To answer your questions, I’ll take them in order, okay?
- Do you believe in white separatism in general or do you just think it is just the best lifestyle choice for you personally?
Separatism in general. Not just for me. I believe that each distinct people should be able to define their own destiny, free from the interference of any other. This goes for ALL races, not just the whites. Sink or swim, but do it on your own.
2) Do you think that black people are inferior just by being black or is it mainly something that is tied up in circumstances caused by history? That is, do you think black blood is automatically tainted or is it just something about black culture that makes most black people distasteful to you?
To deny the strengths and weaknesses of the different peoples of the earth would be to deny the human condition. A couple of caveats here:
a) Why is it that whenever a study is produced that illustrates say, the average IQ of the different peoples of the world, it is automatically hooted down as “racist” just because it clashes with a trendy worldview? (By the way, the term “racist”, which was coined by Lenin, is meant in the same manner that “witch” was used in the 17th Century- it is designed to styfle clear thinking, honest speech and blunt debate. That being said, it has no effect on me whatsoever.)
b) I do honestly believe that mankind did not magically ‘originate’ from Africa based on the discovery of one set of bones in a desert (or wherever they were found) in Africa. The same way that civilizations arose around the world on their own, I believe that the different races of man developed on their own based on their specific environments. That being said, the different races of man are tailored to excel in their own specific environments, which by definition, force physical, mental, emotional and physiological changes within each race. This, by definition, means that each race will have traits that the others do not, that are unique to that particular race. Why is recognizing these differences racist?
c) “Black blood” has nothing to do with my feelings. Nor does their color. It is their behavior that I find distasteful. I think that their behavior, while it can be affected by environment to a certain extent, I believe that their behavior is typical for them as a race in general. I have observed blacks in America, blacks in Europe and blacks in Namibia, and they all have the same traits: overemotionalism, highly defined sense of tribalism, lack of forward planning, instant gratification, tendancy towards violence, impulsiveness, etc. Humans are animals, same as any other animal, and their behavior, depending on type, can be predicted. I don’t need anyone to tell me that a circus lion isn’t the same as a house cat.
- Do you think anything should be done about this on a societal level? Would you have Jim Crow laws again if you had a choice? Would you have segregation again if you could?
What would I do on a societal level? Big question.
Any answer I would give on this question would sound flip and would be largely unworkable. I had to go out on the porch and smoke (yeah, yeah, I know… bad habit) and think about this for awhile… this is what I came up with (follow me on this one):
The issue of slave reparations has come up time and again. Now, I am opposed to this from the word ‘GO’. However, let’s just say for the sake of argument that the US Government agrees to pay slave reparations to black folks… IF (and that’s a huge IF) this happens, I propose that any black person who wants to receive their reparations payment MUST choose a destination outside the US to go live. In other words, renounce your American citizenship, turn in your passport, hop a jet and go live somewhere else.
Question: If YOU personally were living in a society where you thought you were never, ever going to get a fair shake, no matter what happened, would YOU want to continue to live in that society? I wouldn’t. The way I see it, if they dislike the US so much, what’s keeping them here? A reparations payment to them, in one lump sum, would set them up for life in a multitude of countries around the world.
4) Let’s say you are only surgeon available in the ER and two patients showed up at the same time. One is a white high school dropout with a history of drug abuse and a lengthy criminal record plus his is a deadbeat dad with kids that aren’t doing any better. The other is a black person who is saintly by any measure and a positive force in the community. You only have time to save one of them. Who do you choose and why?

Look, I never said I “hated” anyone, or any one people. I said I ‘disliked’ black people. If I were a surgeon, I would have to triage both patients… since you never said what was wrong with either of them, I would have to take the one that was worse off and fix them first, no matter who they are. That I dislike them as a people means nothing. If I were a surgeon, and it was my job to save lives, then I would fix who was worse off, first. Period. This does not invalidate my position, nor does it magically make my feelings go away. I served side by side with people (of all different colors and backgrounds) who I friggin’ HATED to the depths of my being (not because of them being black, but because they were idiots who would get people killed, or shirkers, or whatever), but it was my JOB to lead them as best I could, through whatever the battlefield threw at us, and make it out alive while still completing the mission. It was my JOB. The fact that they were dangerous idiots or that I hated their guts didn’t matter… only the Mission mattered.
Well I hate people that aren’t like me but I dislike those who are even more because they have no excuse. For example, you have been around here for a while DianaG and you are a female which is admirable in my mind but you live in Massachusetts which makes you a yankee (no good can come from that) and I think you are a member of some minority group. I am a conservative white male myself which you seem to hate. Some would predict a death battle on the streets if we ever stumbled into one another.
My basic point is, you rarely call anymore and it hurts my feelings alot.

The OP is pretty calm by the standard of most racist speech. It’s a loaded and highly emotionally charged subject but so what? If a thread that calmly discusses a loaded and highly emotionally charged subject is a “troll thread” then bring them on, as far as I’m concerned. They are far more interesting than discussing minor etiquette failings, or family disagreements (which seems to be more the SDMB’s style, these days).
But the problem with your OP is that you give a lot of seemingly marginally relevant background, but pointedly don’t say why you feel the way you do about black people, even though you say that is specifically what you want to talk about.
Again, I’m not saying there is anything wrong with trolling threads. This is the place for them. I was merely pointing out that this is pretty clearly a trolling thread. And, equally clearly, it’s poised to catch it’s limit.
As for interesting…meh. I don’t find the OP to be very interesting, but I concede that MMV. Hell, it obviously does, since this thread will probably go for 10 more pages if the OP just ducks in once in a while to keep things spun up and keep the 'doper community primed for more.

As a former Kentuckian and someone who did postgraduate training at the University of Kentucky, I am embarassed for the state and its University*. Racists are generally not welcome in Kentucky, which is probably why Ariovistus lives in an isolated spot far from the opprobrium he’d face if he shared his views in a more enlightened spot, like Lexington, or Louisville, or even Bowling Green.

You do realize that genetic study proves your beliefs incorrect, right? Different races didn’t evolve separately. We’re all one species.
Because race isn’t a sensical way of dividing populations in humans, and because ‘recognizing’ these differences seems to come down to anecdotes rather than actual science.
Our concepts of race over time change so much. Not so long ago, Irish immigrants were scum. They weren’t integrating, they said (they were, just not fast enough). People didn’t consider them to be the same race as other Americans. They were perceived as inferior, lazy, and boorish. Nowadays, that sort of division seems laughable. So will people who are all het up about blacks, Mexicans, Arabs, et cetera. We’ll find new reasons to dislike people different than us – that’s really all that it is.

This statement goes towards how I, my friends and family, and presumeably other Kentuckians have been treated by Northerners. I have heard:

These were Northerners who made all these comments to me, not the Southerners. Apparently, the differences between North and South are still very relevent and I’m constantly reminded of those differences.
