When I had to go to the ER, they told me to turn off my phone as it might affect certain machines of theirs. I was able to use it in my hospital room, though.
So, she’s most likely getting a very thorough lookover in the local ER. Just to be sure type stuff. Especially if she complained about any symptoms.
That said…
Bummer, you guys! I’m sure everything will end up okay, but I’m faxing God a little prayer. Just in case, you know?
In my experience, the nausea comes from the adrenalin…I get the same ‘pukey’ feeling if I’ve given blood for some reason. If she was well enough to send a text message, I’m guessing and hoping that she’s fine…in fact, better than fine.
This is in the same vein as 4am phone calls though…damn I dread those. 99.9 percent of the time it’s just a buddy who’s been out to late. I don’t want to answer the .01% though…and I haven’t had the misfortune to yet.
It seem’s no one has mentioned it before, but the nausea could be that she was nervous about telling you that your half of the car was wrecked while her half managed to come out of it unscathed .
You think it’s bad now, wait until Coldheloteen calls to tell you about the minor fender bender they were in. You’ll all be feeling a bit nauseus at that point, I’ll wager.
Good luck with everything. It really is a good sign that she had her wits about her enough to get in contact with you.
Just got off the phone with her mother, who in turn spoke to Heloise’s niece. The latter said Heloise was fine, and should be leaving the hospital at around midnight. Which is in 45 minutes, in Arizona.
The car is reportedly ruined, but I couldn’t care less about that right now. I can’t wait to hear her voice.
Called into work and told them I’m taking a day off - I feel like a wreck, myself.
Sorry to hear the bad news, Coldfire. I know you must feel very frustrated right now, what with the intervening distance and not being able to be there for Heloise or to help her directly.
Look, from the info you have, it coulda been a zillion times worse, she’s okay-ish and is going to be 100% in time, and that’s what matters. I know this must prey on your mind dreadfully, but try to keep the healthy perspective.
I’m so sorry to hear about your news. Emofkuniv and I are doing the long distance thing until August ourselves and we make each other promise always to be safe but that doesn’t stop others on the roads not being morons. I know exactly how you feel - I’d feel the same way, except that I guess I could jump on a plane to London sooner than you can to the US.
I do sincerely hope she’s ok - the car is no bother, don’t worry about that, insurance can sort that out. You both need to sleep and rest and then spend ages on the phone making sure each other is ok. Yet another reason why you need to move together permanenly (as if you needed one!!).
I spoke to her around 9:30 this morning, my time. Which means she spent over 7 hours at the hospital, unable to call or send text messages. They checked her out thoroughly, though, including even a CAT scan. She’s all right, except for being sore and stiff, of course. I was never happier to hear her voice than this morning. We spoke for a while later when she got home (her roommate picked her up), and she seemed in better spirits, if very tired, of course. Could have been the painkillers, too.
I slept all day and woke up an hour ago. Man, what a stressful experience. But it all ended well enough, since she’s all right. We’ll see about the car, it might be totalled, or not. But like I told her: it did what it was supposed to do, which is protect her. The rest is irrelevant, really.
I’m in Phoenix, Coldfire, so if she’s local, let me know if either of you need anything - my e-mail is in my profile and I’d be happy to pass on my phone number as well.
If they are releasing her, then it can’t be too serious. Glad she’s ok! And try to get some sleep now.
