Hello. Have you met my corpse yet?

I was watching Pop-Up Video (on VH1) a long time ago (think years), but I just remembered this right now. The song was Tom Petty’s “Last Dance With Mary Jane”. In the video, he’s dancing around with a corpse played by Kim Bassinger(sp?). One of the pop-ups said something about being able to keep a corpse in you home (in Los Angeles, CA IIRC) as long you take good care of it or something. This can’t be true. Can it?

I don’t see why not. Infection risk can be kept to a minimum with the right chemicals and conditions. I think those laws were passed to allow practitioners of certain faiths to hold ‘wakes’, where the deceased is laid out at home so the family can pay their final respects. Or maybe there are just a few necrophiliacs in California who hold office (necrophiliac: one who loves the dead).
