Hopefully your draft skills aren’t either.
Bang! Zoom!! That’s the kind of amazing humor you can expect tonight.

Bang! Zoom!! That’s the kind of amazing humor you can expect tonight.
We forgot to discuss this. In the dynasty league we just ignored the extra week and are playing the same schedule we did last year, but we may want an extra week in this league. I’m fine either way - keep it the same or add an extra regular season game.
Also, I sent out a PM to everyone who hasn’t posted today to remind them about the draft.
This league always hates my drafts, several of them have been autodrafts. Still, I stay competitive. I’ll try not to have another heart attack or any other major medical problem this year, I promise.
I’m fine with whatever the league imported as at this point.
I say play the extra week. If I don’t have fantasy football, I may resort to sports betting, which often doesn’t go well for me.
I’m on the discord server now, so hop on if you want to see if everything is working or you want a little tech support. If you want in on the voice chat, just click the general under voice chat on the left.
That could have gone better…
Self-review:
Keepers, DK Metcalf 7th, David Montgomery 3rd, D’Andre Swift 7th
|1. |(12) |Travis Kelce (KC - TE)|
Didn’t expect Adams to fall to me here, and I was super tempted to take him, but I really like Kelce this year. He has no questions and he’s just really far ahead of any other TE. Since there are only a few TEs that are worth anything, having one is a big advantage. And with my Metcalf keeper, I felt like I could pass on a WR here and still pick up a good one at #16.
|2. |(17) |DeAndre Hopkins (Ari - WR)|
He was the #1 scoring WR when Kyler was healthy, I don’t see why he doesn’t get off to a fast start and a WR1 finish here.
|3. |(40) |David Montgomery (Chi - RB)|
This is not amazing value, but Montgomery was actually the #5 RB in fantasy last year. Sure, he’s not amazing and he beat up on some poor defenses, but it seems like they figured out how to use him at the end and while I don’t think he’ll be top 10, I don’t see why 10-16 isn’t possible, and that’s good value for the 40th pick.
|4. |(45) |D’Andre Swift (Det - RB)|
Again not an amazing keeper value but solid. The guys who would’ve been available here are Gaskin, Mostert, Sermon, Ronald Jones. I feel like he’s got a shot to be the best of the bunch.
|5. |(68) |Antonio Brown (TB - WR)|
This is a risky play. I decided my team was solid enough by this point to have a high ceiling pick. There’s probably just not enough balls to go around in TB to make him worth it, but I think Brady and AB are going to have a rapport and he’s got a good shot at going nuts. Still, maybe this was too early for a lottery ticket to a moon shot.
|6. |(73) |Matthew Stafford (LAR - QB)|
I like Stafford this year having a big year with his new team with a much better offense than he has had in yearsi n detroit. I would’ve liked to have got Wilson in the 5th, but he didn’t make it to me. Since I had keepers in rounds 3-4, I missed all the top tier quarterbacks. I like Stafford more than the guys who went after him: Hurts, Tannehill, Burrow.
|7. |(96) |DK Metcalf (Sea - WR)|
One of the better keepers in the league this year, I see no reason why he can’t work his way into a lower WR1 finish.
|8. |(101) |Marvin Jones Jr. (Jax - WR)|
This is a high floor guy to pair with my AB high ceiling pick. He’s going to get a lot of volume in Jacksonville being the only guy who has proven to be able to catch footballs.
|9. |(124) |Jakobi Meyers (NE - WR)|
Things were getting pretty thin here, I didn’t have a lot of options. I don’t really have a particular reason that Meyers is going to be great this year. No real vision with this pick.
|10. |(129) |Elijah Moore (NYJ - WR)|
I know at this point my team is WR-heavy and I have no backup RBs which is dangerous. But there are no RBs that I really like all that much at this stage. I do like Moore, I think he’ll be a productive rookie and worth keeping next year.
|11. |(152) |Los Angeles (LAR - DEF)|
I like jumping ahead a round or two to get the defense you really want rather than waiting for the run to happen and to get a middle of the pack one. Rams have Donald and are generally ranked as one of best 3 defenses.
|12. |(157) |J.K. Dobbins (Bal - RB)|
I was actually considering going Dobbins/Etienne back to back with my 11th and 12th round picks. I mostly didn’t do that because it would’ve been a touch too high a price to keep them next year. But I really like Dobbins, I think my team is strong enough to punt a slot, and it gives me a huge head start next year. I worried someone else would get slick and take him before my next pick 20+ picks later if I didn’t snag him here.
|13. |(180) |Ty Johnson (NYJ - RB)|
This is RB desperation - I had no backup at all at this point, and Ty Johnson is a guy who will probably put up 5-8 points a week in a NYJ committee, and he’s one of the few players available then that could do that.
|14. |(185) |Terrace Marshall Jr. (Car - WR)|
Upside pick. He’s super talented. His upside is limited this year in a crowded receiving corps in a so-so offense, but I think talent will win out and he’ll be worth keeping next year.
|15. |(208) |Le’Veon Bell (KC - RB)|
Again, RB desperation. Justice Hill got hurt and the Ravens signed him. I don’t know if he’s strictly a handcuff there or will get a time share, but I had a few handcuff type guys (Royce Freeman, Gallman) and decided what the hell and just picked one.
|16. |(213) |Jason Sanders (Mia - K)|
Fantasypros said he was ranked high. He plays for a warm weather team. He kicks the football.
I don’t know if anyone is going to review the league’s picks, but feel free to review your own draft and give some reasoning and predictions behind it if you want.
We actually had 10 people show up in discord for the voice chat which was a record high, that was pretty cool.
After finishing second last year (due to my inability to change my lineup on the last Sunday to put in Zeke instead of Tony Pollard in my starting lineup. I’m not bitter; YOU’RE BITTER!!!), I came into this season wanting to really dive deep into fantasy football, prepare well, and come away from the draft with a really solid team.
Instead of that, I’ll do a draft review.
Last year, I graded everyone’s draft on a movie scale. His year, it’s musical groups. Hope you all enjoy it, and take it in the lighthearted manner in which it is intended.
Let’s get it on:
Tom Brady Was A Wolverine (Who couldn’t even win the starting job outright and platooned with Drew Hensen)
Best Pick: Emmanuel Sanders in the 13th round. Nobody passes the ball more than the Bills and Sanders is (for now) their #2 wideout. Fantastic value.
Worst pick: Deebo Samuel before Cooks, Davis, Jones Jr, and even D.Smith was a reach (not enough passing to go around if Aiyuk and Kittle stay healthy). Also, what the hell does Ryan Fitzpatrick add to your team? You’ll always start Rodgers, Fitz going there was early for an iffy backup with limited upside and no keeper value. Luckily you grabbed Mac Jones, making your 10th round pick expendable before football even starts.
Overall: Great start to the draft, getting 2 starting Rbs and Kittle. While the backups do absolutely nothing for me (Free Devin!!!), there is a nice balance between upside (I’m not a believer, but Waddle has upside) and floor (Sanders and Singletary). And with CMC, all things are possible.
Band: Double Trouble. Some competent. complimentary musicians, but it’s really all about SRV, I mean CMC.
PostMahomes
Best Pick: Fantastic finish to the draft (damn your sobriety!). Chuba and Amon Ra have both upside and keeper value. And were fantastic value when taken. Great!
Worst Pick: Zeke at #2. Dude’s ypc has dropped each of the last two years, and his Oline isn’t special anymore. I had Cook, Kamara, and Henry all higher ranked. And not getting Pollard will be an issue.
Overall: You locked down your starters and got some OK depth. But outside of CeeDee Lamb, I see almost no “Wow” game winners on the team.
Band: Aerosmith, the perfect “Meh” band. Solid, middle of the road band that is fine, I guess. But there are so many other bands out there that do it better.
Omnipotents
Best Pick: Getting Dalvin Cook was awesome, but also a no-brainer. I liked the lottery tickets of Tyrell Williams and Kadarius Toney. Good value, with upside.
Worst Pick: What kind of fucking idiot drafts a shared time, rookie RB in the 4th round? ::checks last year’s draft for JK Dobbins:: Ummmmm. Nevermind.
I’m not a fan of chasing the RB run. Sermon and Carter were drafted way early and, while there is certainly upside there, I don’t expect either of them to get enough touches to be anything more than hope for injury so they’re move than iffy fill ins.
Overall: Chasing the completely unproven upside of Sermon, Carter, Callaway, Fields, and Toney could pay off huge, but that’s a lot of risk for this year. You could be done by Week 5, waiting for them to finally hit. Good keeper situation though.
Band: The Yardbirds (I’m dating myself here). Clapton, Beck, Page. Guys who went onto stardom … elsewhere and later. The Yardbirds never really gelled into the Supergroup they could have been. But if things had gone right, they would’ve been Zeppelin. And that’s pretty damn impressive.
Spiritus Mundane
Best Pick: Having Etienne get injured. Made your keepers of J.Robinson/Aiyuk/Chark amongst the best in the league. Personally, I love Aiyuk, but I think Robinson is just a guy who has lucked into a starting gig, and Chark has flamed out, as Jones/Shenault will take everything except the “go deep DJ, and maybe you’ll get it”.
Worst Pick: This team has bought the hype. I know Pitts is all-seeing, perfect prospect, Odell was amazing, and Mahomes is the best in the biz, I just worry that, where drafted, they’re more hype than production, and that they aren’t that much better than cheaper options.
Overall: Coming into the draft with a starting RB and WR lets you swing for the fences and spend huge. Hence Mahomes, Pitts, and Beckham. This team is set up for success, with a strong starting lineup and a bit of depth. Watch out!
Band: Journey. A supergroup made up of other (better) bands like Santana and the Steve Miller Band, that had a ton of hits, sold huge, and made it to the Hall of Fame. And, personally, I don’t like them much.
Big Mack Attack
Best Pick: I liked the overall strategy very much. Ignoring the TE position (keeper). Taking advantage of fallers (Mike Evans and Derrick Henry). Backing up starters with 3rd down/backups (you pinched Salvon Ahmed from me, you bastard!). And mixing upside (Fuller/Chase) with solidness (Gaskin/Henderson). Great strategy.
Worst Pick: I love watching AJ Brown, but with Julio in town, I fear his volume won’t beat out the price of drafting him before A.Rob and Cooper. I’m also concerned that having Herbert as your only QB will lead to a few losses that could have been wins.
Overall: A solid, very competitive team that I should like more than I do. I worry Henry’s invisible invincibility shield will start to crack, getting both Brown and Henry will handcuff you some weeks, and Herbert has a sophomore slump. Still. A championship is within reach if everything clicks.
Band: Allman Brothers/Kinks. I absolutely can appreciate that they are amazing/accomplished bands that are Hall of Fame worthy. I just only like a couple of their songs and I won’t ever play them for myself.
Disgruntled Goats
Best Pick: Loved the Brandin Cooks pick; Great Value and the Texans are going to have to throw a ton. He probably wouldn’t have made it to me, but I still hate you for it.
Worst Pick: A kicker in Round 13 should be a “put ‘em in the stocks!” offense. You have no defense, and, to my knowledge, no one to put on IR to grab a defense. And I expect huge TD regression from Robert Tonyan, and it was, to me, early to start the run on the mass of “maybe him “TE’s
Overall: Another team with a solid core and enviable depth. Great job getting startable WR’s despite going RB/RB in the first two rounds. And making garbage picks at the end (Vaughn, Gage, and Washington have not been, and will never be things. Ever.) makes it easier to work the waiver wire. I’m impressed/scared of this team, but weaknesses at TE/DEF/RB depth could be troubling.
Band: The Police. By no means perfect, but a great band that I like a lot and listen to often. Some weaknesses (I was never a huge fan of Andy Summers’ guitarwork and Mother could be the worst song of all time.) Should make the playoffs and contnd for the title if healthy.
Hermits
Best Pick: Nelson Agholor has a few game winning weeks to his game and may be the #1 scoring WR in NE. Great lottery ticket. I thought Joe Mixon was a good pick too, he was the last of the even passable starting Rbs in the draft.
Worst Pick: HomeyHomer Homerston from Homersville. Jesus man, you have 6 fucking Steelers on your roster, including the perenially overrated Kalen Ballage. You also drafted the Steelers D too early and keeping Ben in the 4th Round was just silly, which you seem to acknowledge by drafting your backup QB in the 7th Round.
Overall: Oofa, that’s rough. Getting Tannehill was great insurance (and completely fucked me out of my starting QB, thanks), but this is not a good team. Unless the Steelers find a time machine back to 2015 and Najee Harris gets injured, this team will struggle all yar.
Band: Insane Clown Posse. A very, very devoted group of misfits are the only reason this team exists, and, from what I’ve seen and heard, I’m not a fan.
More Soon …
Continued:
Carcossa Yellow Kings
Best Pick: I liked a lot of your guys. Justin Jefferson. Tee Higgins. Darrel Williams. And they were all at least OK value where you got them (Although Higgins before Moore was an issue).
Worst Pick: It’s nice to remember Playoff Lenny, but Leonard Fournette averaged 3.8 ypc, and had one good game all last year, and likely no one started him. It’s going down to the quarry and throwing your 7th round pick in. And your starting QB is Jalen Hurts.
Overall: A,Jones,A.Gibson,Jefferson, Higgins, Waller, and Julio gives you one of the best starting lineups in the league. And it doesn’t really matter for our purposes that Jalen Hurts is a bad, inefficient, dangerous real-life QB; he does run a lot. But he’s not 6’5” 250, so that comes with risk. I expect a very competitive team up until an injury happens, because I’m not a fan of the depth.
Band: The Wailers. A fantastic lineup that made great, world changing music and eventually broke through to popularity. But a loss of a member (Tosh) or two (Bob Marley), and you’re stuck with a garbage bin of futile nostaglia.
Nine Inch Neils
Best Pick: Loved, loved, loved the Bryan Edwards pick, great value and high upside. Corey Davis has a shot for a great ROI.
Worst Pick: Javonte Williams in the 3rd, Thielen in the 4th, and Dillon in the 6th smacked of desperation. But it wasn’t too costly and they do have upside… And I’ll never understand your mancrush on Tre’Quan Smith (although he does have more value with Winston in and Michael Thomas out).
Overall: The ride or die on Josh Allen could prove troubling, but overall, it should be a good team. I do expect, however, a ton of regression, from Josh Allen’s accuracy and TD total to Taylor’s numbers now with Mack and Hines to Thielans’ insane TD total. If I’m wrong, however, this team could be great.
Band: Def Leppard. A talented band that came out hot, hit it massively huge, were great for awhile, then slowly tapered off and, after you think about it for awhile, you struggle to remember why you thought they were so good to begin with. Pour Some Sugar On Me still fucking rocks, though. And this team might too.
4th and Nineteen
Best Pick: Sterling Sheppard in the 15th is nice. And MVS in the 12th is boom or bust, but could be very helpful. They better be.
Worst Pick:Saquon over Ekeler only adds risk, and I think Mark Ingram/Tevin Coleman/Cam Akers will all be utterly useless, both this year and next.
Overall: Going RB/RB and getting two starters is a solid start. But your WR corp is putrid. Lockett scored like 40% of his fantasy value (and 80% of his Tds) in 3 games, and stunk in most of the others. And he’s your #1. The focus on Rbs, I think, cost this team a lot at the bWR position.
Band: Weezer. At its best, it can be great. If the starting Rbs click, Jackson can incorporate the passing game more, and Lockett gets hot, it could be nigh but unstoppable. But it almost as equally likely that it will release a pile of garbage or just stink for a week. Expect a roller coaster of a year.
Chicago Cardinals
Best: I like Nico Collins and Dyami Brown late. One of them may pop. And Jameis late was nice. And the guys you took early (Ekeler, McLaurin, Mostert, and Smith-Schuster) are all guys I really like this year.
Worst: 6th, 7th, and 10th round seems early for Rbs who are complimentary at best useless unless someone gets injured. Although if just one of those 3 gets the starting gig …
Overall: I like this team a lot. I’m pissed you poached my dream pick (Ekeler), and you seemngly kept taking all the guys I had targeted (but one or 2 rounds before I would have), but it may work out well for you.
Band: Dada. I like them, probably more than I should and more than a vast majority of people who have heard of them, IF they’ve heard of them. But I do really think they’re awesome.
Exploding Pancakes
Best Pick: The Juniors, Marvin Jones and Terrance Marshall. Both were good value when drafted and can be solid to exceptional for this team. Fuck You.
Worst Pick: Jacobi Myers lost a lot of his value when he no longer has Cam Newton staring him down every play. And how the fuck do you draft Swift, and not go out of your way to draft Jamaal Williams in the 6th round? Fuck You.
Overall: Kelce is the best in the NFL at his position. Hopkins, Metcalf, Jones, and Marshall could give you the best WR crew in the league. And the Rams defense is outstanding (if a bit overdrafted). But you’re relying on Matthew Stafford, David Montgomery, and D’andre Smith to contribute, which is not something I’d like to do. But if they are even just average (hint: they all wont be), this team could win it all. Fuck You.
Band: Queen. If Stafford, Montgomery, and Swift (or two of the three) can overcome the mediocrity I think they are mired in, you’ll be “pre-death of Freddie Mercury” Queen: very, very awesome. If not, you’ll be post-Freddie Mercury Queen, still good, but far from dominant.
Oh, and Fuck You.
Moridwon
Best Pick: I liked getting Logan Thomas (my last high upside TE before the morass of medicority) late in the 5th. And the trio of Michael Thomas, Zach Ertz, and Marlon Mack could see their value skyrocket next year,
Worst Pick: Mack, Evans, and Williams were clearly desperation picks.
Overall: I did what worked last year, take WR/TE/Qbs while the hyperinflated run on mediocre Rbs goes on. So, once again, I like those positions and dislike my depth at RB. I need Najee Harris to be at least a low end #1 RB and one of my garbage Rbs (or a waiver pickup) to emerge to fill my #2 RB spot.
Band: Smashing Pumpkins. Great band with moderate success, but not quite in any pantheon of greatness. Plus, the leader thinks he’s so much better than he really is.
Baltimore Weirdos
Best Pick: I liked the value of Devonta Smith (and fuck you for sniping him one pick before I could), and Courtland Sutton could really pay off.
Worst Pick: Homerism strikes again. There is no world where Gus Edwards is the 11th best RB. The Ravens continue to show (by bringing in Ingram and drafting Dobbins) that they don’t think he’s capable of being a true #1 RB. I agree with them.
Overall: I really liked your draft last year, and look how well that turned out. And I dislike your draft this year. There are certainly some players I like (good job getting Cam Akers injured, so the Pats would trade Sony Michel, thereby increasing the value of both him and Damien Harris above quagmire status), and some I don’t (Matt Ryan starter? 3 rookies?). But I just don’t see this draft as anything more than average with some rookie hopes for keepers.
Band: REO Speedwagon. At one point, I liked them (Ridin’ the storm out was passable), but very quickly that like turned to hate as the band wrote glurgey crap song after glurgey crap song and became a laughable parody of a “rock” band. Yet, here they are 40 years later, still touring and making money. Granted it’s State Fairs and they’re just play their hits from 40 fucking years ago to crowds of idiotic, nostalgic geezers who couldn’t get it up without a blue pill, but still want to play “remember when I mattered?”
God, I just realized I fucking HATE REO Speedwagon. Sorry, Dave. I don’t dislike your draft that badly.
Well, there you have it. Good Luck Everyone.
Post Mahomes - self review
Keepers - none
Zeke should put up some nice numbers with Dak coming back, even if the Cowboys are mediocre. A soft NFC East schedule definitely helps.
Lamb is an exciting WR who has a talent for making things happen. Unfortunately this pick makes me dependent on the Cowboys-O. A safer pick would’ve been to go with Davis at RB and then whatever WR was still sitting around but I love the upside if the Cowboys get hot.
Sanders had a pretty solid 2020 under the circumstances and I feel good about his ability to produce better numbers in 2021.
I feel like people are always surprised by his productivity but Anderson has proven to be a dependable WR. McCaffrey’s return means fewer looks for Anderson, but a more complete offense could also mean better opportunities for big plays.
I’m excited to see what the revised Seahawks look like this year. Hopefully, the OC change will help Wilson avoid the deluge of pressure that hindered him last season.
Not sure how I feel about Cincy’s O but there is a lot of upside to Boyd when you consider his experience. There is a lot of talent around him but he may end up standing out with consistency.
I knew I was going with Moss as soon as Singletary came off the board ahead of me. Running Back by committee can be a terrible situation but at this point in the draft it’s exciting to see who will separate themselves from the pack.
I’ll be pretty happy if Tua and Miami start rolling. I’m not fully sold on them but TEs with a high number of targets can have successful seasons even when the offense struggles.
The Ravens have a lot of contenders but he’s a highly targeted receiver who finished strong last year.
(139) J.D. McKissic (Was - RB)
WFT could have a more dynamic offense this season and McKissic has proven to be a solid receiving back. This may be an exciting pick if they get a little Fitzmagic.
(142) Kirk Cousins (Min - QB)
Looking forward to plugging him in for Week 9
(167) San Francisco (SF - DEF)
There is something comforting about having a reliable Defense.
(170) Hunter Henry (NE - TE)
My TEs have the same BYE so this isn’t ideal, but if NEs offense gets hot then Henry may benefit.
(195) Chuba Hubbard (Car - RB)
(198) Amon-Ra St. Brown (Det - WR)
These were really fun picks because of the future potential. Amon-Ra is more likely to contribute this season since Hubbard won’t see much time unless CMC is out.
(223) Tyler Bass (Buf - K)
Buffalo will generate plenty of scoring opportunities for him and he’s had success at distances of 40+.
Carcosa Yellow Kings
(8) Aaron Jones (GB - RB)
I knew drafting 8th I was going to get a middle of the pack RB1 like Jones, Mixon, Ekeler or Harris. I like Jones’ situation more, but I really wish someone above had taken Kelce or Adams instead and let someone fall. I hope AJ Dillon stays on the bench again this season.
(21) Justin Jefferson (Min - WR)
I’m very happy with Jefferson, who absolutely should have been kept by dale. I think I’d rather have gotten Adams/Mixon than Jones/Jefferson, but that’s splitting hairs.
(36) Antonio Gibson (Was - RB)
Gibson is a solid keeper, offering about a round and a half of bonus value. I likely would have been tempted to take a top QB if I didn’t already have him, and I would have been in a really tight RB situation without him. (Or I’d have taken Mixon, and been screwed at WR).
(49) Tee Higgins (Cin - WR)
I wanted to start hammering WRs at this point, because there’s a lot of talent at this stage, but you need volume to find the breakout. Higgins has both talent and opportunity.
(64) Julio Jones (Ten - WR)
Ugh. I get burned by Jones nearly every year. But this year will be different! (It actually will - I’d much rather he burn me as a round 5 pick than as a Round 2 pick like normal.)
(77) Jalen Hurts (Phi - QB)
I wanted one of the Round 5 QBs, but that wasn’t meant to be. I don’t really want any of the Round 6-7 QBs, but I think Hurts is far better than any of them. We’ll see.
(92) Leonard Fournette (TB - RB)
RB depth doesn’t exist in this universe. Of the RBs taken around here, I think he gets far more regular touches, rather than just being a talented handcuff like Pollard.
(105) Curtis Samuel (Was - WR)
He was higher on my list than others, nothing more I can add about Samuel. He’s a truly uninspired pick.
(120) Henry Ruggs III (LV - WR)
I rolled the dice on Riggs last year, and nothing came of it. I have to think the Raiders improve their offense at some point - there’s actual talent here.
(133) Darrel Williams (KC - RB)
CEH has been unimpressive in camp, and Andy plays the hot hand. I’ll take it for Round 10 RB depth.
(148) Darren Waller (LV - TE)
One of the best keepers in the league this year, hands down. He’ll win me a couple games on his own.
(161) Nyheim Hines (Ind - RB)
If he hadn’t been kept, he likely would have been picked several rounds earlier, so he was a good value.
(176) Sam Darnold (Car - QB)
I actually think Darnold is a tremendous talent, and in a place ripe for success. The Jets never gave him a chance, but I think we’ll see results in Carolina.
(189) Indianapolis (Ind - DEF)
The Colts are an underrated defense, and are going to be top 5 at the position this year.
(204) Jalen Reagor (Phi - WR)
I think DeVonta Smith is really talented. But I also don’t think he steps up into the WR1 role in Philly just yet. So I’m happy to take the top receiving option on a team in around 15.
(217) Rodrigo Blankenship (Ind - K)
He wears funny glasses.
Thanks for the review, @Hamlet. It’s true that I was not going to keep Robinson until Etienne went down. I’ll even accept the HYPE charge on Pitts. I waffled between him and Logan Thomas here, but I think Thomas volume regresses significantly with the WFT additions at WR but especially the transition to Fitzmagic. I expect a much different target distribution from that offense this year. ATL on the other hand will be playing from behind all year and Matty has to toss that ice to someone other than Ridley. So yeah - I am on the Pitts train for TE4 - TE8 with higher upside than Thomas, Higbee, or Hockenson. OBJ has some risk reward, but I was comfortable taking that risk with Godwin and Aiyuk already secured.
You’re full of it calling Mahomes hype, though. How many years does he need to excel before you think it might be a trend? Which QB had his top 2 targets taken in round 1 of this very draft? Are Hill and Kelce in the hype bubble, too? Or is CEH going to be throwing to them on a ton of HB options?
But none of that analysis offends. I could have accepted it all with grace. But then you had to throw Journey at me!! Steve Perry’s banal warbling that would be justifiably banished to the dustbin of history if not for a ridiculous fake high school acapella group and a multi-generational yearning for nostalgic Novocain. Have you no shame, sir. At long last, have you no shame!
Journey existed before and after Steve Perry, and was originated by actual musicians with pretty proven track records. They have sold over 48 million albums, had 19 top 40 hits, and are in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. They have the best selling digital track of the 20th century, have toured on and off for over 40 years (you have 11 days until their next Vegas show), and they’ve gotten more teenaged boys (who are currently middle aged) laid than Zeppelin could ever hope to,
Journey is, by almost every definition, a massive success.
Which doesn’t mean I have to like them. But, in an effort to reach a mutual understanding, you can be any of the following successful bands Hamlet dislikes:
Foreigner
Grateful Dead
Limp Bizkit
Toto
Boston
Coldplay
Chicago
Any band correctly called a “boy band”
Take your pick
And OUCH, looks like Gus Edwards is out for the season.
Did my Leveon Bell lottery ticket just pay off? Wow.
Love you too, Hamface. Thanks for the reviews.
(Montgomery doesn’t have to be good to get that sweet sweet volumee)
I’m tempted to offer beastie boys, but in remembrance of a very wild weekend in my youth I’ll take Grateful Dead and a secret smile
Tom Brady was a Wolverine
- (1) Christian McCaffrey (Car - RB)
- (28) George Kittle (SF - TE)
- (29) Mike Davis (Atl - RB)
- (56) Diontae Johnson (Pit - WR)
- (57) Aaron Rodgers (GB - QB)
- (84) Deebo Samuel (SF - WR)
- (85) Devin Singletary (Buf - RB)
- (112) Jaylen Waddle (Mia - WR)
- (113) Malcolm Brown (Mia - RB)
- (140) Ryan Fitzpatrick (Was - QB)
- (141) Tony Jones Jr. (NO - RB)
- (168) Austin Hooper (Cle - TE)
- (169) Emmanuel Sanders (Buf - WR)
- (196) Mac Jones (NE - QB)
- (197) Kansas City (KC - DEF)
- (224) Robbie Gould (SF - K)
CMac, Kittle, and Rodgers == 3 pure studs at their positions, each a threat to be top scorer in role. But your WR stink. I’m not high on Johnson this year, but he’s at least a reasonable WR2. Unfortunately he’s your WR1 and you don’t have a solid WR2 behind him. And 3QB is just silly with Rodgers in your lineup. If he goes down, you are done for. Not even Fitzmagic could pull you back from that.
As a draft strategy, 5RB and 2 QB in teh first 11 picks is so very 2001 I had to check to make sure Emmitt Smith wasn’t on your roster. I really love your triplets, but your need more than trips to win at the big table.

My hatred for the Cowbums makes it impossible to fairly grade the top of your draft. But thank you for over drafting Elliott so I didn’t have to consider him @ 4. Elliott, Lamb, and Sanders were all over drafted, but not horribly so. And if you have an irrational love for the high-scoring NFC East who am I to confront you with reality.
