Perhaps you could tell me what, exactly, was trollish about my first post?
I specifically went out of my way to say that I was here for honest discourse, that I was not a troll, nobody sent me, offered an olive branch and flat out said that I would never use foul language against any of you, no matter what.
Yeah, guys! It’s not like he has a different skin color! That knee jerk hostile attitude was completely unwarranted. It’s not okay to judge people based on opinions without knowing anything about them but stereotypes and vague eugenics theories!
Oh, I’m a good old Rebel
Now that’s just what I am.
For this Yankee nation
I do not give a damn.
I’m glad I fought agin her,
I only wish we’d won.
I ain’t asked any pardon
For anything I’ve done.
I hates the Yankee nation
And everything they do.
I hates the Declaration
Of Independence too.
I hates the glorious Union –
‘Tis dripping with our blood –
I hates their striped banner,
And I fit it all I could.
I rode with Robert E. Lee,
For three years, thereabouts.
Got wounded in four places
And starved at Point Lookout.
I caughts the rheumatism
A-camping in the snow.
But I killed a chance of Yankees
And I’d like to kill some mo’.
Three hundred thousand Yankees
is still in Southern dust
We got three hundred thousand
Before they conquered us.
They died of Southern fever
And Southern steel and shot.
I wish we’d killed three million
Instead of what we got.
I can’t take up my musket
And fight 'em now no more,
But I ain’t going to love ‘em,
Now that is certain sure;
I don’t want no pardon
For what I was and am,
I won’t be reconstructed
And I do not give a damn.
Oh I’m a good old rebel
now thats just what I am
For this yankee nation
I do not give a damn
I’m glad I fought aga’ her
I only wished we’d won
I ain’t ask any pardon
For anything I done
I ain’t ask any pardon
For anything I doneIt’s the “Confederate Anthem” by racist folk singer Clifford “Johnny Rebel” Trahan.
Given the OP’s description of himself (viking beard? Living in a “border state”?), it’s just the kind of music I’d assume he listens to.
Who the fuck goes around using a word like “loquacious”? Oh right, the hyper-effete, leftie pseudo-intelligentsia. There is another group I have on the short list for genocide if I can ever get my act together.
Maybe Trahan, who I’m not familiar with, calls it that. But the song is generally titled “I’m a Good Ole Rebel,” and it was published in 1914 by Major James Innes Randolph. The best-known recordings of it are by Hoyt Axton (who wrote “Joy to the World”) and Waylon Jennings. It’s not a racist song.
Among a whole lot of other stuff, it’s the kind of music I listen to. And I’d like to put a hot .308 through the OP’s head.
Nobody is flaming you for having a “different” opinion. There are plenty of different opinions here. But not all opinions are created equal - some are foolish.
If you said the moon landings were faked, or the British royal family were actually lizard-like aliens, you would be flamed for being a moron. Or perhaps pitied and ignored, or just plain laughed at.
But your foolish opinions about race are not amusing. They’re harmful, and unfortunately have a tendency to propagate to other foolish people with whom you come into contact. So don’t pretend you’re being singled out just for daring to be different. It’s about the stupid, hateful things you have somehow have come to believe.
If it makes you feel any better, I’m not calling for you to be banned and I don’t want you to leave. I’d rather you stuck around and learned that the world doesn’t have to be hateful.
I noticed that this is the closest you’ve gotten to the meat of the matter in a relatively long OP. Why so brief? Why so vague?
In fact, you spend a big chunk of the OP asking everyone to bear with you and hear you out, then another big chunk of the post is devoted to your bio, and then the post just kind of fizzles out.
Then you wait about an hour before posting anything else, but the closest you get to describing your viewpoint is:
…which is still very vague.
It’s over an hour and a half (and over fifty replies) after your OP that you post anything specific about your views. Even then, that post starts off lamenting the hostility you’ve received.
Overall, you’ve spent a lot more time in this thread predicting hostility and then complaining about that hostility (which you interpret as a refusal to evaluate your opinions fairly) than you’ve spent actually expressing your opinions.
Why didn’t you just cut to the chase and express and explain your opinions in the OP?
