Found out about this place from a link on another discussion forum I’ve long participated in, an “off-topic” section of an air combat sim forum. I started looking for another outlet when the “signal-to-noise” ratio in there got unacceptably low, imho, and I’m hoping this one will be better. 
Looking forward to imparting upon everyone here the CORRECT viewpoints on politics, sports, religion, gun control, how to raise your kids, and who was hotter… Mary Ann or Ginger.
Before I start wading into the threads, just wanted to say hi and to commit, in writing, to the principle of debating ideas fairly and in good faith while respecting the viewpoints of others even if I don’t agree with them. I see that this board is at least moderated, which already represents a step up from “that other board.” Looking forward to getting the feel of SD –

I might recommend that you take a moment to learn a little about each forum and what is acceptable to post in each. “Great Debates” might not be the best place to just say “Hi”.
Regardless, stick around, lurk a bit, and enjoy. Some friendly advice: Get a feel for the place before you dive in head first. You’ll be glad you did.

Funny thing, I started out with Great Debates as well… Though after a while I noticed that usually I become pretty polemic around here. That’s why I like the Cafe Society or the MPSIMS sections a tad better.

Welcome ammo52. I hardly ever post in Great Debates. I have this weird condition where I can see two sides to almost every argument. It’s a real handicap when it comes time to belittle someone else’s opinion.
