Wasn’t there another poster, not in the extremely distant past, who posted the same sort of descriptive information as the OP in an effort to explain how reasonable his racism is? I have a sense of déjà vu.
The assumption I believe most people would draw from these two sentences is that you are saying that “black life” = “ghetto life”. While most people who live in ghettos may be non-white, the reverse (that most non-white people live in ghettos) is not probably not accurate. I strongly suspect that most of my black friends, who are, like me, middle-class graduate students, would probably also be uncomfortable living in a ghetto. Hell, I have one friend (who is biracial black and Asian) who is from the ghetto (South Central LA) and she’s uncomfortable living in the ghetto.
This is because it sucks to live in an impoverished neighborhood with poor public services and few economic opportunities.
This is a classic trolling thread. The op spews a bunch of boocrap about how he’s a kinda sorta racist, and also his beardstyle/Teutonicness/Kentucky to get us to prejudge him as the former based upon the later, at which point he links back to his racist board with a, ‘let’s all look at the prejudice libs and revel in the sweet irony.’
A belief held in silence is only a belief. A belief expressed is an action, a mind may be changed, which I am determined to continue believing is a very significant action. Some days are better than others, that way.
Not with regard to trolling. Either is sufficient to meet the criteria for bridge dweller. The purpose is to inflame passions. Whether you have acted on the beliefs expressed is immaterial.
If I implied that I think all nonwhite live in ghettos, I apologize. I think most ghettos are nonwhite, and probably black. I also think the much of America sees as the black experience is characterized by, not just ghettos, but general hard-knockishness. I would feel perhaps even more silly sharecropping than I would living in a ghetto, but because I consider the hard-knock life a silly one to live.
Thank you for welcoming me. I admit, I was expecting a flaming for reaching out to this board, but I did not expect the hostility I received just for having a different opinion… “crawl back under your rock”… “you should be banned”, etc, etc… I had to go aways to finally reach someone who welcomed me.
Thank you again.
To jump right into your post, I would like to say I take umbrage to the term “prejudiced”. I did not “pre-judge” anyone, nor was I taught to do that.
What I did do was “judge” black people, as a group, based on the experience I have accumulated over my entire adult life. It is NOT (!) the color of their skin, it is their actions, values (or lack thereof), morals (or lack thereof), propensity towards violence, destruction of their surroundings, eternal victimhood and constant playing of the race card when faced with a problem.
I have lived with (same room) blacks for years. I have observed them at parties I have been invited to, observed them on the streets, served next to them and seen how they live and treat each other, eaten dinner with them, sat next to them in class and shared fighting positions with them.
I did not wake up one day hating blacks. It was a cumulative thing. And I do not “hate” them. To me, they are like children: Prone to overemotional outbursts, no respect for boundaries, no respect for personal property, overwhelming need for instant gratification, lack of forward planning, etc.
The basis for my outlook is that each human being has strengths and weaknesses. Some are better atheletes than others, some are better at maths and science, some are better artisans… and that NOBODY is equal. “All Men Created Equal” means ‘in the eyes of the law’. Realistically, I would lose a footrace with a black olympic hopeful. I know my limitations.
That these strengths and weaknesses extend towards different peoples is obvious. Of course you can make funny generalizations (ie: All Germans are humorless prigs who had their humor glands removed at birth, are good at maths and engineering and try to take over the world every 50 years). One thing that I find curious is that reasearch that is done is hooted down as “racist” because the findings do not square with someone’s worldview.
Subject change:
How do I feel about Mexicans? I find them to be a hardworking bunch, solid, reasonably religious (Roman Catholicism most prominant) and reliable. However, I will say the biggest problem I have with them is the legality of what they are doing, not them as a people. I assimilated perfectly when I was in S. America and Central America, and even became fluent in spanish. I did my best to learn the local customs, the language, ate the food and tried my best to blend in.
If they would immigrate the correct way, instead of sneaking over the border under cover of darkness, automatically making them criminals by default, I would have no problem with them. IF they immigrated the correct way… but they didn’t do that. When umpteen millions of people from another country sneak into yours under cover of darkness, that is an invasion. No other way to define it.
Europeans I find to be okay, if a little full of themselves. The french are an okay people, so long as you get away from the cities. The ones in the cities have seen Amis for so long, they hate us, and treat us accordingly. The average working slob out in the countryside will likely welcome you with a smile, since he rarely has had any contact with us.
Arabs? Well, I’ll be honest. When they’re shooting at you, you tend to have a low opinion of them. But the honest working stiffs who just want to live their lives and be left alone? They got the same problems we have: families to deal with, bills to pay, grumpy neighbors, etc, etc… I’ve read the Koran. Their prayers sound like our prayers. Not to be flip, but if they stopped blowing up schoolbusses and fish markets, I would have no problems with them.
Jews? No opinion, other than they’re good fighters. But I would like to know why there are so many jewish lawyers, so many jewish people in the government, so many jewish people in the porn industry, the diamond industry, etc… I’ve always wondered why they have been drawn to these professions, but I do not have an answer. You don’t see many jewish pipefitters, plumbers, carpenters (no Jesus jokes), woodworkers, farmers, horse trainers, farriers, blacksmiths, etc… I’m sure they exist somewhere, but I’ve never met any. I’m officially neutral towards them.
