He Hate Me FF Keeper League - Year 13

Well, I missed the playoffs thanks to the Weirdos just edging out their opponent this week. That means the top-scoring team stays home while the 11th-scoring team advances. Boo! Actually the top *two *scoring teams are missing the playoffs, with SenorBeef also losing out.

*Actually *actually, 3 of the top 4 scoring teams are missing the playoffs, as well as the 6th team – holy shit! The playoffs feature (if I’m seeing right) the 3rd, 5th, 8th, and 11th highest scoring teams, while the consolation bracket sees a battle between 1st, 2nd, 6th, and 7th teams. (Poor Hungry Hungry Haruspex: 4th in scoring but missing even the consolation bracket.)

However, I would (pridefully) point out that this marks the third consecutive year I’ve had the most points scored. We can check, but I don’t think I’ve had any keepers of note in that time. (That will change next year.) So that’s at least something.

Interestingly, the lowest scoring team also had the most points again.

I am screwed in the consolation bowl. Both my quarterbacks are hurt, my top two running backs are hurt, and my healthy players all have bad matchups.

The only upside is that I get to keep Dalton and Yeldon next year, not that either is a tremendous keeper value.

My margin of victory is more than most people scored in total, and it’s all for naught.

Guess who would’ve outscored every other player in the playoffs in both games and won a championship if he had somehow made the playoffs after leading the league in scoring.

Oh well, I guess I have the #1 pick and 3 great keepers for next year.

Edit: I’m jumping the gun on that one. weirddave might beat me score this week.

So reminder for next year: I’d like to propose a 6 player playoffs with 2 first round byes for this league. In a 12 man league, 6 is probably too much. But in a 14 man, 4 is too few. 6/14 feels about right to me. And having two first round byes sort of gives another tier of the playoffs to fight for, which is fun.

I have a ridiculous keep situation next year. Here are my potential keepers with the rounds they’d be kept in:

DeAndre Hopkins 3
Devante Parker 6
David Johnson 7
Latavius Murray 12
Dion Lewis 14

David Johnson is pretty much mandatory. He’s probably g oing to be a top 5 pick in drafts next year based on his finish this this year.

Hopkins is also probably a first round pick, so he’d be good value in the third round even though he’s not one of those nutty late round picks.

Parker finished out the season very productively and I have high hopes for him in his second year. But he’s not as good a value as keeping one between Murray and Lewis. Murray has a pretty good floor but Lewis has a high ceiling. But unsure due to injury/Patriots factor.

I’m leaning towards Hopkins/Johnson/Murray which would be a pretty badass core for a 3rd, 7th, and 12th pick. I also have the #1 overall.

Dion lewis is amazing value at 14. Very little opportunity cost for a potential top 10 RB.

We’re limited to 3 keepers, though, which is my concern. Obviously I would keep him if not for that limitation. I’m not sure I’d give Murray in the 12th up for him.

Wait, how the hell did you get Murray in the 14th round?

He drafted him in the 16th round last year, then kept him this year. I’m not sure I’d even heard of Murray when SenorBeef drafted him in 2014. Brilliant flier that panned out to perfection.

EDIT: flier’s really not the word I meant to use - SenorBeef was smart enough to know that a young RB third on the depth chart behind McFadden and Jones-Drew had a pretty high chance to get significant playing time.

Huh, I thought RNATB’s draft review of me last year mentioned Murray, but it was actually from Spiritus Mundi

Dion Lewis in the 16th is a similarly good find, but I just have too many keepers. David Johnson is mandatory, right? Is Hopkins in the third mandatory? I think he’s probably a #9-14 type of pick, so getting him at #29 is obviously good value. So that pretty much leaves Murray/Lewis/Parker fighting for that last keeper slot.

Yeah, wouldn’t have been me. I was all for Murray since he’s a UCF guy. If I had any reservations it would have been that you didn’t want anyone tied to the Raiders offense.

Ah, thanks.

I’m all in favor of Beef’s suggested changes, as well as proposing limiting his keepers to 0.

With the six team playoffs / bye week for top two, would the playoffs be weeks 15-17 with keeping the 14 week regular season, or would we go to a 13 week regular season and playoffs weeks 14-16? I can see arguments for both… 13 week regular season means you play everybody once, but it means the year is over sooner for those not in the playoffs.

Feh. We’re pretty much all in two-plus leagues anyway, aren’t we?

This is the only Fantasy football league I was in this year, but most years I’m in two or three.

I’d prefer to keep Week 17 off the books - it’s usually always a mess. The Big League only goes through Week 16, and has 3 weeks of playoffs. Works just fine.

13 weeks allowing everyone to play everyone else once seems perfect to me.

I concur.

I’m in with the changes too. Let’s keep going.

Cam Newton is my one good pick from this year for a keeper.
