He Hate Me Keeper League 2023 - year 21

The craziest thing about this season is that the last place team is only 3 games out of a playoff spot and 4.5 games out of first place. He’s also got the 4th highest point total…in a 14-team league. With a loss the highest point total has a good chance of missing the playoffs. Complete madness.

We appear to be closing in on quite the playoff log jam. Still 2 games to play this week but we may end up with like 5 teams tied for 3rd place with one week to go.

This is the last week of the regular season

If I’m looking at this right, it looks like Hamlet is jumping up to grab the last playoff spot?

Once the results are official, I think we’ll have this playoff seeding.

  1. Big Mack Attack at 9-4-1
  2. Carcosa Yellow Kings 9-5
  3. Chicago Cardinals 8-6
  4. Omnipotents 8-6
  5. Hermits 8-6
  6. Moridwon (Hamlet) 7-7
  7. Frosty’s Post Mahomes 7-7
  8. Exploding Pancakes 7-7
  9. Baltimore Weirdos 7-7
  10. Go Cowboys Scotty 7-7

I’m just eyeballing the total points for, and some of these spots are separated by single digits. I may have it wrong. But even so that is one spectacular outcome for the last playoff spot.

Edit: Even crazier, I won by less than 7 points. If that game goes the other way we’d have 7 teams at 7-7.

Well, after starting the season losing to Frosty in what was the most pathetic game this league has ever seen (48.70 - 43.63) I redeemed myself by beating him with the 4th worst win total on the season. How I went from 0-3 to a first round bye is a testament to how terrible we all are crazy this league is.

That was quite the combination of results that jumped Hamlet up to sixth and the main bracket.

My team certainly collapsed down the stretch (6-3 then lost five in a row to finish 6-8) - but I always thought my good record at the start was smoke and mirrors.

Good luck to all in the playoffs! And for those finishing 7-12, don’t forget there is a consolation bracket, the winner of which gets the first pick in next year’s draft.

After losing Ekeler, Taylor, and Higgins for chunks of the year and getting absolutely nowhere after putting out trade offers to QB needy teams for Allen or Herbert, I’m a bit surprised I made the playoffs. I don’t think I have much of a shot with Taylor still out, but as this season has once again shown, anything can happen in fantasy football.

Good luck everyone.

Absolute pig of a game but I survived against Hermits. Bummer he got burned by Tyreek’s late scratch but doesn’t appear it would have made a difference. Incidentally I lost in my big money league with Tyreek the same way, fortunately that also wouldn’t have been decisive. Though his injury last week cost me a bye, so…

Now I get to test myself against Jake Browning in the semis.

Hamlet’s miracle run ends with a whimper in spite of an absolute turd of a game from the Cowboys and Dak.

In keeping with the chaos of the season, the bottom seed in the consolation bracket put up a monster game.

I had a relatively good team. I was outscored by most of the playoff teams by ~15 points in total over the course of the season. But this is the most useless 143-point outing ever, really.

And here we go. A rematch of the 2018 championship (hopefully with the opposite result). Disappointingly, looks like I won’t be able to finish the season with Ja’Marr Chase, who carried me these last three years.

I’m kinda relieved I didn’t make the finals. My team is depleted, and I get a slightly better draft pick for next year. I was watching the Bengals game and was mad as hell they didn’t kick a field goal in the red zone, and went for 2 at least once. But I’m even more glad they went for 2 - if they had kicked one more PAT, I’d have lost by 1 yard (rush/rec)!

Well, it took all season, but this prediction finally came true at the worst possible time.

Post-mortem:

In the end, I have no one to blame but myself. If I hadn’t touched my lineup at all from last week I would’ve won easily. But I felt I needed Chase in there even though he was still struggling to return from injury. (and let’s face it, I don’t think trusting the Packers who just let Carolina score 30 points would’ve been wise).

Oh well. Last time I came in second, I ended up languishing at the bottom the next two years. I’m hoping to avoid a repeat. I won’t have Chase anymore and I’ll be picking at the end, but I think with Zay Flowers (Round 8) and Rashee Rice (Round 14!) locked up the next two years I should be able to build a formidable team again.

Congrats to @dalej42. I’ll see you again in 5 years.

Nice work, Dale - that was a dominant season in a really weird season for the league.

Bort, I’m not sure many of us would have set a different lineup. Maybe I’d have gone with GB’s defense, but that wouldn’t have pushed you over. Bench points suck.
