Hellooooo Netflix! (Animaniacs)

fun fact

in the original version of Yakko’s World he sings Israel and Palestine as two separate countries

in the Arabic dub he just sings Palestine twice

I think it’s fair to say that this is his masterpiece.

Here it is as sung by Pinky. Narf!

Ey-yi-yi-yi, oops, Magellan

We’ve had the first three seasons on DVD for years, and the kids watched them over and over. My son must’ve recently discovered that Animaniacs was on Netflix, as he started watching the fourth season yesterday.

My memory from back then is … incomplete. I only recall one short featuring Minerva Mink. Was she just not a popular character, or did she star in some episodes I missed?

I think there were only a couple of shorts in which she was the lead, probably because her schtick was censor-bait. There was one with a wolf who turns into a romance-novel cover model and…something with a dog trying to catch her, I believe. Aside from those, she only shows up in cameos and cast scenes/intros.

Great news. I’m so happy I could finger Prince!

[/QUOTE]

Finger Prince isn’t a dirty joke. Fingering in the dirty sense wouldn’t have been a known term back when the show was being made and porn wasn’t flowing into every home at the click of a mouse. Prince just makes that face because, well, Prince is weird.

I am hoping for another country hit from Bubba Bo Bob Brain.

Are you thinking what I’m thinking?

Yes, yes it was. We all knew what Dot was talking about.

Thank you for this. I want to watch all the songs, starting with Constantinople.

All do respect, but you’re wrong :). We all knew what “fingered” meant even as teens long before an internet existed.

My favorite is the Presidents one.

Interesting for today’s possibility of a Hillary Clinton presidency that they mentioned both Bill and Hillary in the white house as the ones in charge.

For the most part, I find most of the Animaniacs episodes amusing, but there are a few I consider skippable

Chicken Boo (easily the weakest of the segments)
Mindy and Buttons (I find Mindy intolerably annoying)
Slappy squirrel
Goodfeathers

The Goodfeathers/West Side Story one was good.

Could’a used more Minerva Mink, but it was attractive to the wrong segment of the audience.

(I’ve heard it rumored that Animaniacs was canceled because too many adults were watching, and not enough kids. In a weird way, they succeeded too well in spreading the appeal.)

Good Idea: Pinky and the Brain.
Bad Idea: Pinky, Elmyra & the Brain.

Whyyyyyyyy???

This is the most wrong thing I’ve ever read on the internets.

I thought the pairing was nothing short of hilarious!

Because I find kids annoying

O.K. I love you. Buh-BYE!

Grrr!, I don’t have a clear memory of “Pinky, Elmyra & the Brain” but I did particularly like that overall episode that did crossovers for all of the segments.

I mentioned upthread the crossover for Katie Ka-Boom and Chicken Boo. That was my favorite. It works beautifully for anyone who had already become familiar with the two segments individually- if you’re not familiar, then it’s about the most bizarre thing ever.

Someone made a Katie Ka-Boom reference on Facebook and another friend posted that he never heard of her. I thought I’d be helpful and find a link to a Katie Ka-Boom sketch but the only one I could find on YouTube was the crossover with Chicken Boo. Now, imagine knowing nothing of either Katie Ka-Boom or Chicken Boo and then watching that episode.

Needless to say, the friend who had requested clarification was only that much more confused when I provided that clip!
