The problem is that you seem to think this is a new argument. If we’d only engage in civil discourse we’d be enlightened. But I daresay that most people posting here have tried to reason with racists for years or decades and have found that reason, logic, and evidence have no effect. So when someone new comes along and spouts the same malarkey that has already been gone over countless times, is it any wonder that we seem less than enthusiastic?
Guess what? We have our own opinions too. And MY opinion is that YOU are are a douchecicle. Seriously, the whole “I just have a different opinion!” doesn’t mean you can’t have that opinion challenged.

Well, you appear to have started this thread in the Pit, which suggests that you aren’t really interested in reasoned debate.
Moreover, once you declare that you are happy to define people by their skin color- or any other physical feature, for that matter- you have a priori demonstrated that you don’t really understand how the world works. You picked a trait, essentially at random*, and decided it was a measuring stick for people.
It actually makes it worse that you’ve traveled and spent time with people of different races, because it means that the evidence isn’t going to sway you. On the other hand, a person who holds racist beliefs simply because he doesn’t know any better can be forgiven, to some extent.
*It’s not random. It’s because there are people out there saying black people are inferior. After all, nobody puts on a hood and demands that green-eyed people be relegated to second-class citizenry.

I had almost zero contact with blacks until I joined the US Army. I got a crash course in how they behaved, but I still gave them the benefit of the doubt. That is, until I realized anomalies that grew into trends, which grew into typical behavior no matter where I was in the world.

I have some difficulty believing that. Have your parents kept in contact with your cousin, their niece? If nothing else, did you spend any time with other family members as a child, enough for their attitudes to affect you?

Well, your Southerner tends to be a cracker, the more backward clan of the redneck nation. Rather crude in their racialism towards blacks. Now Texans, being peckerwoods, are far more advanced than their cracker cousins, we know that any man with a gun is the equal to any other man with a gun, skin don’t enter into it. Of course, did their level best to make sure black folks didn’t have any guns, but the principle of equality is the same.
