He still needs me!

Had a mom moment last night. My big tall (6’1 + 170 lb ) son, 17 years old, has worked for 2 years, has his own car that he paid for 100%, etc. was out w/friends. I told him to be home by midnight (he had to be to work the next am at 6 plus he’s a new driver and state law says he can’t be driving between midnight and 6 am unless to or from work).

I, on the other hand, went out. SO and I went to dinner (where I got off a great one liner on him…), he headed back to his shop (he fixes electronic musical gear - like amps, keyboards etc so his customers are mostly professional muscians, so he’s in his shop in the evenings). Last night I decided to hang out with him for a while, play on his computer and keep him company instead of heading off to home alone.

Midnight arrives, phone rings. SO answers “Name of shop here”… “Oh, hi. your mom? what does she look like? no, she’s here…”

Son was worried. He got home and “mom” wasn’t where he expected her to be.

Well duh. Where else is he supposed to get bail money that late at night? :stuck_out_tongue:

…d&r…

oh, that’s just cruel. ( ) Have you met my son??? There are many, many excellent reasons he’s an only child.

That’s cute, wring.
He was worried about Mommy!

You are a lucky woman, wring dear!

Awwwww. How sweet!

Now, two questions:

  1. What was the one-liner?

  2. Your husband repairs gear? And I didn’t know this until now? Sheesh! I may need his number. My husband has gear that needs repairing, and he’ll drive to where you are if he can get the work done.

I’m 19 and not only do I wig when I can’t find my mommy, but I give my 12 year old sister a rough time about not calling and telling us (me) where she is.

I’m a maternal fuss-budget. (And the mom thing isn’t just dependance. Its also that I miss her when she’s gone and I need to know how to time dinner so it’ll be ready when she gets home.)

What a totally beautiful story. Best Father’s Day gift I’ve gotten so far

Cartooniverse

My friend told me yesterday she got her son a cell phone so that she can call him anytime & find out where he is. You might look into that idea for yourself

I am soooo glad that some one asked about the one liner. We’re at dinner, we each had a couple of kewi slices w/our dinner. I’d used a spoon to semi-cut it away from the skin, and had no problem. I watched as he struggled trying to get the knife to cut away precisely at the skin, I said “gee, I used my spoon.”. He replied “Yea, but you don’t have my exacting standards”, to which I immediately replied “obviously not…” It was beautiful - as soon as it was out of his mouth, he realized he’d set me up perfectly, for the 'yes, you have high standards, you picked me, but fortunately for you, I have lower standards, allowing me to ‘settle’ for you.

The only time I got one off better than that (and with a witness too), was at his shop one day, back when he had a partner, Bill who saw it all. I made some rude comment to him, he said to Bill “My next girlfriend won’t be a bitch,” I immediately pointed out “your next girlfriend will be inflatable”.

Anyhow. Yes, he also has a shop, if your hubby has had any musical gear fixed in Lansing in the past 15 years or so, he’s probably had it fixed by SO (goes by the name “Enzo”) he gets stuff from all around the state, it’s across from Elderly Inst. presently.

Thanks to all for the ++'s, yea, he’s a good guy. (handy he’s been trying to talk me into getting a cell phone for quite some time, I’m resisting).

Oh wring, that was a truly priceless line! Dontcha just love it when you can slay your SO with a line like that? I live for those moments.

And don’t feel bad about not having a cell phone. I had one (that was given to me as a gift), but I only used it like, maybe two or three times. Then I broke the AC adapter. This was last year. I JUST got a new one, yesterday. Some of us just plain don’t feel like joining the rest of the world.

Of course, in true teenager fashion, he followed the above with:

After I woke him for work on Saturday AM - he was gonna stop by and see me after work & before heading to Dom’s for overnight, but forgot ( ) , called and said ‘oops’, then spent the night at Dom’s, went in to work on Sunday was gonna stop by and see me after work… but forgot (  ), then went out to his dads for father’s day, spent the night, and just now called me from Doms they’re going painballing, I may see him tonight around 7.

Sigh. Oh well, I still have the memories

“painballing” ?

There’s nothing good to come of that…ouch…

Seriously…hope things get better.
I have about 21 days before parenthood bites me in the ass…so I’m taking notes.

paintballing.
