Yesterday I was munching a taco from Jack-in-the-box. (Iknow I deserve bad luck for that.)
Two of my front teeth fell out of my top denture.
I have an important function to attend tomorrow night and don’t have time to visit a dentist for repairs . I really don’t want to sit there all night with my hand over my mouth as there will be much merryment among folks I haven’t seen in MANY moons.
Is there a quick fix that I can get? I saw one at Wal-Mart that states it will a temporary repair, but is it believeable?
It was called D.O.C. (dentist on call). I really don’t want to get a bunch o’ crap that will preclude my dentist from doing a proper job later.
Even if you don’t have time to visit the dentist, surely you have time to call him on the phone. Ask him if these temporary fixes will mess it up for him to do a permanent fix.
Look under “Dentures” or “Denture Repair” in the Yellow Pages. Call around. If your area is anything like mine, you should hopefully be able to find a place that will permanently repair them in a short amount of time (usually 60-90 minutes the times it’s happened to me, though that particular place only does repairs two days a week). Shouldn’t be too expensive, either - probably about $50 or so.
Yes, the stuff from WalMart will work if used as directed. I once repaired a plate for a friend until they could get in to see their dentist a week later. When they did get in, the dentist looked at the repair work and declared that he couldn’t have done any better and to just keep using it unless they just wanted to pay for a replacement.
About 6 months later I got to repair it again and it’s still going on that one.
The temporary fixes will work but not for long. Usually a week is about all you get before they fall out again. If you don’t chew at all you may be able to get a month out of it. Which would be helpful if you had to wait two weeks or so to get another paycheck.
Use as directed and avoid chewing on them or biting with them

We live in a small town 40 miles east of San Antonio and finding a dentist or a lab is nearly impossible on short notice. The shindig we are going to is in Houston and I figure it might be hard to find time to get it fixed tomorrow. What with travel and all. Plus it IS a few days untill payday.
Gonna try the walmart stuff and hope it gets me through the weekend.
