but there’s enough momentum and crotchetiness that I don’t think anything is ever getting changed.
I’ll finish out this season, but I can tell you I’m out for next year for sure. There’s enough things I dislike about the style of league that I can tell are not going to change, and without either money on the line or personally knowing the managers, I’m just not invested in the outcome.
Hmmm, I’m not sure if I’m Team Momentum or Team Crotchiness…
I’m still mathematically alive!
Just out of curiosity, what don’t you like about this league?
If I finish top in points and miss the playoffs I’m going to pee on everything. Everything.
- Such deep benches in a 14-teamer. There’s no depth available on the waiver wire. You had an RB break ankle? Tough shit, you get to start Jonathan Grimes.
- -3 for turnovers is backbreaking.
- 4 playoff slots. Just…wow. As if FF isn’t matchup dependent enough, you’re very likely to have a couple top scorers not make the palyoffs every year.
- Not much chatter, either on the boards here or on Yahoo. I’m used to a lot more conversation between owners.
Short version: It feel very swingy and luck-dependent, and without the social interaction that I am accustomed to, it’s a lot of work for what feels like a coin flip.
Fair enough. We did have a lot more talk in this league back in the day.
I do think we should clearly switch to a 6 team playoff format. It’s fun having 2 slots for a bye week too, as an extra reward for being on top. We use 6 team in the All-pro league and it’s probably too much, with half the people making the playoffs. But 6/14 is fine.
Yahoo is doing a promotion this week where every fantasy league gets to play a little daily fantasy sports / salary cap league against the other people in that league. You pick a roster of players worth $200 and then see how you do against the rest of the league. It’s mostly just for fun, although they’re giving out 2 bucks to both first and second place in these contests. They’re using it to try to promote their DFS service, but it seems like a fun little side-game to play against our fantasy leagues.
Anyway, at least 4 people in the league need to submit a roster for the contest to run. You have until the games start. So put together a little salary cap roster. It’ll take less than 5 minutes. It’s along the top of the screen - an “enter contest” button appears on the top right when you’re looking at a league page.
Woops, disregard that. I thought it said that it was free, but it’s actually a $1 contest. It’s still sort of a fun idea - playing DFS against your league - but I can’t participate since Nevada is one of the states that bans it. I thought I could because it would be free.
On pace to be 8th place with most points.
My projected points vs my opponent are 75.72 to 74.53. Weirddave to his opponent are 83.39 to 82.60. A point in either direction in both games can take me anywhere from 4th (in the playoffs) to 8th.
