Ce qui? C’est la chose la plus idiote que je peux imaginer.

What of points is in this thread, I which when iss the thing go the inside cohesion characteristic English wonder.

The above point is dutifully understood and followed, but what’s the policy on linking to other webpages in other languages that have no English version of the page, when linking to such page would be beneficial to the topic (for example, a Spanish-language webpage in thread on Argentinian literature)?

Allei da kunde ni miene… Gedoon mé man Aantwaarps zeeker?

Ow… Sorry, forgot to read OP…

Yes, good question: What about links to articles in other languages?

While I think that it’s unfortunate that this policy has to exist, I understand the need for it. I just hope that the moderators are patient in enforcing it.

Another clarification: It’s okay to post something in another language and English, right? If this is generally forbidden, can we make special exceptions in the case of quoting other sources, especially literature?

Now listen up youse drongos. I’ve just humped me bluey all the way from Erko t’ Darlo (coz the ute chucked a wobbly), and I haven’t seen any galahs half a deadset goose as yerself. Now, you might think yer cunning as a shithouse rat, but I reckon yer tryin’ to bignote yerself, ya drover’s dog. St-fucking’-rewth.

TheLoadedDog’s post has a certain je ne sais quoi.

Oops.

(BTW, even I don’t know what “humped me bluey” means. Hope it doesn’t involve one of these. ;))

¡Mierda!

Ahem… might I say, this is very, very good news. What a wonderful idea!

::: ducks under his desk to avoid the flames from the pit thread from the pissed off Esperantists :::

Links to a non-english website are allowed, but English is preferred.

You can post a quote in a foreign language and translate it.

Thank you!

I’m touched, but it really isn’t necessary for you all to speak English just for the benefit and convenience of a handful of UK dopers; please make it easy for yourself and speak American.

Man, get out!!!

Mangetout’s post, apart from making me smile ;), brought a question to mind … what about user names in a non-English language which could be obscene, etc …

Julie

Can we still say schadenfreude?

Given that there are a few posters with usernames that are obscene in English, it’s hard to see how that would be a major problem. A mod will no doubt be along shortly to disagree, and tell me to shut up.
