I saw some analysts on Twitter suggesting leagues do something like that. We could make it work, and I think in this Covid Age that it’s pretty fair. But it’s also complicated, could lead to a ton of confusion, and generally be just a big pain in the ass. It opens the door to a little bit of player pool manipulation - but we’re all adults here, who have been playing together for years, and can make it work.
If we were to allow that, we’d have to rule on whether that contingent claim prevents any other owner from picking up that player. I guess it would have to, which seems slightly wrong to me, but it’s a weird time all around…
So I made Dave’s changes and Hamlet’s change - didn’t change the results. Dave pulled closer to RNATB but still fell short; and Hamlet increased his margin of victory over dalej42 in what was already a blowout.
Let’s hope we don’t get any more postponed games. I picked up the Green Bay D for the NE bye next week (week 6) I’d really like the NE game to be played this week.
I (probably) have the high score again this week, taking me to 4-1 and the points leader for the year with the highest score overall in the season by a decent margin. I got there with only one keeper being important to my team - DK Metcalf. Otherwise I think I started Marquise Brown in my flex one week and that was it.
Spiritus Mundane got what might be one of the lowest scores in the history of the league this week. I’m not trying to pick on the guy with the worst week, except that it was really exceptionally flukey bad. 18.37 points with Devin Singletary left to play.
I’m the beneficiary of that fluke of a week. He’s got a bunch of regulars on the bench for bye/injury, and he stacks San Francisco at QB/TE/K/DEF, who had a terrible day. Hell of a perfect storm.
Even if Davonte Adams wasn’t on a bye, he’d likely be sitting the day out resting. And if that was the case, my top 3 WRs (preseason ranked #2, #3 and #10) combined for 2.2 points. Things aren’t looking good for my long-term viability in this league this year (again).
I thought my goose was pretty much cooked when Courtland Sutton and Chris Godwin both went down, since my team was basically built around them, but after a shaky Week 1 my team is looking pretty good now.
Admittedly, I’m the beneficiary of Omni having an unexpected bye this week, but he only got 3 points from the players who would have started for him at RB.
I got negative .4 from my QB once in the Dynasty league (which takes off points for sacks). I think it was from Matt Schaub. There have been worse performances, though.
I had to start JaMarcus Russell in the Dynasty league one time and it wasn’t pretty. Can’t remember if I got negative points or low single digits, but it was an ugly day
Sorry I don’t get around as much (since I found Reddit); I see that no one really remembers me. I did meet one league member personally and I enjoy this every year. finally had no problems with drafting my own team. Has anyone else left as many points on the bench as I did this week?
Hope everyone is dealing well with Covid and the world.
Make sure you manage your team and set your roster every week even if you’re doing poorly. I know it can be hard to stay invested during a crappy season, but it’s not fair for league balance to have some people not even competing. For instance, if two teams are fiighting for a playoff spot, and one of them gets to face 3 people who aren’t really trying and gets 3 free wins, and the other guy only faces people who are trying, then it’s not fair if the guy who had to play the people who weren’t trying to snatch that spot up because he didn’t really have competition.
After putting up an absolutely ungodly amount from the KC defense, Dave is just 5 points ahead of me, and I have Cam Akers left to play - so chalk that up for a win for Dave. I completely spaced on the waiver wire this week, and both the guys I would have targeted scored plenty of points. Damn - I hate it when I make stupid, easy mistakes in this game.
