But just to the left of that instead of having the SD logo, it has my bank’s logo instead.
So, does that mean this board is officially too big to fail?
Are you using some version of Firefox? This was (and maybe still is?) a long-standing bug in Firefox that they simply can’t or won’t fix, and it’s been that way for a long time.
(Disclaimer: I haven’t kept up with Firefox updates much, so maybe they eventually fixed it. My older versions have this bug, and FF has gone through many updates that I DID keep up with, without ever fixing it. The bug is well-known and much discussed on FF boards.)
What happens is, it mixes up which logos go with which sites. There is a way to fix this (there’s some cache of these logos that you need to clear out), but don’t bother, because once fixed, it doesn’t stay fixed. After a while, as FF begins to collect site logos again, they will get mixed up again.
Best solution I’ve found: Choose to not give a damn. (As far as I can tell, this doesn’t affect anything else that FF does.)
ETA: If you have a lot of bookmarks, you can see the logos all mixed up there too, on your bookmarks menu.
My most recent observation is FF 19.0 running on Win XP. The favicons aren’t in the address bar, but they appear in the tabs and on the Bookmarks menu. It appears that the right icon shows on the tabs (I’m guessing it shows whatever it just got from the site), but they still get mixed up on the Bookmarks menu.
This is the first I’ve been aware that other browsers have a similar problem. I don’t use other browsers much.
ETA: P.S.: I wonder how many SDMB readers, especially younger ones, know where the name rowrrbazzle comes from?
