CL just released this song about 24 hours ago and the YouTube video already has well over 1 million hits. It totally fucking rocks! It’s an insanely energetic hip hop dance video with all kinds of attitude and NSFW-ness. From a Kpop star, no less!

The song is deliriously catchy; a perfect example of playful menace. The jaw-dropping, head-bopping booty-shaking beat is like ten tons of fun for my ears. I like how the lyrics incorporate rapping, singing and a strong chanted chorus. There could have been 3 or 4 vocalists, but as far as I know it’s just CL adopting various sneers and inflections in the mixed Korean/English vocals that remind me of Trina, Monie Love, Nicki Minaj, Shawna, Khia, Lil Kim, etc.

Soundcloud shows 250,000 plays; no idea how to check how many times it’s been downloaded (1 for mine, tho).

First Psy, now CL? Can she get some traction with Americans with this song and video?

I thought Vanilla Ice was like a trademarked name. Robert Matthew Van Winkle will be very upset.

Sorry, I don’t see it getting any traction. It made me giggle. Gangnam Style was far more undeniably hooky.

I like CL (and 2NE1 as well) but I don’t see this being some sort of. K-pop phenom like Gangnam Style. Heck, it’s not even as good as The Baddest Female or MTBD.
