Hello Julius. Thanks for being patient.
FYI, I’m feeling better today… thanks. It’s raining outside, so there’s not much to do around the farm today, which gives me a bit of time to devote towards this thread. Which is good, since I don’t think my time here will last much longer (collective sigh of relief from all the people here who hate my guts).
You bring up an interesting point. I understand what you are saying and on it’s face, I agree that it is a contradiction.
However, what my ancestors did 1100 years ago (or whenever) does not mean I’m going to go out and sack monestaries or invade Poland (well, maybe if I get drunk enough, then I’ll invade Poland… those damn Poles deserve it… always causing trouble).
Blacks, however, if one looks at Africa today (to take an example), are engaged in the same behavior they always have been, whereas the Norse calmed down, eventually got their shit together and moved on. You don’t hear about Norwegians raping 1 year olds as a cure for AIDS because some witchdoctor told them to. Or cannibalism, either. Or ritual mutilation. Or slavery (yes, it still exists in Africa).
I’m not saying these things are happening in America… what I am saying is that the drive to do these things still exists, and blacks act on those impulses, which manifests itself differently given the surroundings.
By the way, I don’t “worship” my ancestors. I believe that their spirits live on, and they see what I do. I was raised to have a great deal of reverence for our family. Family was, and is, very important, and we were supposed to conduct ourselves accordingly. We’ve had evil people in our family before (not saying I am evil… my Master Plot to take over the Universe is still in the works… but I’m having trouble finishing the Super Evil Super Laser in my backyard- I still need 10,000 AA batteries to power it), and they brought shame upon our famiy.
My life is what I make of it. And for good or otherwise, when I’m dead, I go in the books. It’s my opinion that on balance, what I have accomplished goes in the “good” column.
