Head in the clouds MMP

Last night I simultaneously missed the bus, and caught the bus!

It was late at night, and I and a bunch of other people all got off the metro (subway) at the same time, and were going to the bus stop, only to see the bus we’d just missed on the other side of the road. But the bus driver stopped the bus, and motioned for us to cut across the road and get on the bus! So I ended up catching the bus that I’d missed.

**Midget **- I love you bus tale! Made me literally LOL!!

Do I win a cookie?
Chicken Kiev?

I refuse to believe that bus drivers play dice.

What sort of events to you participate in where one wins Chicken Kiev??

:stuck_out_tongue:

One may hope.
:dubious:

Haha, thanks.

Well, there is the expression “winner! winner! chicken dinner!” (I think I first heard it in the MMP, actually. That, or another thread here.)

BLURF Irking as usual. Busy day today. It’s usually busy on Monday.

Here’s hoping everyone has a great week.

From my favorite musical “The Music Man.” Robert Preston was so cheated out of an Oscar.

I would assume either

Three seconds of admiration; small budget and all that.

Some of the church festivals on the Russian Orthodox side, you probably could. The parish I grew up in used to have meat raffles.

I think you meant this one.

or even better, this one!

Some colleges have short term loans (sometimes out of a completely different office) to let students buy books and/or pay tuition before the grant comes in. If you in and get told that it’s pay and be reimbursed, be sure to ask specifically.

Also, it used to be that you got an average amount for books and no one kept track of what you spent.

I wanted to say that. Darn. Now I have to say that my kids don’t say my head’s in the clouds, they say I’m zoning out. Doesn’t sound nearly as nice.

I had to rethread the serger this afternoon due to a couple of threads snapping. It took almost two hours. I kept hearing my mom’s voice echoing in my mind as I painstakingly pulled the threads through their individual slots: **“Never ever unthread the serger.” **I kept running the test fabric through after each rethreading and wondering why it was all falling apart. I studied the diagram on the machine. I pulled up a more comprehensive instruction sheet online. Still, the threads did not lock as they should.

Yeah, sergers are evil, unless you can buy one of those magic Babylock machines where you basically hold the thread near it, press a button, and it threads the loopers for you. There’s a pretty clear inverse relation between serger price and frustration.

Anything Not Nailed Down Department
Someone stole a sewing machine foot from DH’s shop yesterday. Did they actually need this particular kind of foot for that machine, or was it just some kid stealing crap to be irritating?

Getting a bunch of chatter at work from Texas TV stations planning on the expected passing of George HW Bush in the very near future.

Busy day back from vacation.

The sinuses and digestive system are both feeling a little better. Princess Allie, on the other paw, is in full-on pain-in-the-tail mode. She’s getting into everything, including shoving stuff off surfaces I intend for it to be on, and very talkative about it.

He already has the grant and the college will take the tuition out.
I don’t know if they keep the money and take the books out, I guess somebody somewhere would know how much money he has left.

I need to call the college but they sound frustrated and busy.

Now I have to call the damn hospital again.
I made a payment on my account on July 9. The money came out of my checking account on July 13.
On July 25 I got a reminder notice (dated as of July 17) that my payment is due on July 27.
The payment I made on the 9th had not been credited.
I called the billing department on July 27 and at that point the payment of the 9th still had not been credited to my account.
The woman I spoke with said she could see the payment of the 9th was out there but had still not been processed and she would do it manually. She said she had no idea why it had not processed but that they had been having problems with the company that does their billing and she would report it.
She got the payment to go through and the new balance reflected the correct amount.
Today I got a bill from the hospital and my July 9th payment is not credited to the account.

WTF? It never ends.

There’s entirely too much grandstanding going on in this MMP.

My serger is a 1980s model. I’m just glad that the necessary tweezers that came with it are still with it.

Today was the first day of vacation. So far I have:

  1. Got the bean soup in the crock pot.
  2. Went shopping at AC Moore, the used bookstore, and the Home Despot.
  3. Went to the library.
  4. Took a nap.
  5. Got a sinus headache.
  6. Took something for the sinus headache.
  7. Repotted the African violet and the panda plant.
  8. Compared the yarn I bought to the yarn I had, decided that it’s the same weight and will work for my purposes.
  9. Dusted my cabinets and bookshelves with diatomaceous earth. Death to silverfish!
  10. Put all my books back on the bookshelves and cabinet stuff back in the cabinet.
  11. Vacuumed the diatomaceous earth off the carpet.

Relaxing!

I got a delivery via Royal Mail - sent last Tuesday and arrived today! It’s the CD I ordered from my favoritest eye-candy/violinist! Can’t wait to listen to it - tomorrow after my sweetie goes to work. Too much going on tonight to give it the proper attention. But YAY!! Except he didn’t autograph it. :frowning:

Meanwhile, meatloaf is in the toaster oven, Amish corn is in the pot to be steamed, and one gigantic 'mater is waiting to be sliced. Supper will be yum! Ice cream after.

My dinner is Cup Noodles, chicken flavor.
I had a big lunch, so I don’t want much dinner.

My package was delivered today as well, now I’ll have to wait for Sah-son to put it together for me.
I think he was disappointed it wasn’t his desk, but I haven’t ordered a desk for him because every time I ask him what he wants I don’t get a straight answer. Pretty much the only thing he wants is black.
I just ordered clothes for him, all in black.
