CrazyChicka, I don’t personally care whether you’re male, female, in-between, or both. What I do care about is that it seems like the only reason you’re here at the SDMB is to try to get us to join your forum. This is just a teensy bit insulting, as we want you to be here because you want to join our forum.
It’s like you’re walking into a comfortable bar full of old friends, with a scattering of newbies, and you loudly announce, “Hey, everybody, I own a bar down the road, why don’t you all come down and check it out?” Would you seriously expect more than a few people to come down the road and check it out? And what if the few people who did go down to your bar and checked it out came back to report that there was nothing to see–no TV, no beer on tap, warm pop, dirty restrooms, and gigantic chuckholes in the parking lot? Would you follow them back into their bar, listen to them report to their friends, and then continue to insist that they all come down and check out your bar? Only if you’ve got some sort of death wish, babe.
Look, you have to offer us a reason to visit. Look around at the SDMB, take the hint. You’ve got yours all set up looking downright unfriendly. Guests ought to be able to read the forums without having to register first. Ditto the FAQ.
And there’s “Stuff to Do” here at the SDMB. At your forums, there’s nothing to do. All you are offering, apparently, is a venue for flaming. We have one (1) forum for flaming. It is nowhere near the busiest forum. The SDMB is about conversation, dear. “Flaming” may be fun for schoolkids with potty mouths, but we are all adults here, and we’re here to talk, even if the “talk” occasionally degenerates into pissing contests.
You’ll notice that we don’t have many of your classic “flame wars”. Some Pit threads may be five-alarm fires, but they all had a reasonably good reason to get started, in contrast to the stunningly pointless flame wars that I’ve seen on other websites.
Now, we’d be happy to have you join our boards. New talent (“fresh meat” heh ) is always welcome. We are, collectively and individually, insatiably curious about all new posters. “Who are you, where you from, what’s your life like?” We’d be delighted to have you stay and tell us these things about you.
But you’re going to have to quit asking us to come over to your place. Some of us have checked it out and the consensus is, there’s nothing to see. “Nothing but flames” is boring–and the thing we hate most of all is being bored. Sorry.
After you’ve been posting here for a while, and after you’ve fixed your forum up so it’s nice, then you can post a “Hey, I fixed my forums, come and look!” thread in MPSIMS, and we’ll come over and take a look. But you gotta pay some dues first, see? You can’t just parachute in, hand out some leaflets, and then drive away in a big limo.
There are three other long-time Dopers here on the boards who have their own well-attended message boards, but you’d never know it to talk to them. They are models of discretion. They don’t natter on about it, they don’t put links to it in their sig. Maybe if you hang around at our board for a while, you’ll find out who they are, and you can figure out how they get people to come over to their boards. And stay.

Well spoken, DDG. I had a similar (though less lucid) post ready, then saw her “I’m a girl not a sock / gay guy lol” post and decided to blow it off.
Like I said, you’re right what I did was wrong. I said I was sorry. I’ll just move on. It’s alright. Thanks for still opening up your forum to me. It’s very nice of you.
