He Hate Me FF keeper league - year 8

But those weren’t my only two, those were just the last two years in this particular league. And looking back, the year before those two I drafted Larry Johnson with the 5th overall pick. So in the last three years in this league, my first rounder has been a total bust RB all three times. (LJ, Addai, Forte) I think my pick of Peyton Manning is valid after that kind of trauma.

I used to get much better mileage out of my first rounder when I went all-homer and took Tiki Barber each year.

Hmmm. So far my first round picks in HHM have been Marion Barber (bust on the Forte level, not the LJ level), Frank Gore (missed two games, but still posted 1,500 total yards and 14 touchdowns) and MJD (we’ll see, doing well so far).

I can totally understand that reasoning, the more I think about it, especially since I was one of the people who thought Addai was a shoe-in for 1,500 yards the year you took him.

The Jamaal Charles Fumble Watch begins now. I’m up an extremely slim 0.40 points, and the Chefs game started before the Ravens/Jets game ended, so I wasn’t about to pull Charles before Heller had a chance to score some points.

BTW, doesn’t it seem like the #2 scored always gets screwed playing the top weekly scorer? Sorry, ED…

Yeah, seriously, WTF? I never catch a fantasy break, ever. #5 pick here I come…AGAIN.

Uh, you’ll have to get by me first. This might be the worst fantasy team I’ve ever assembled. I went up against Arian Foster in the Auction League (and he single-handedly cost me a win there…) and Chris Johnson in this league.

Joy. It’s going to be a long season…

Oh dear.

Um, that’s a bummer. This Eastern Timezone thing bites me in the ass again. Wanted to claim Jackson.

This is so strange. I checked the waiver list twice before I put in my claim… but it looks like Brandon Jackson was drafted. I don’t understand how that could have happened, but if he was drafted then my claim wasn’t valid and I should have my waiver priority reset, right?

Same here, and same here. (And you beat my claim out with your fancy 7 priority.) Very strange that we both made the same mistake.

Anyway, my bad, I reset your priority. You’re up to 6 now, since Dave was ahead of you and made successful claims.

This potentially makes three of us to make the same mistake. Weird.

Luckily the time zone thing didn’t burn you this time. In fairness, this league has been operating on Eastern time for 7 years now, though; are you distracted by something else?

Does waiver priority reset with standings? Shouldn’t I have had claim position one for having been in last place after week 1?

No, the only way to change your waiver priority is to make a successful waiver claim.

Note that yahoo waivers are the same waivers, so if, say, I release a guy right now and you sign him, you’ll get him after the standard yahoo 2 day waiver period on cuts but then your priority gets automatically kicked to last.

One hour before kickoff and I’m unable to find out if Hakeem Nicks (gametime decision) is starting or not. My intention is to start him if he does, and if not start Anthony Gonzalez (WR-Ind) instead.

Haven’t found a more reliable injury source than Will Carroll. He covers nearly every single injury that may affect fantasy rosters, including defensive players. He gets real-time information straight from the teams and sources on field. And if he doesn’t get the information firsthand, he’s retweeting information from those who do.

Bah. Only the Packers’ D and Mike Walker saved my day from being downright embarrassing.

Sweet, thanks for the resource. Nicks played so that’s who I would have started. And he’s the one who did actually start on my fantasy roster anyway.

Two-part question:

  1. We’re all good with me starting Nicks this week, yes?

  2. As commissioner, I’m fine with giving people their choice of starters in situations like this where it’s a gametime decision provided you post to either this thread or the yahoo board before kickoff. If you guys don’t want this feature, no worries. Anyone have a strong opinion either way?

When you face the juggernaut that is Joe Flacco (.03 total points), you must come prepared.

By the by, why in fuck’s name is Pete Carroll giving carries to Julius Jones? Forsett averages 5.8 ypc, Jones 2.5. Grrrr.

Jones took a sizeable pay cut to stay with the team, so Carroll presumably feels obligated to him. Instead, he should feel obligated to me, as someone who owns Forsett.

I’ve kinda assumed it’s the whole “There’s competition at every position” canard that Carroll used at USC and brought to the NFL, but it’s getting to the Jerome Harrison level of “Huh?”

Well, that was a nice week… Bryant, Moreno & Jackson scored, San Diego got me 28, and it’s always good when the kicker you pick up after the draft scores 13.
And even better when Chris Johnson and DeAngelo Williams combine for less than 10 points the week you face them!

Can I take back cutting Mark Sanchez?
