My two-year plan has me in first place despite not keeping any really good keeper-eligible players on my roster last year. Super-early keeper analysis: The Other Steve Smith (would cost a 7th rounder), Percy Harvin (9) and Cadillac (10) are all possibilities. Might keep Glen Coffee in the 12th as trade bait for whoever drafts Gore.
Interesting side note: my two “top” receivers aren’t likely to leave the bench outside the bye weeks until season’s end, but my two backups (Steve Smith and Percy Harvin) are doing rather well.
I didn’t have high hopes this season considering I took over a team with only one viable keeper, and he was on his last year of eligibility. So, I was primarily drafting to stay competitive this season and try to pick up some keepers for next season. Looking over my results with the hindsight from a quarter of a season done… and I have jack shit. Knowshon Moreno is on track to become a good keeper, but I’d have to keep him in round two and I just don’t see that becoming a prudent choice. LeSean McCoy likely won’t pan out this season. The rest is a wasteland. Nate Washington is a good upside receiver on a run first team. Kevin Curtis was a wasted pick, and Mike Goodson was a gamble that didn’t pan out at all. Maybe Patrick Crayton? Tashard Choice? Donnie Avery has been a pile of shit. Ugh, what a wasted season this has been! I’m reminded of how often good keeper picks went just before my pick. Hopefully at least one guy turns into something.
How often has a team with no keepers made the playoffs? Anyone know?
I cannot believe the Niners defense put up 32 frigging points to beat me this week. Thankfully the 2 teams ahead of me will lose with fewer points so I’ll still probably squeak into a playoff berth. I hope…
If I’m out I will be PISSED! That will be 2 leagues where I get shit canned on the last day but some absurd consequence. I’m ahead by 50 points and the fucking Niners score 32 points to eek past?!?! Really?
So are you saying that I won’t leapfrog Off Constantly because the totals reflect the scores through yesterday as opposed to last week?
Just did some quickie math, my point total reflects my scores through week 13. None of week 14’s points are factored in, I definitely should be in. Off Constantly will get leapfrogged by both me and the Fighting Quakers.
ETA: The Quakers will actually jump ahead of Varlos too to capture the 2nd seed.
Actually, screw you, Steve Slaton. I hate you and your stupid face. My big trade for Brady just didn’t pan out very well and my WR strategy happened to have two of my big three fall (extremely) short the one week it finally mattered. Time to play for a top draft pick…
Well, in comparison I’m thrilled to make the consolation bracket - especially with my original draft being such a autodrafted mess… I got nothing from my 5th and 6th round picks and “wasted” my 7th and 8th on DEF and K. Thankfully, Fitzgerald, Deangelo and Tony Romo all lived up to their draft spots, Owen Daniels was huge for a half a season, and Zach Miller helped out down the stretch. A couple of pickups during the year really helped me (Roy Williams, Cincinnati DEF and Buckhalter).
That being said, I’m boldly predicting that I’ll be picking 4th next year… if Fitzgerald is hurt I really have no chance in the consolation bracket.
Man, my keeper choices stink… Is Justin Fargas worth a 12? Kyle Orton worth a 8? Romo worth a 2? Zach Miller worth a 7?
I ended up in that dead zone where I missed the consolation bracket but finished high enough so that I don’t get an early-mid round draft spot. I also have some interesting choices to make regarding my keepers, as I have 4 guys who would make for a good candidate, but none of them are no-brainers. I’ll be absolutely looking to make a pre-draft deal heading into next season.
What do you mean? Me and Varlos are matched up in the Championship game. I knocked off Weirddave in the Semis and he’ll be facing furt for third place. A bunch of other dudes who don’t matter are in the consolation bracket.
And my team is utterly loaded with keepers for next year so a dynasty might be in the making.
