Fran, I’m not sure if you are addressing DDG, me, or both. Your more kindly worded post was not visible when I hit submit on mine, or I wouldn’t have chimed in. I posted that way with the feeling that someone advertising their own board the very same day as beginning posting here was only here to solicit new members. Only CC knows if this is true or not; but if it isn’t, I feel she should come back and tell me so in a spirit befitting the pit. I’ll take her at her word if she does – though I still say it is not in the best form to advertise (even for another free forum) on a board that runs at a lost while still remaining add free.
Eh, sorry for the “parochial humorlessness”–and sorry that y’all are stuck with it as long as AOL keeps allowing me to give them money for the privilege of Internet access–but it smells like spam to me.
I wasn’t flaming because it was a “newbie first post in the Pit”–I came out with six-guns blazing because it was a “hey, why don’t all of YOU come over to MY message board!” newbie first post in the Pit.
Spam, in a word.
Of course, if CrazyChicka is still around in a month and turns out to be a real person and to have actually made some sort of useful contribution to the SDMB, then I’ll apologize, and Francesca and Maeglin will each be entitled to a big fat “I told you so”.

I hope not. I had an Earthlink dot net addy for a while. I was accessing AOL through an Earthlink dialup…which was actually more efficient than dialing AOL directly. Soon, however, my gaming addiction forced me to DSL. I refuse to go back to dialup connections.
Earthlink is a company with very strong ties to the Cult of cientology. The owner is a clamhead, so surely large amounts of his earnings are going to the Co, but I don’t know to what extent other parts of his company are under the influence.
That said, if you accused everyone with an earthlink addy of being a $cientologist then you’d be accusing Tom Leykis, avowed athiest and famous radio host, definitely not the cult-type. His show had Earthlink as a big-time sponsor for a few years. I don’t think most people realize that when they use Earthlink they’re funding a murderous cult. Even so, it doesn’t really matter. I’m sure that at one time or another, most of us have spent money on things, a small amount of which eventually made its way to some nasty organization or another. Nothing to lose sleep over.
In Crazy Chicka’s defense, I first met her in a thread about Christians and the Big Bang over in Great Debates, so I’m assuming she’s here for the company, right?

Hey guys, sorry I haven’t been around to check out this thread better. But I have read through it all and would the opportunity to respond to everyone of you. I will give it a shot. There’s alot to cover.
First off, I didn’t join your board with the intentions of spamming it. As a moderator I know what spam is and I don’t like it as much as you. However it is customary for me when I join a new board to let everyone know who I am, because I usually am accused of being a “sock” or another member in disguise. Therefore I like for people to come over and see my place.
Secondly, I have read some harsh critisism of the flame bunker forum, one being we have 5 members, not true. Nowhere near the membership you guys have, we couldn’t handle it anyway. The copied text that was from our Shout Box at the bottom of the page, it serves no function other to act as a place for people to say stupid things and have fun, so don’t judge the forum by that. And last, we do have a page, it’s not set up as the front page yet but it may be depending on the response we get from it. It’s called The Freak Of The Week. And it’s basically a flame page where we do funny animation and photoshops of people.
The forum itself is centered around flaming, just like this section. We have other sections like discussion and sex topics and games. But our most popular section is the flame section.
Since the site and the forums are free and we intend to keep them that way we can use all the support we can get. And it’s hard to find new and interesting people to come to your place when you don’t have a budget. So that is another reason why I linked the Flame Bunker in my signature…btw I’m sorry about that (to the Admin).
But really to all you guys who might want to come check it out and see what it’s about, maybe add your own touch to a new forum that can definatly use some help in some of the areas. We have a war/terror section that only has 2 threads because nobody want to post in there. Please come over and support it with your presence. We will never ask for money, ever. I’m pretty sure that Lynn removed your signature because of the link to your board. It’s probably not really cool to come along and repost the link in yer last message, if ya know what I mean.
